Have You Nicknamed You Lapband Yet?

Among my friends who know I'm banded, it's my pregnancy...something got put in and I got crazy cravings from it it's our code word when we're with mixed company
  2. In your self during your weight loss. I've been getting comments (especially recently!) and they do make me very happy and motivate me. But I don't see it in myself, I think because I have so much to lose

    Bone To Pick!

The only one to try to hange my mind was my insurance. I told them that I was 23 and too young to be rerouting entire organ systems. People can fail no matter what. I have a relative who did the bypass and you'd never know it now.
  4. My family knows but very few friends. The ones I have told are very supportive and always ask if ill be able to eat specific stuff or how I'm doing. Others that comment about my weight I just tell them that I'm finally eating right. Which isn't a lie
  5. Are you recently post op? I had bad insomnia for about a week and a half after surgery. Asked my dr and she said it was normal. I started sleeping good when I went to work. I've never heard of the Splenda thing--makes me nervous to try it!
  6. I'm banded through True Results and was never told not to drink while eating. It's also not on any paper I've read. Who here follows that rule? I think I'm going to start. And hope that it'll help some of my issues.

    Drinking While Eating

Yeah I think it will help me by not drinking. I haven't been for both meals today and I don't feel hungry yet (probably coincidence since I recently had a fill). There's no worse feeling than being stuck and I thought that drinking would help but it makes it hurt worse and I feel it going around the food.
  8. I felt okay the day after surgery, but it was a couple of days after that that I really felt worse. I'm sure it wasn't bad compared to other surgeries, but I was in pain. I also had trouble sleeping for about 2 weeks which my dr said was normal.
  9. Yeah what kind of job do you have? I am a server and initially took a week off but then took another couple day and requested a lighter schedule because I was still not feeling great. Incisions or stomach wasn't the problem, but the gas in my chest and shoulder was very painful. Good luck!

Eating A Microscopic Bite Vs. Self Control

I appreciated the picture that was posted, especially since I had such a bad stuck episode. It doesn't make you any better that you don't have to do that.
  11. Did all liquids the first day, mushies yesterday, back to normal today. I had a sandwich at lunch and was fine (removed the crust because that is more difficult to go down). Sat down at dinner with chicken and mixed veggies and some fruit. After about 2 bites of chicken, and a piece of zucchini, I got stuck. It went away so I tried again. And for the first time since being banded, I raced to throw up. And have been doing it since (so about 2.5 hours now). Sometimes it's actually food, but sometimes it is (sorry for the TMI), slime or foam. I thought I was taking small enough bites. Certainly smaller than before since I was earned that this fill was probably going to make me much tighter than before. I've never gotten stuck on chicken, and certainly not on anything to this extent. The chicken was a bit dry but I had BBQ sauce. Is this normal? Am I possibly overfilled? For what it is worth, I'm at 7ccs. My band is larger than most on here, it's between a 12-15 but I don't remember the exact number.

    I Had A Fill 2.5 Days Ago

Thanks for all the advice guys. Tried again this morning with a banana, but no go. I'm going to give it a couple of days on liquids and see since I'm sure all the PB'ing and vomiting may have irritated my band.
  13. Day 4-5 was worse for me in terms of gas pains. It does take awhile to go away and that pain (which was the worst) could not be helped by anything. It lessens, though I still have it occasionally and I'm 3.5 weeks post-op.
  14. I also had a bad hernia. I read on here that the gas in your chest area can't really be helped by anything. I've tried everything and I'm back at work waitressing so I know I'm walking enough!! It's gotten better though. I'm post 9 days and still have shoulder pain and light pain if I breathe very deeply. It'll get better!

    It's None Of Your Business!

I told one manager and a friend at work. The other managers know I had surgery but don't know what it's for. I'm also not comfortable discussing it. If you're not, tell them you're having a surgery. True Results offered to give us a doctors note without the specific reason (or even "True Results") on the note.
  16. I move on to mushies tomorrow and I am STARVING! And emotional! I sincerely applaud those who can do 2 weeks (plus who had to do 2 weeks before surgery, because I just had low carb). I think part of it is that I healed relatively quickly, so I've felt hunger for a few days now. (I know I'm not completely healed, but I hope that makes sense!) I'm also glad to have this outlet. My family is enjoying Subway in the kitchen so I left because, despite a Protein shake and 2 Popsicles, all I can think about is food.
  17. It was 3 days. I'm a stomach sleeper so I'm so thankful it was relatively quick!! I still can't really flop down and sleep like I use to but I usually start on my side and work to be on my stomach, slowly.
  18. When I was doing my pre op low carb, I had to stay under 20g carbs. Definitely couldn't do that long term!! Even 30 sounds so much better

What Kind Of Job Do You Have?

I'm a server. I only asked for a week off but I have dropped my shifts that are after the week because I don't think I'm going to be okay enough for a 6+ hour shift. I'm going to go back Wednesday and I asked my manager for a light schedule-no doubles, no lounge shifts.
  20. I didn't get too much relief from it I continued to use it mostly because it was comforting but I wouldn't say it helped my pain.

    2Nd Day Post Op

It'll get better in a few days! I was also regretting, especially yesterday but you'll start noticing little differences soon.

    24 Hours Postop

Sounds normal I was banded Tuesday and that first day was actually the easiest for me because the hospital pain meds are so much better than what they gave me! I started getting the gas and chest pain the next day. Yesterday was by far my worst day but I'm feeling much better today other than some chest/neck pain. Good luck!!
  23. I know I'm not getting enough water, but I don't know how to improve! I was bands on Tuesday. I feel like I drink all day long but today for example I've only had 1 water bottle. I think I'm scared of drinking too fast because before surgery I drank water all day long! Any suggestions?

    Youngster Bandster?

I'm 23 and was banded yesterday. In January I started this journey at 326, but my highest weight has been 331. You're definitely not alone!!
  25. I was banded yesterday. Got to the hospital around 6:45, registered, did a urine pregnancy test, and then waited to be called back. I had my two sisters and one of their friends with me, but when I went back I took my youngest sister. I changed into my robe and got settled in the bed. My nurse was super nice. She gave me a pill (already forgot what it was for, heh), and a shot in my belly. Then my IV was started. The surgeon, another nurse, and the anesthesiologist came in to talk to me. Finally, around 9, I was headed back. After moving to the surgery bed, they told me they were dripping something into my IV to calm me down and I was out before too long! I woke up at about 10:20 and then again at 10:45. I was so thirsty!!! I was wheeled into my room and they made sure my breathing and everything was okay, and then I was taken to x-ray to make sure everything was okay. I was so loopy!! And sore. Finally I was taken back to my room for good, where my sisters were waiting. They told me I had a pretty bad hernia and that was why my surgery took longer than usual. Even with that, I was home by 1, I think? I pretty much slept on and off. Today I forced myself to eat a few spoonfuls of broth and some Protein but I have no appetite. I'm still quite sore. This comes at a bad time since we found out today that we'll be moving out on August 15 instead of mid September! I'm excited for what is coming my way.
