  1. You have done really well and it shows! Keep rocking that sleeve!
  2. Thank you I just had a moment there where I was thinking this was for nothing, and in actuality it is all about the same. I am very confident in my surgeon Kimberly Steele at Johns Hopkins, so I will not use the size of the stomach guideline as an excuse not to be successful. Thank you for helping me put this into perspective. You have done very well any tips?
  3. Wow i was just told that I had a 40fr, now I'm frighten that it won't be enough for me??? :banghead: I need to calm down :chillpill: it would be nice to hear how the different sizes work for everyone.

    How Different We Really Are

I use to be 5’9 but when I was weighed and measured pre-op I was 5’7. My highest was 303 and I was a 24-22, I am currently in a 20 women’s jeans that are a bit baggy I have a goal pair of jeans that are a regular 20 (Gap) with no stretch that I want to get in next month. My tops were 2 and 3X but I am now in xl. I currently only weigh in with my doctor, there are too many things that I need to focus on outside of the scale for now, but the last time I weighed in I was 260.

    Observations

Obesity is a complex issue it’s not just the weight or food or the emotions it all of the above. You really have to tackle it at all levels. But I agree, now is not the time to settle, to make others happy but hopefully your relationship(s) will get stronger as you develop new outlooks on life. And if not drop the dead weight like all the other weight and keep it moving. Sometimes you have to move forward and the people that love you will fallow. PS Lissa looking good!

    Using Straws

Can we use straws? It has helped me with the small sips, is this a big no no?

    Using Straws

Went to my 6 week fallow up and the PA said that if I wasn’t having any gas issues or pain or losing control of how much I was taking in with a straw then it would be OK for me to use them. Shea it looks like you are right this is one more of those you have to try it for yourself sleeve things to really know.

    Who Are You?

This is a cool idea, I am a 43 year old happily married; mother of one 13 year old son stepmother to two, a 25 year old stepdaughter and an 18 year old stepson and I work as a clinical research coordinator. My life now I would say is full but happy, I could not always say this, and I believe that a lot of the reason why this was, was because I was unhappy with myself and felt trapped with my weight and it tinted the way I moved though life. I have been struggling on and off with my weight for the past 20 years not always obese but never really comfortable with food and weight…One of the best side effects post surgery was this will to feel better about me and my life and I feel freer in a lot of ways that I wasn’t anticipating. I dream of traveling the world and I have been to Africa, Mexico and the USVI (where my husband is from) but if I had to name a few places that I want to go to it would be London, Ethiopia, Egypt, Greece and Hawaii with my family. I am really excited to get to know who I am at this stage in my life. I feel like I am kind of girly, I love sparkly stuff and tinker bell and silly stuff of that nature but I am learning to garden and I kind of like the outdoors. I hope to go camping and hiking this summer. I love to swim and I think that I am supposed to live near a lake or Water because I enjoy it so much. I would also like to complete my degree, but traditional learning has never really excited me much so, we will see what takes shape.
  10. I am 6 weeks out and I can eat an egg with a bit of shredded cheese for Breakfast at about 7:00 am and around 10:00 I start on my Protein shake about 16-20 oz made with unjury and a banana and soy milk. Then at 12:00 ish I have 1/4 cup of refried Beans and shredded cheese and I’ll put tsp of salsa ( not chunky at all more like a hot sauce) in it for flavor also or tuna salad with light mayo about 3oz or 1/4 turkey chili is another good luch or egg salad. And I usually have the same thing for dinner. I love to cook and I love the smell of food but I have very little desire to eat. Most of the time I’ll smell something good and I’ll think wow that smells good and then it’s gone out of my head, whereas before the desire to eat after smelling something tasty would be overwhelming. Sometimes I get head hunger when I'm cooking and I'll have a taste of something but I don’t' want more. It is strange, this new stomach. I'm concerned that I'm eating more then I should, now that I hear more people can only eat 3/4 of an egg. My nutritionist says that I’m doing well but it’s hard to say. I’m really focusing on eating to get rid of hunger or the empty feeling and nothing more. Eating slowly is so difficult. :drool5: I just am thankful that I’m able to get control of my eating now that I am post op.
  11. December 1 2011 and I am down 37 lbs.

I Know It’s All In My Head But

I was sleeved December 1st. 2011 and already in this time I have gone through so much, nothing bad, just the learning process of the new sleeve. I am losing about a pound a day I am currently at 260 (and this was the last day of my period so expect to drop more this week), so my highest was 303 then the day of surgery I was 287 and as of 1/3/12 I am 260. The best part is just how good I feel it is like I hit a switch and I feel so much better. The eating can be tough mainly I have to slow down a bit and I’m having trouble tolerating the vitamins, and I’m completely over the protein shakes. I am down a pant size and expect to be down another in the next few weeks. The problem that I am having is that I haven’t had much trouble and the transition for the most part is going smoothly, this leads me to think that I am not doing something right or I won’t be successful. I know it’s all in my head but I just thought I’d share.

I Know It’s All In My Head But

Thank you Lissa, It’s just wild that I am struggling with feeling good, I thought that this was going to be extreme and it is in some ways but in others it’s just smooth, I should be glad but I am feeling mixed emotions, maybe it’s just today…

    What's Your Empty/full Signal?

I am a month and 4 days post op and I have noticed that when I’m full that I have a small burp…the trick is to stop as soon as I burp one bite more and I could feel very uncomfortable. This is a learning process and because everyone is different you have to pay attention. I was using that very full feeling as my gage but I feel much better stopping after the burp, I don’t feel over full, just right.
