  1. Jen75 I am glad you said that! I was unsure if anyone else was feeling the way I was about the gym. It sounds funny because that was not me before, but now if I dont go I get very irritable! I also know that my sister had gastric bypass in 2004 and did not deal with her eating habits very well and after a few problems with the surgery she turned to pain pills. It has definitly been an eye opener for me. The food addiction must be dealt with.

  2. I was banded on Jan 3rd and have not thrown up once...knock on wood. One thing I have noticed about people is that they do not like change. I know for me I was the "fat" friend and when my friends found out what I was doing, they were a little upset. Not because they want me fat but because they are comfortable with how I was and did not want me to change. The thing is...being over weight means being unhealthy most of the time. YOu have to do what is right for you. It is not going to be easy but I would do it over again a million times over. I have lost 35 lbs and am on my way to a new me. Already my clothes are loose and I feel so good. Do not go into it thinking that it is a miracle surgery, go into it knowing it is a tool that WILL help you though and to heck with the nay sayers!!! lol

  3. I am currently on lap band fill no2 and have a question. In the beginning after my second fill I felt some restriction but now am wondering if it could have been just me being swollen. I do get full on less food post band but feel like I'm eating more then I should. Am I supposed to wait till I'm full to stop eating or could this cause my band to slip? I feel like I was doing better before my fill. The dr said I lost7lbs and was doing great but since my appt I feel like I'm not doing as good. Maybe I expected too much from the fill.

  4. I was actually glad to get my first stuck episode out of the way. I had not had one until my secound fill but have had two now. Mainly when I dont pay attention to my chewing. Walking and jumping helped me both times. I was terrified before so it was good to see if I could handle it.

  5. Well I went for my second fill on Thursday and found I am finally losing weight again. I was down 7 more pounds in four weeks. The doctor was pretty excited for me and for once in my life told me to continue what I was doing. Then they added 2 more oz. I did liquids for the rest of the day then mushies today. I have been full all day. I hope that this continues and I have somehow lucked into my sweet spot. Thanks for all the encouragement!!!

  6. Just had a question. Did your doctor tell you how many calories that you need to be at a day? Mine said not to watch just as long as you get 100g of Protein a day you would lose weight. I feel like since I have started to eat I have stopped losing weight. I get between 1200 to 1400 cal a day which is so different from the 3000 i used to get..lol. You would think I would be losing. Is the the infamous plateau every one talks about? I have lost 20 lbs including preop diet.

  7. My surgery was on Jan 3rd of this year and have lost 21 lbs with my pre surgery diet included. I have the same problem. I eat and can fill the full feeling but cant seem to put the food down because it is good. I just got my first fill today and am hoping that I will get back on track now but there is no for sure way to know.

I started my workout program last week and have been feeling good about that but am wishing I could hate food. lol. I think we just need to know that there are more out there like us and we need to consentrate on why we went for the surgery in the first place. Maybe even make small goals each week to try to win. This week im going to eat slower and try to pay attention to what my band is telling me. even the best tool wont work if we dont do it right, I guess. Good luck to you and keep in touch maybe we can get through this together!!!

  8. Yes, I was on medicaid when I had my surgery. It took me almost three weeks to get the green from medicaid then I had to do an ekg and a blood test then they scheduled my surgery. I think that they look to see if you have two or more what they call co-morbidies (high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholestral) and a high bmi! Hope this helps.

  9. I am post op 3 weeks but have a question. I have made the choice to go no soda and am currently on my fourth week off of it. I am wondering though about a friend who is fixing to have surgery. She is a soda addict and is wondering if it is possible to have a small glass of soda after lapband???

  10. I am two weeks post op and am on mechanically soft foods now. I am wondering if this is to good to be true though. I am able to eat everything so far and not have problems. I have been making the right choices so far as food is concerned but am eating with the family just not able to eat very much.. I am trying not to "look for trouble" but am starting to feel like this is getting easier. I still want the whole taco and burritto but can only eat the meat and cheese and a little sour cream. Very doable. Can I possibly be doing this right and not feel like it is so hard? Or should I not be eating what I am eating? I have not had a fill yet. I am scheduled for Feb 7th. They did say that I was showing some restriction though. Could this possibly be life after band?

  11. I did the 5 incision surgery, but if it makes you feel better day 1 through 6 was rough but you get through. I am on day 11 and feel almost completely normal!! You will get through this. Day 4 and 5 I went shopping and when I got home I was pooped! I could not believe how much I couldnt do and felt so yucky, I just wanted to be normal again. I promise if you give yourselves a few days you will be doing more!
