  1. Hi Liz, glad you found the site! I am so happy myself to have found this back in November 2011, so I had a lot of knowledge wayyy before my surgery. Best thing here is we are all here to help and listen,no matter what! Oh, and congrats on the huge weight loss!! You should be soooo proud of yourself ((hugs))
  2. What you are feeling is pretty normal and I bet we all can vouch our feelings have been there. I had my surgery just a week shy of my birthday. I spent a lot of time in my bed, I cried a lot. I even had doubts of what I did to myself. Now, here I am 8 weeks out of surgery and my feelings have shifted. I feel good, I can certaintly move around a whole lot better, I have more agility, and my clothes are falling off (thats always a plus). Like CG said, you just had sugery and you are still healing. Yes, I can not see why a few glasses of wine down the line would hurt, why I can't wait to enjoy a glass or two myself (I love wine)! You are going to be just fine, just you wait
  3. Mini Fruit Tarts, so easy to make and you won't have to worry about soft bread/dough. Frozen tarts from your freezer section Filling: vanilla pudding Topping: fresh fruit of your choice, example strawberries/blueberries/raspberries *you can squeeze a little fresh lemon over them* ( you can put a candle in a few to make a wish)
  4. Also, they sell small single servings of Fat Free Caramel Apple dip , nothing like a half of apple sliced dipped in caramel. mmm mmm good! That really hits the sweet spoin
  5. When I getting a craving for salt & sweet - I go for Dark chocolate covered almonds. Calories for ONE - 17 Fat - 1.33 Sugar - 0.57 Protien - 0.53 Carbs - 0.95
  6. baaaaaaaaaaaaa, omg sooo funny!
  7. I am really sadned by reading this post because as a Mother and Grandmother I if anything praise and always compliment those I love. Especially my daughter and granddaughter. To wait for your own Mother for a compliment is a shameful part on her end as a Mother. It goes to show you that even Mothers have a lot to learn and don't always say the nicest things, even if kidding (its still hurtful). If it bothers you so, I would speak with her about her behavior towards you. You may be surprised that she doesn't even think she is hurting you. If she has been this way with you all her life, chances are she probably hadn't much maternal love from her very own Mother and its the only way she knows. I am nothing but a mere stranger to you, but think you are doing a magnificient job. I am also happy to have read you have a wonderful support system in your daughter and husband! ((hugs))
  8. LOL, I don't mean to laugh but the other day I for the first time drank through a straw. I was super busy, out all day and in a car when I realized I had drank through a straw until my drink was already gone. OMG, I freaked out and texted my buddy (you know who you are) and was reassured I would be okay. I was waiting for something to happen, something bad. Nothing, I was fine. Wheeeeeeeeew!
  9. <-- I lift things up, and put them down
  10. Like CG said, were you given a food plan from your surgeon/nutrionist? That is just odd to be putting actual food in your new stomache just days out of surgery. I had to wait 3 weeks before I was able to put any food in my mouth, but I know all surgeons have different plans....
  11. Cottage cheese 1% or 2% Yogurts (greek) Applesauce Avacados (blenderized) depending on how soft it is you can mash it up with a fork Tuna fish in the can, white chunk albacore (blenderized) Bumble Bee chicken (Blenderized) Laughing Cow Lite Cheese wedges Babybel Lite cheese Ricotta Cheese (Part Skim) Cream Soups (no chunks) Tomato Soup Mashed sweet potatoes Mashed Potatoes (white) Refried Beans *You would be surprised what you can make with all these items as a meal*
  12. Juicing is a great idea, I looooove fruits! I have no problem with eating fresh fruits. I eat strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, and apples ( i do remove the skin from the apple and peach). I don't eat it with my meal , but instead eat my fruit a few hours after I eat a meal. You can put fruit in your salad, I have eaten strawberries in my salad. I found a drink in the juice isle at my grocery store in little juice boxes called "Fruitables" its a serving of fruit/veggies when drinking one small box. Calories are 40 and the sugar content is 7. Can't beat that, I drink them every day! They come in lots of yummy flavors! Peach & Pear, Apple & Carrot, Harvest Apple, berry Berry. Made by Apple & Eve.
  13. whoooooohoooooooo!! Congrats!
  14. You are going to be great William! It will be your new birthday once banded. Keep us posted on your progress we would love to read all about your journey (hugs) -Patty
  15. <----- NJ here We are all here for you! This is the best site on the internet, you will learn so much about lapband surgery from others. Journey their experiences, ask questions, and make friends. Happy One Year Anniversary being Cancer Free! Have you gone to a weight loss seminar yet in your area?? Best wishes, -Patty
  16. No matter who we tell, even if its just 'one' person..... you can guarantee that ONE person will blab his/her mouth! I too only chose to tell a selective few, but believe me I am not a nieve person and know the ones I told, told their friend, family, and soooo on. I don't care, I am not ashamed. I just didnt want to announce it to the world I know. If asked, I tell them the truth. So far, the people who I have shared this with, even neighbors on my block, have all been supported. If they talk about it behind my back, so be it! My sole purpose having this done was to live and not die. If people don't like hearing that. O WELL, that don't walk in my shoes...
  17. air was trapped inside my band during surgery. Air usually is trapped outside the band or gets under the band when they do the stitching. Some air not a lot actually got into the band putting more pressure around my already swollen stomache, it was really a small amount.
  18. Hi Domika, yup! my surgeons office uses numbing gel as protocol...
  19. Hey Princess, I didn't have a fill but instead had air removed from my band after surgery. Its basically the same set up. I was super scared, for nothing, LOL They put numbing gel on my belly, my surgeon found my port in seconds (what a relief), the needle went into the port (I felt a tiny prick, almost like when you get bloodwork), it was nothing, I really got myself all worked up for nothing. It was done super quick and painless! Now, I can't tell you what a 'fill' feels like with the saline going in, so maybe someone else can explain that better You are going to be just fine, .... ask for the numbing gel if they don't do it!
  20. To keep balance you should weigh 3-4 oz of lean meat, 2 oz of veggie, 2 oz of carb.. or you eliminate the carb and do 4/4 that = 8 oz = 1 cup Example I eat: 4 oz ground turkey pattie/ 1/4 cup cooked spinach/ 1/4 cup mashed sweet potatoes = 1 cup ( I always eat my turkey pattie first, then the veggies, and if I am still hungry I then eat my carb (if I can get to it, lol). I guess a light V8 wouldn't hurt occassionally, just keep in mind of the sodium when drinking them.
  21. That is horrible! I feel so bad for you! Next time wait until your surgeon is readily available to do this if no one can't. Only the surgeons are allowed to do fills in our office, there are 4 so there is at least 1 available if the others are not there.
  22. you are so lucky you got to start solids on week 3, I had to wait till week 5. OOO wheeee! I tell ya, nothing like good ole solid foods, never thought I would say that! Enjoy experiementing and great job on your weight loss
