I was just thinking about this! I went out last night and had a little too much to drink. To add to my hungover headache, I decided to weigh. Bad idea. I gained 2 pounds from last night.
No more alcohol for me for a while.
I have found myself drinking waaay too much wine. I can seriously have 3 glasses a night, every night. I KNOW this is holding me back with my weight loss, and am not quite sure what to do.

Elsa, Wow that is so soon! I hope you figure it out.
hi im just 6 week after surgery and i having the same pain i went to the DR. today for my 6 week follow he send me to do ultrasound some hopefully i dont go for surgery hope you feel better
Some people on here do there's taken out at the same time! It seems so much more convenient!
Baffles me why they don't just take them out to begin with. I am pre-op---already have gallbladder pain from time to time--and my surgeon will not take it out when he does the sleeve.
Sounds like a gallstone attack! I had mine taken out 2 years ago... The first time I ever had one (about 6 years ago) I thought I was having a heart attack. Went to the ER and none of the tests indicated gallstones and the doc there said I was probably having a panic attack. I dealt with it off and on, progressively getting worse before finding the PCP that I have now who correctly diagnosed the problem.
Is your pain episodic or constant? If it's constant, it may be something else. Gallstone attacks tend to go away after a few hours.
The pain lasts for about 10 - 20 minutes right now. It usually occurs in the evening or nighttime. If I do end up going I guess I should just say that I am almost certain it is gallstones.

I am around 4 months post op and I think I am starting to have attacks. I get a sudden sharp pain that starts in my middle right back and radiates to under my ribs on the right side. Occasionally it will spread towards my shoulder.
At first, a few weeks ago, it was a dull ache. Now it is becoming more like a severe cramp that has had me double over once.
From what I have seen though is that people don't start having these problems until much farther out than I am.
So when did you first start feeling pain from your gallbladder? How long did you stick it out for before going in?

What is the typical time period for someone to have gallstones?
I am only 4 months post op and I think I am starting to have attacks. :/

I wore Jeans 3 days post op. I can't live without them! I tucked in a cami so that they wouldn't rub my incisions. But I wear jeans that hit right at my bellybutton or a little lower so it wasn't too bad.
congrats!when was ur surgery?i actually havent tried on any jeans yet cause my belly incision still feels kinda tender.cant wait to try some on though :-)

Congrats! It is a great feeling, I remember when I could finally squeeze into 18s.
Good job!

You should know right away!
When I eat sugar I kind of "dump" I have a hot flash and have to use the restroom within 10 minutes.
That being said, I second the stay away from ice cream! Even if it is sugar free, sugar subs can make you crave it even more. I super regret eating sugar a month or two out because now I find it super hard to stay away from it. As others on here waited four or five months to try it and now find it too sweet. I wish that is how it was for me.

Everyone is different but I had tons of energy by then. I was actually never tired after surgery at all. I would say to just prepare!
Maybe cook some meals and freeze them before hand so you can just pop them in the oven.

I am between 5'5" and 5'6" and my goal weight is 140, which is still in the high BMI range for me. I would like to be around 25% body fat. Last time I got my body fat checked in a hydrostatic weighing system I was around 58% body fat.
I am more concerned about body fat/size than weight.
I would be totally ok with weighing 170 but being a 6. I have a super biker friend who is like that. Muscle weighs more!

I aim for 80 a day at least. My doc told me the same thing as Foxbin's NUT did. I was told that once I hit more than a few months out I should plan on upping that if I go to the gym often.

Some people suggest seeing someone to cope with those things and most that have insurance must do this before the surgery.
Others, myself included, that did self pay didn't have to. I found myself struggling with emotional eating still and the feeling of guilt when I did eat "bad" things. I went to see a therapist here at UCSB and they helped a lot. Maybe you should consider it.

I have had this, a month ago, I freaked out and went to the ER. It was just some blood from the toughness of my stool. I wasn't straining or having pain, but apparently it was still tearing. They just told me to keep it clean and it should heal up just fine. It did.
I though there was a ton of blood as well, but then I though about how Water can make it appear that way.
You may want to play it safe and go to a clinic or something. If you don't have insurance most clinics have a "sliding scale" donation. I have never donated though.

I don't low carb like tons on here do. It is mainly because I eat lots of dairy products, like Kefir, that have tons of carbs.
I typically get no more than 50g a day, which is still "low carb" to "normal" people. You shouldn't have an easy time getting anywhere near that goal. I can't even eat half a piece of toast.

Thanks everyone! It does feel so great
I will have to post some progress pictures soon!

I am on Depo too and I hadn't had a period in almost 4 years at the time of my surgery.
I missed a hot before surgery, due to risk of clots so I had a three month break in between.
I had spotting non-stop from two weeks after surgery until A few weeks ago when I got my new shot. It finally slowed down and then stopped.
The spotting was more like a period though, I couldn't use a tampon but had to have a think/medium pad on at all times.
My GYN said the next shot stopped it because it redistributed the hormone to my system. But almost 4 months of spotting.
I have not had a period in years thanks to Depo and Implanon. Since surgery however, I have been on it 6 weeks straight! Seriously?! Anyone else with affliction have any insight on it's ceasing?!?!

Ok, more like "I". But still!
I am, as of this morning, halfway to goal! In just under 4 months I have lost 60 pounds and have just 60 more to go!
60 seems so much more doable than the 120 I started at.
Losing is certainly getting way harder than it was and I think I am really going to have to buckle down on what I eat and how often I work out!
Just wanted to share with you guys and thank you all for always being here

I get bruises very easily know. I actually think it may be because when I bump into something it doesn't just sink into more cushioning but hits bone instead.
I don't know, just a theory.

My hunger was nonexistent until a month and a half out from surgery. Now I get hungry when it is time to eat, every 4 hours or so, but not like before. Instead it is just a hollow feeling kind of. It is much better than feeling starving though!

I guess my plan is a little different. I am allowed to drink right up until 5 minutes before eating and 30 mins after eating. I do take a few small sips during my meal, I can't go without it sometimes. By a "few" I mean 1 or 2.
It does take some time. Especially when you go out to eat and they automatically bring you water!

Cheri, I think she meant without surgery as an eye opener for the OP. I have heard something like 5% of overweight people who lose it on there own will be able to maintain that loss.
Please link a relevant study. I've never heard this statistic related to WLS before - I've heard similar, though considerably higher statistics for loss without surgery. In every reference I've seen, the 2, 5, and 6 year outcomes are still between 65-80% excess weight lost.

Wow I guess I am the only one who tells EVRYBODY! I mean family, friends, coworkers, bosses!
There hasn't been anyone I have felt like would deter my decision or that I would even care what they thought.
If a friend hadn't told me that she had it done I wouldn't have ever been here and been so happy. This is why I tell everyone.

what is a bezoar?

The person with the bezoar had them shelled too. Something about the actual bean. Maybe it was the Fiber?
She had them salted and steamed I think.

I got a DVD of mine and it is really cool. I would have loved to have been awake and see Dr. Ponce's lapro technique. But I am also from a Med family and have seen/done it all. I do my own stitches lol
