Not a bad question @ all. I think most of us that have made this decision to take this journey had similar concerns. I haven't had my surgery yet, I have mine on 12/22. However I know people that have and basically you can eat some of the same things just in less quanities. You will probably want to stay away from bread and carbonated drinks. I would research and definitely get info on this site. As far as vomiting, from what I have researched and from what my doctor has told me, you won't vomit unless you eat too much, too fast, or do not chew up your food. Hopefully this helps you and makes you feel better about this.

I do not think it is anything wrong with "treating" yourself a little bit once in a great will. If you have one cookie it won't you. Just do not make it a habit. If you constantly deprive yourself you will most likely fail and constantly gorge. Just remember though, only do it occasionally with one cookie.

Fellow banders,
Has anyone else experienced this... I've had dozens of family and friends tell me to "eat it up" while I can before my surgery. Others criticize me for having it done before a holiday because I will be excluded from family meals. But food is what got me into this situation in the first place. I have been avoiding family get togethers because of the negative comments I've been getting.
Any thoughts?
Windy
Windy absolutely, I haven't told many people, in fact my wife, parents, and sister are the only people that know. Everyone else thinks I am just on a diet. I don't need the negativity with this. So I have kept it in a small circle. People expected for me to show up to my wife's family holiday party and crush some food but they are disappointed that I am not going to do it. Stay focused on what you do, and trust that there will be sabatouers along the way. Just stay strong. Make sure you have a tight inner circle that can keep you on track. My wife has given the strength already a few times to stick to my liquid diet when all I wanted was food. Hang there, we all got your back!

Good luck Angel, I am on my journey as well. I get my surgery 12/22. I am finding a lot of support here, I believe you will as well.

I would go to another doctor and have them check. You have a lot of co-morbidities so I would think that you would qualify. The only thing that may be an issue is your BMI. There are websites to go to to check your weight and see where you fall on the chart. Don't give up, seek a second opinion. If your insurance declines find out why. If you do wind up paying your self you could possibly get a tax write off for expenses, check into that as well. Your doctor can probably tell you more with that. There is still hope. I hope it all works out for you.

That is great that we are getting it done the same day, we can discuss each others experience through it. Congratulations ready for a new me, Are you able to workout yet? If so, what all are able to do?

I have heard six months to a year. My doctor said six months, then occasional wine is ok. No carbonated beverages and no hard liquor. So in other words the last time I had Patron was the last time I will have Patron.

I enjoy a light beer on a Friday evening, does it bother the band like a soda will?
Yes it will. The carbonation will effect, cause bloating, and could casue vomiting.

Absolutely ride over and get down to business. You will get better results that way. Good luck with that.

Hello everyone, I am new to the group but I decided to start my journey in September. I am currently in the Pre-op liquid diet phase. I am in my fourth day, my first three days were rough. I was craving so much food, lol. Things seem to have gotten better though. So I get my band surgery on 12/22. I am excited about it and nervous @ the same time. I have been doing a lot of research to prepare myself, also my doctor and his staff are great. I am developing my support group, and yes you guys are apart of it. I plan on asking for advice, giving advice, and being your supporter as I hope that you will be mine. Anyway, enough of my rambling, I look forward to getting to know each one of you through our journey to success. Sincerely, Vin

Has anyone has surgery, lost all of their weight, and have not needed plastic surgery for saggy skin? Also what is roughly the cost tummy tucks?

Eat a good carb before going to workout, IMMEDIATELY AFTER drink a Protein Shake. Always make sure that you are hydrated.

I have mine done 12/22. I am excited about my new journey. Good luck to everyone, we can do this!

I guess it all comes down to how much weight your doctor wants you to lose. Reading some of these diets I wish I was as fortunate to have these options. Things are getting better though from a hungar standpoint. Just wished it tasted better. Oh well, all eyes on the prize.

Linda you will need to go to a sleep study location to be diagnosed. They will have you stay the night to observe, probably twice.

Hello, I am a newbie. I am currently in my pre-op diet phase where I drink liquids. My surgeon has me eating/drinking medifast food. Some of it is awful. I am struggling here. I want some real food. Things are getting easier but I struggle with some of these food choices. What did/are you doing to help you get through this face? My surgery is 12/22, no turning back now.
