5 Days Post Op Chest Tightness?? Is This Normal?
Day 4-5 was worse for me in terms of gas pains. It does take awhile to go away and that pain (which was the worst) could not be helped by anything. It lessens, though I still have it occasionally and I'm 3.5 weeks post-op.

Worst Hernia My Doctor Has Ever Seen!
I also had a bad hernia. I read on here that the gas in your chest area can't really be helped by anything. I've tried everything and I'm back at work waitressing so I know I'm walking enough!! It's gotten better though. I'm post 9 days and still have shoulder pain and light pain if I breathe very deeply. It'll get better!

It's None Of Your Business!
I told one manager and a friend at work. The other managers know I had surgery but don't know what it's for. I'm also not comfortable discussing it. If you're not, tell them you're having a surgery. True Results offered to give us a doctors note without the specific reason (or even "True Results") on the note.

So Glad I Don't Have To Do Liquids For 2 Weeks
I move on to mushies tomorrow and I am STARVING! And emotional! I sincerely applaud those who can do 2 weeks (plus who had to do 2 weeks before surgery, because I just had low carb). I think part of it is that I healed relatively quickly, so I've felt hunger for a few days now. (I know I'm not completely healed, but I hope that makes sense!) I'm also glad to have this outlet. My family is enjoying Subway in the kitchen so I left because, despite a Protein shake and 2 Popsicles, all I can think about is food.

When Could You Sleep On Your Stomach?
It was 3 days. I'm a stomach sleeper so I'm so thankful it was relatively quick!! I still can't really flop down and sleep like I use to but I usually start on my side and work to be on my stomach, slowly.

How Many Carbs Is Low Carb? How Much Fat?
When I was doing my pre op low carb, I had to stay under 20g carbs. Definitely couldn't do that long term!! Even 30 sounds so much better

What Kind Of Job Do You Have?
I'm a server. I only asked for a week off but I have dropped my shifts that are after the week because I don't think I'm going to be okay enough for a 6+ hour shift. I'm going to go back Wednesday and I asked my manager for a light schedule-no doubles, no lounge shifts.

2Nd Day Post Op
It'll get better in a few days! I was also regretting, especially yesterday but you'll start noticing little differences soon.

24 Hours Postop
Sounds normal I was banded Tuesday and that first day was actually the easiest for me because the hospital pain meds are so much better than what they gave me! I started getting the gas and chest pain the next day. Yesterday was by far my worst day but I'm feeling much better today other than some chest/neck pain. Good luck!!

Getting Enough Water
I know I'm not getting enough water, but I don't know how to improve! I was bands on Tuesday. I feel like I drink all day long but today for example I've only had 1 water bottle. I think I'm scared of drinking too fast because before surgery I drank water all day long! Any suggestions?

Youngster Bandster?
I'm 23 and was banded yesterday. In January I started this journey at 326, but my highest weight has been 331. You're definitely not alone!!

Anyone Getting Banded In July?
I will be July 27. I am TOO excited!! Good luck!

Are You Going To Tell Anyone About Your Surgery???
A few family (parents and siblings, one grandparent) know. I haven't told any friends. I had to call off a trip because it's in the time period I expect to be having surgery and told my friends I was getting wisdom teeth removed! I'll probably tell a couple of them eventually. I am by far the largest of my friends and I don't see them understanding.

I'm On The 6 Month Diet
M on month 3 and it's going by quick!! I'm glad I have no set amount of weight to lose and that they aren't strict...mostly. But the first month I was trying my hardest to lose weight and lost as much as 13ish pounds. Then when I went in and they said we focus on changing habits and not weight loss, I definitely took it the wrong way. My eating has been awful. I'm suppose to keep a food journal but I'm too embarrassed. I'm trying to get back on track but it's discouraging to think I can't do this. Any advice, for those who had to wait awhile before surgery?

6 Month Diet?
I'm with UHC and I had to do it. I haven't been given a specific amount-we just talk about changing habits. I'm on month 3 and it goes by quickly!

Insurance Approval And 6 Month Supervised Diet
I am also doing a 6month supervised diet (through True Results of Austin) and thus far, neither the program nor the insurance have said anything about a specific amount of weight, or percentage. Have they for you? I would think if it's a requirement that they wild have already discussed it. If your doctor is thinking its fine, I think it will be. Good luck!

My Dr. Tried To Sway Me To Gastric Bypass/sleeve...help
I feel like the insurance bariatric resources lady I talked to tried to do the same thing. I am sticking with the band. The idea of quicker weight loss sounds nice but the idea of permanently altering my body at 22, and all of the severe side effects outweigh any positives bypass may have.

Failing Home Sleep Study
Second night went a little better. I'm still nervous they won't have enough information, but all I can do it wait and see.

Failing Home Sleep Study
I was sent a home sleep study machine. I used it last night and will need it tonight. I'm scared that I'll need to redo them. I maybe got a combined 1.5 hours of sleep because I generally can only sleep on my stomach but the nasal prongs would fall out. My mom told me not tontake sleeping meds because it'd skew the results but that may be the only way to avoid needing to redo it! Does anyone have any suggestions?

To Tell Or Not To Tell About Lap Band ???
I've only told my sisters and my parents know since my dad is funding it. I'm sure eventuallynword will get out to friends. I may tell 1 or 2 friends so they won't constantly question me. I want to keep it on the down low mostly because I don't want unnecessary pressure and questions.

Just Started The Process!
Hello! My name is Kristyn. I'm 22 years old and I had my first consultation at True Results today. I'm excited! I'm at my highest weight (326 :/) so I have a lot to work for but I'm done with being like this. I've been lurking here for a few weeks and I really like it here.
