  1. PAAAHHH!!!! I can't WAIT for this to be my problem!!
  2. Do you have a gall bladder? When the GB is going bad, one can get the runs shortly after every meal. It is the same after the offending organ is removed. The liver calls for bile and doesn't get it, so it doesn't know what to do with the food being processed, so it just dumps it on through your system in the form of diarrhea. Just a thought from personal experience. May not be that at all. I've also noticed that too fatty of foods will do that to me right now.
  3. Several hours after surgery, i started throwing up, and did it several times until the leak test the next morning when I could start drinking something. I saw my surgeon in the hallway and told him I was scared that I had popped staples. He just kinda giggled at me and said "don't worry, you can't bust them throwing up." So I felt much better. Another leak test a week later confirmed that he was correct. When you push in the bathroom, that is your abdominal muscles. Your stomach should not be hurt by that. Just watch for symptoms described above, but it is highly unlikely you did any damage.
  4. DAAAANG!!! You must be struttin' like a peacock!!! That's awesome!!! How many months did it take to get to this weight?

  7. OH YA!!! UH HUH!! OH YA!!! 17 day stall broken!!! I didn't do anything different than I had been doing since the beginning, and today the scale had moved AAAAANNNNDDDD I'm now in Two-WhateverLand!!!! I've been at 300 all this time, and lo and behold!! I'm at 296!! YES!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNDDDD...... I zipped and buttoned a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in years, and two weeks ago they did not fit. I got smaller during the stall, so have heart all you fellow stalled out people! Keep doing what you're doing and it will happen. Here's a couple pics from the beginning to now. 44 lbs later...Do you think there's a difference? (They stacked in the wrong order :/)
  8. OH, my stomach never stopped growling while I was on liquids!! It did not stop until I got to blender foods. I finally got relief then. I'm on "soft food" now and as I sit here, my stomach is growling. I feel like I could eat something. And I take my acid reducers faithfully. I've been taking those for years, so I know what that feels like, boy howdy. If I am lax about having a protein shake at least once a day (all at once OR split up) my stomach will read me the riot act. But I was for sure feeling hunger while still on liquids. (even protein shakes and cream soups.) Nothing sticks around long enough. It'll be over soon though. Just gotta plow on through it! You got this!!!

Target Doesn't Want My Money! A Rant.

That's how mine used to be until the remodel!!! I don't know what that's all about!
  16. Yep. That is so true. One can be very malnourished with a whole stomach if only junk is eaten. Been there, done that!
  17. No points for leftover pain meds!! Feel free.
  18. There are no issues with the sleeve causing malnutrition. The RNY procedure does work on a malabsorbtive (i can't spell that word) basis, as much of the small intestine is bypassed. The rare complications I've read about with the sleeve have to do with staple line leakage from a stapler misfire (RARE) or if someone is converting from band to sleeve, there can be problems from the damage that the band caused. Sometimes scar tissue or erosion make the staple line leak. We have to take Vitamins, but not NEARLY to the degree that RNY patients have to. I really had a hard time finding ANY bad press about the sleeve. The national average of percentage of leaks is 1%. My doctor's average is .01%, so I was very very confident about the whole thing. I did not want a foreign object in my body, and I did not want my innards cut and reconfigured, so this procedure was perfect for me. Simple, clean, minimal risk. I couldn't be happier. There are not really any long term studies, so to speak, as this has been a stand alone procedure for a lot less time than the RNY, DS and the band. I think maybe....10 years-ish? It's been done for many years as part of a Duodenal Switch and in other rare instances. Check my information, as I don't want to give you any wrong data. I'm just pulling this stuff out of the side of my brain here....

    The Last Supper

I called in November to make my surgery appointment for February 13th. Before I got to the pre op diet, I gained 10 pounds. I KNEW certain foods would haunt me if I didn't have it ONE more time. Krispy Kreme, a Mc D's double cheese (a few of those over that time), fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, Rio Grande Mud Pie from Flying Star (here in ABQ.) to name a few. I only have ONE thing haunting me. I saw a multi layered red velvet cake just OOOOZING with cream cheese frosting (one of my FAVORITES) sitting in the case at Flying Star, and I was going to go back and get some and never did. I still see it sitting there looking oozy and delicious. I think I made myself sick a couple of times during this sorta manic phase I went through. It was not the best thing I could have done, but i don't completely regret it because it made me see the need for change even more so. I don't even think about those foods anymore, really. (just that red velvet! Even that is not a big deal though) Talk about your food funerals. SHEESH. I really outdid myself!! I can't say "NO, DON'T do it!" Because you have to do what you have to do to make yourself ok with this. I lost 15 lbs on the pre op liquids, but only 5 was "new" loss. Oh well. I'm on the downhill now, and life is new again!

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words

Well, I have to admit that ALOT of the time I mix these words up. But ALLOT of the time I don't. Sometimes I even forget the space in A LOT, but not very often. Because, as you know, they are two words. But ALOT of people don't remember that.
  22. My stall just broke yesterday after 2 1/2 weeks! I thought I was going to go insane! It IS perfectly normal. Your body is going through a normal process. Search for "stalls" on this website, and you will find some good explanations. Just keep doing what you're doing and try to stay off the scale for a while. i know it's hard. You are still losing, and you will see it in your clothes, face and waistline if not on the scales. I now fit into a pair of pants I did not fit into 2 weeks ago, and that happened during the stall, so have heart!
