  1. Not a bad question @ all. I think most of us that have made this decision to take this journey had similar concerns. I haven't had my surgery yet, I have mine on 12/22. However I know people that have and basically you can eat some of the same things just in less quanities. You will probably want to stay away from bread and carbonated drinks. I would research and definitely get info on this site. As far as vomiting, from what I have researched and from what my doctor has told me, you won't vomit unless you eat too much, too fast, or do not chew up your food. Hopefully this helps you and makes you feel better about this.

  2. I do not think it is anything wrong with "treating" yourself a little bit once in a great will. If you have one cookie it won't you. Just do not make it a habit. If you constantly deprive yourself you will most likely fail and constantly gorge. Just remember though, only do it occasionally with one cookie.

  3. Fellow banders,

Has anyone else experienced this... I've had dozens of family and friends tell me to "eat it up" while I can before my surgery. Others criticize me for having it done before a holiday because I will be excluded from family meals. But food is what got me into this situation in the first place. I have been avoiding family get togethers because of the negative comments I've been getting.

    Any thoughts?

    Windy

Windy absolutely, I haven't told many people, in fact my wife, parents, and sister are the only people that know. Everyone else thinks I am just on a diet. I don't need the negativity with this. So I have kept it in a small circle. People expected for me to show up to my wife's family holiday party and crush some food but they are disappointed that I am not going to do it. Stay focused on what you do, and trust that there will be sabatouers along the way. Just stay strong. Make sure you have a tight inner circle that can keep you on track. My wife has given the strength already a few times to stick to my liquid diet when all I wanted was food. Hang there, we all got your back!

  4. I would go to another doctor and have them check. You have a lot of co-morbidities so I would think that you would qualify. The only thing that may be an issue is your BMI. There are websites to go to to check your weight and see where you fall on the chart. Don't give up, seek a second opinion. If your insurance declines find out why. If you do wind up paying your self you could possibly get a tax write off for expenses, check into that as well. Your doctor can probably tell you more with that. There is still hope. I hope it all works out for you.

  5. Hello everyone, I am new to the group but I decided to start my journey in September. I am currently in the Pre-op liquid diet phase. I am in my fourth day, my first three days were rough. I was craving so much food, lol. Things seem to have gotten better though. So I get my band surgery on 12/22. I am excited about it and nervous @ the same time. I have been doing a lot of research to prepare myself, also my doctor and his staff are great. I am developing my support group, and yes you guys are apart of it. I plan on asking for advice, giving advice, and being your supporter as I hope that you will be mine. Anyway, enough of my rambling, I look forward to getting to know each one of you through our journey to success. Sincerely, Vin
