    Normal Meal Size?

I am 5 months out and I was told at a recent appt that I should never be eating more than 1/2 cup of ANYthing at one time, and to have that much 3 or 4 times a day. If you eat all you can hold, you may stall your weight loss, not to mention make your sleeve a little roomier. (it doesn't "stretch" per se, but the size does increase slightly over time) I try to eat the same things every day: Breakfast: Carbmaster yogurt with 1/4 cup Fiber One mid morning: Protein shake after the gym lunch: 4 oz tuna salad with light mayo afternoon snack: a cheese stick and half a handful of Trader Joe sesame sticks Dinner: One grilled chicken thigh and maybe a small veg. evening: 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 3 tblsp. of low sugar fruit preserves. That's a typical day for me. It does vary slightly from time to time.

    Introduction

Hi!! Glad you found a the surgery and this site! You can get SCADS of info on this site from people who have used the various Mexico docs. I think there is even a specific forum for Mexico patients. Check it out. I'm sure they will all answer your questions readily! WElcome

    Help! Bougie Size Questions. 46Fr

This may help you some. The 46 will be somewhere between those last two pens. You can see the difference between the sizes is really very little until you get to the 54. Somewhere in there you start to get into the stretchy part of the stomach which is what they want to avoid, so you may ask about that. Also, i was told by my surgeon's office that the real success of this surgery is based on the removal of the Grehlin, which is that hormone your stomach produces that tells you that you're hungry. Many people with the 40fr are doing just fine. I've never seen anyone on here with a 46, but there could be. Just ask him about all of that. See if you can talk to some of his patients.
  5. A bra that wasn't orthopedic looking, and a workout top with NO SLEEVES! (gasp!)

    Is This Forum Still Active?

I REALLY wanted this surgery and at the same time I was REALLY scared to do it. I mean...what if I was some freak statistic and I died or something??? I have three boys and a husband counting on my being around for a while! I made the decision with my husband, knowing I had picked the best surgeon I could find, and more importantly, I had to remember that GOD is totally and completely sovereign over EVERY molecule in the universe. He knows the beginning to the end. Not one moment of worry was going to change what was ordained by God. I made the decision and knew that whatever the outcome it would be to His glory. Even still, I was a freaked out mess the whole week before surgery, and just prayed all day. I'm happy to report I've had a flawless recovery and fantastic loss. I'm very very happy. Glad you got this going!

    How Is Everyone So Happy?

Interesting. everyone really does go into this with different expectations. I always encourage pre oppers to do as much research as possible. For some reason I went into this expecting complications and problems afterwards and all sorts of horrors, because I knew I could always be one of the small percentage with problems. I didn't care. I hated being fat SOOOO much that I just would have rather dealt with problems than stay that way. I hated food, I hated me. I hated the way my life was going. I didn't care if I ever ate again. I took the plunge and to my relief, I have no problems whatsoever and the weight is melting away. THAT is how I can be so happy. I expECTED trouble and didn't get it. I'm not saying you went into this blind or anything, but everyone needs to do this with the knowledge that there very well could be trouble. I really hope the bad stuff ends for you very soon. If time doesn't fix it, I pray the doc will!!
  8. I DON'T know!!! But to this day when I even imagine the taste, it brings up that "i wanna yak" feeling in the back of my throat! Something in them....... ????? I got to the point where I was almost gagging just getting the bottle down out of the cabinet.

    Pedis, Pie And Other Stuff...

So my sister in law is in town. Why is that important?? Because it's time for our annual tradition of pedi/pie day!!! Uh oh....how can I do this? I've had WLS and I cannot engage in such activities!! Awwwww bullpucky! Well, there is a place here in Albuquerque called Flying Star, and they have the best desserts for miles and miles around! Especially the Rio Grande Mud Pie, which is what started our pedi/pie day adventures in the first place. I did not know how this would go since I'm not supposed to be eating these naughty bits of things in the first, second and third place! So here's what I decided: I conserved my intake to limited high protein items for the morning and only ate what i needed to stay standing upright. Then after our pedi, we went to Flying Star and I ordered carrot cake and coffee. MMMMMMM!!! So I take my huge slab of flour, sugar and fat to the table and cut off about an inch and a half of the pointed end and ate that, and boxed up the rest for my kids. I was TOTally satisfied with- ohhhhh-- approximately 2 oz of carrot cake. I actually FELT like I ate the whole thing because my system is SO not used to that anymore! (I knew I was full when, on my way to the bathroom, I saw a poster with a picture of a huge burger and a shake and it said "purchase any burger and get a shake for $3.00," and I almost yakked right there!! Oh, the thought of eating that burger and shake was horrible!! I'm sure it came with fries or something too. People really eat that much??? Oh ya--I used to!) Well, the good new is- I logged it ALL on MFP (dooter69-go witness for yourself;) AND I still had 400 calories (half of my intake) left for dinner and an evening snack! (always cottage cheese and fruit). So...It just goes to show you- that you CAN have your cake and eat it too!! (Just don't eat the whole thing, and be sure to keep track of it, and don't do it to often, and...and...and.....) Good day.....goooooood day....
  13. But then again.....how would we know because you don't have ANY PICTURES!!!!! I've already given this lecture once tonight. No teasing us with huge losses. We need before and afters. We NEEEEEEEED them!!!! hehe
  14. UH HUH...UH HUH.... Seeee????? Pretty cool, huh!
  15. I was in a stall for six weeks, and to break it I decreased my carbs, increased cardio and decreased weight lifting.
  16. My first thought off the bat is you're not getting enough fluids. I know you said you are getting them in, but you live in Texas, so I know it's not chilly there. You probably need to increase your fluids exponentially. Try G2 or Powerade zero (no calories. G2 has a few). Sounds like you need some electrolytes and fluids. I think we have a tendency to run short on fluids faster than others. I get the pounding when dehydrated. This is just a thought. If you are concerned about your symptoms, see a doc right away.
  17. I get that all the time, but it's because I need to go to the chiropractor. My neck is messed up. Do you have any other alarming symptoms, or just that?
  18. You will be eating again before you know it. It's momentary, light affliction and you can DO IT!! Just be patient. sugar free candies are helpful too. (hard candies, not the chocolates and stuff) We're in a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself and remember the prize!! SKINNY BUTT!!!!!!

    Camelback Bottles?

OOOOooohhhhhh I didn't know they made bottles too! I seeeeee. I don't know why that wouldn't work!
  21. Well, so far it sounds like you're on the right track!! Yes, your tastebuds do change some. Some of it comes back and some does not. I was a total chocoholic before surgery, and now, it really is not that impressive. It's very strange. I've had a few bites and every time I wait for that rush of pleasure and wonderment that chocolate gives... and ......*fizzle* It can be a good thing!
