I went on a trip for a week and got a little off track with my eating habits. I tried diet soda for the first time and have had about 4 since then. Of course I didn't each much, but all of the choices weren't the healthiest. When I got back on monday my weight was fine but now about 1 week after I have gained 4lbs. My weight has fluctuated for about 3 days from 245-241 (different everyday). So with that being said, either I'm pregnant or it's the trip catching up with me, either way it's BAD!!
I'm really hoping that it's the bad eating though :-/

I can't tell you whether to go through with it or not but I am 24 and I was sleeved December 21, 2011. I started out as 280 and 5'2. Now I weigh 239 (i consider myself a slow looser). I have not had any complications and I don't regret it so far, though I do miss not eating Pasta, bread, and other carbs, but I know that I couldn't do it on my own as I have tried for many years. It has been good so far. I'm not at a point where I can say this was the best decision I've ever made in life because I didn't have any previous medical issues to overcome and I'm not loosing at the rate that I would like, however I have not been 239 since I was in the 9th grade, so I am glad I did this!

I had my surgery Dec. 21. 2011 and I started noticing that my edges were getting thin about 2 weeks ago. I just started using castor oil on them and it seems to be working. I'll really be able to tell after more use, but I think it's working.

I will be 3 months out in march and I will be going on a cruise. Would it be too soon to try a little margarita or a glass of wine? I know there are no nutritional benefits, but I would like to indulge in one if it will not harm me.
Thanks

There's a website called LoveFifi (i think) that sales padded underwear. I ordered a pair with hip and butt pads a while back but I just wanted them as a body shaper because they were the right length, not like the Shapewear shorts that come down to your knees.

My surgeon gave me 3 options for B12: sublingual tablets, nasal spray once per week, or injection once per month. I originally wanted to do the spray but I have been using the tablets. I can't say that I notice a huge difference though, so I may need to try the spray or the injections for a higher dosage.

Hey ladies! I know we aren't supposed to take whole pills and Aleve used to knock my cramps out in 1o mins. Now that you're sleeved, what are you taking for menstrual cramps?

I don't think the alcohol is a good idea. My largest incision next to my navel had a gap and it started leaking a small amount of Fluid. My surgeon told me to keep it clean and put a bandaid on it. It closed up in about 2 or 3 days. The bandaid seemed to help it heal much faster. Maybe because it could breathe more?

Bcole, Thank you!! :smile1: I'm glad you called and I'm thrilled that you're going to follow his instructions. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly. I feel much better knowing that you've been proactive! Now I can go finish raking the yard! :smile1:
LMBO! Thank you Lisa! I really appreciate your concern. I kind of had that "couldn't be me" attitude, not anymore! I will be getting these liquids in!

Ok, I called the doctor and he said that since I don't have a problem keeping the liquids down, I need to push myself for 2days by drinking g2 gatorade and Water. If it gets worse, he told me to call him and they will give me an iv. He wasn't too worried about it, he said it was kind of common this early out but I def told me that I knew better and I need to get that Fluid in LOL. Hope this helps some of you

So if I'm on the way to being dehydrated, is there a way to fix it at home? Like drinking gatorade and upping my liquid intake? It's not an extreme light headed feeling, very minor (i've been dizzy/lightheaded before and this is definitely not an extreme case).
I really don't want to go to the hospital if I can help it. Thanks guys!

I would say give the dr a call it could also be your blood pressure. We're you on blood pressure meds before surgery? If so they may be to strong now causing your blood pressure to bottom out and giving you that light headed feeling. Let us know.
I wasn't on any meds before surgery so I bet it's the liquid intake :0(. I'm getting gatorade today and I'll call the doctor after a couple days if it doesn't help. He is such a stickler about liquids and I know I've been slacking for about a week so I know he'll chew me out lol.

Grrr! I was hoping no one would mention dehydration! I have been slacking on my liquids since I've been able to start eating real food. That is probably the problem. I've never been a drinker, but when I was on a liquid diet it was easier because that's all I could have. I'll up my liquid intake starting today.
Also how long do us sleevers have the risk of becoming dehydrated? Or is this a life long thing?

I have been feeling a bit light headed since Monday when I started taking all of my Vitamins (I'm not saying the Vitamins are causing the problem, this is just when I noticed it).
I know this is not really a lot of info, but does anyone know what could be causing this? It's not extreme but it makes me kind of tired. When I stand up I my body feels kind of heavy and I don't feel like doing much. I am 1 month and 3 days post op.
Thanks guys!

DOS 12/21: 5'2 290 size 22/24 1x -2x tops
Today: 5'2 257 size 20
Also I've never been into "just sticking to my size" when shopping. I have things, from H&M and F21 that are size large.

That is the best approach so early out, measuring your portions. Your nerve endings have been cut and you will be a bit numb in your stomach. It would be hard to tell if you are over stuffing your sleeve and that can be a bit dangerous. Keep doing it, your doing a great job.
Thank you so much! Good thing it doesn't hurt in my chest, I can just feel it. No issues, I was just curious to see if I was the only one.

It's kind of hard to gage when to stop eating when I'm "not hungry" because I am NEVER hungry. I eat because I have to so I just make sure I have only 4 oz at a time.
-
I've noticed that since I was sleeved, I don't get the same full feeling when I eat. Instead of feeling full in my stomach like I did pre-sleeve, I know get the full feeling more in my chest.
Does anyone else feel the same?
-
I was sleeved on 12/21 and when I went for my post op appt on 1/19, I was down 26lbs.

I can't speak directly for you, but my doctor told me to call him ASAP if I had any numbness or pain in my legs at all. I'd say get it checked out just in case

Maybe I am eating too much or too fast as well...I ate 1 egg (my first time) today and it came right up. It didn't make me feel sick, but my mouth started to Water and I know what that means, time to worship the porcelain god smh!
I also tried to eat about 2 tbsp of pureed tuna and I'm feeling the same way but trying to keep it down. I ate twice as much of the same tuna yesterday and was fine. I'm getting so frustrated...

I'm really starting to get frustrated with my weight loss progress. I know there is a such thing as a "slow loser" but my surgeon seems to think that I should be at about 60lbs down this far out. I really hope I have not plateaued. I don't eat breads, pastas, rice, or potatoes. Should I go back to Protein Drinks only for a while? Any suggestions would be helpful.
