    Craving Chocolate ...help

It depends on how far out you are. If you are far enough to eat it, then eat it. A small piece of dove would fix that and make you feel better. I got the sleeve so I wouldn't have to diet forever. If you are still on mushies/puree or liquids grab a pudding or popsicle. Or drink a protein shake!

Is This Allowed On Pre Op Diet?

I think the meat is probably fine. If it is bigger than your palm only eat a little bit of it. But remember, the veggies are probably meant as steamed or something light not soaked in oil or cheese. You can probably order steamed veggies instead of mushroom and potatoes.

    No Bowel Movement

I didn't have a movement until maybe a day or two ago, so like day 9. But that is because I ate some pudding I think and started eating creamed soups. Since then I haven't had one again. But I don't feel constipated. So I am not going to worry about it unless I get some discomfort. I do pee quite often though!

Birth Control Pre Op And Post Op?

That is so funny because the pill made me gain weight! I actually lost weight while on depo and then I got hurt and stopped working out and got sad and ate and well you know the rest.

    College Students

I am totally fine now! No pain at all. My pain was minimal, only from gas and only for the first two days. After that slightly sore stomach but it kind of just resembled working out your core a lot. Not like I had surgery. I drive to campus now, I live about 30 min walk away or 15 min bike ride away. But decided to drive and walk around campus from there. Today I still walked about 15 mins from my car to my class and back. I just wasn't sure if I had enough energy to walk for an hour, twice today. I plan on jumping back on my bike in a few weeks though!

    College Students

I just got my surgery done about a week and a half ago, during the end of finals week. I had all spring break to rest and and back at work and school today. I work 25 hours a week and am taking 21 units this quarter. I have told my Profs and let them know everything. They have been very nice about it but very realistic. We don't coddle at UCSB and I was told if I miss class that it is my problem, if I miss an exam it will not be made up. I understand that. I chose to do this now, I could have waited until Summer. It is totally possible to manage. Just grab a shake if you don't have time to stop and make a full meal for lunch and remember to drink plenty of water!

Birth Control Pre Op And Post Op?

I am on Depo, well was, but got off it before the surgery. I actually missed my shot about 7 months ago and decided to give myself a breather, my fiance and I live in different towns and see each other maybe once every 3 months. So I went into the surgery without it and I still haven't had a period. I like that, my mom is freaked out Anywho, my doc didn't have a problem with depo. It does cause blood clots though, at least their website says it does. But that isn't really an issue because you should be walking two to three hours out from surgery and continue every hour or so. You can always start your shot a month late. Just be careful and use a back up method for a while after. Most women say they aren't fertile for 6 months after they get off the shot, but there are some rare cases where women are able to conceive two weeks out!

    Help....12 Days Post

I am around the same stage as you are and I know how you feel about the eating. I don't really get hungry, but make sure to eat. When I eat though, I don't really get full. Tonight I ate about two tablespoons of ricotta with some sauce and didn't feel any fullness after. Made me a bit nervous. :/ As for Antacids, have any non-prescription ones worked well for you, Indymom? I don't have a PCP per se and would have to go to the clinic at my University. Pain to do so.

    Lets Talk Cup Sizes

I am only a little over a week out and have lost around 15 pounds. I noticed that there was a gap in my bra cup. I decided to break out the tape and have already lost 1/2 inch from my bust! I am so sad. You will most definitely lose a cup size or two. But hopefully it will look proportionate with your new body
  10. I know of some gals who have this eating disorder. Don't start it, it is not worth the risk.

    Bowel Movements After Surgery.

I am on week two and have not had constipation. I did not have a bm for a week or so, but no discomfort or anything. I just assumed it was from lack of solids and my body would go when it was ready. When I started full liquids I had a normal bm. I guess I just needed more solids in my diet. So far no diarrhea or constipation for me. Fingers crossed!
  12. They actually have a bench/bed thing which my aunt complained about, but to be honest she complains about everything! I did like the whole team, the drivers were great, speedy and on time. Everyone else was good too. The only thing I dismissed was the nutritionist. He seemed to focus more on fruits/yogurts/low calorie stuff instead of Protein. But since everyone here is so open about their diets I figured it wouldn't be too hard to find something that would work for me,
  13. I went to INT but we dropped into florence to pick someone up. INT is tiny, which is nice, only 7 patients to a floor. You have the nurses full attention. INT has nice nurses who are efficient and only poke once. It was sparkling. Florence was bigger, but not that big. A little less clean looking, but I am sure not less clean. I have heard iffy things about the nurse staff here. Some people have said that they can't find a vein or that they don't respond all the time. Also, INT staff was the same for each night and day. So you got comfy with a nurse. Hope this helps!
  14. I am one of the gals that 2bsmallagain was talking about. I am 20, just turned a few months ago, and currently a sophomore at UCSB. I have been fluffy for a very long time, and it just seems to get worse as time goes on. My family has a history of diabetes, heart conditions and weak bones. I have tried everything from nutri-system to juice fasts to hardcore gym sessions only to always gain it back. I knew that if I wanted to be able to have a family and be healthy and travel and enjoy my life that I needed to get this done. I didn't want to waste anymore of my time being unhealthy and unhappy when I see so many around me enjoying life. Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself. It is very tough but I think worth it. I would wait until summer to get it done though. I did mine, a week ago, during our spring break so I had time to recover. We will support you no matter what path you chose to take.

    Bananas? Good Or Bad?

I was told no bananas for the first 2 -3 months because it is clumpy and can get stuck or feel heavy/uncomfortable when we eat it. They did say I could freeze them and then blend them to get an ok consistency if I REALLY was craving them.
  16. Last night we went out to dinner and everyone ordered dessert. I figured sugar free popsicle is like a frozen juice treat so I had some of my mom's sorbet and even a bite of my sister's green tea ice cream. I felt bad about it, but then I realized I am getting in about 300 calories right now so I guess it was ok.
  17. Hi, I have posted about my experience already here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/33782-i-have-been-sleeved/page__fromsearch__1 But I can give a quick recap. My surgery went super quickly! My video is only 29 minutes long! Dr. Ponce was great, he was attentive and even scolded his own team for not bringing me sleeping medication before 9 (once). The whole team was great too and I felt very comfortable. The hospital was super clean and small, which I liked. The nurses were the same day ones and the same night ones so you didn't get a stranger They found my veins super quickly and were very accommodating. My coordinator, Trish, was fantastic. She really went the extra mile to make sure I had everything I wanted. She brought my aunt food, she took us on a mini roadtrip, she took pictures for us. Honestly, she didn't have to do any of that but she did, So that was not so quick but if you have any questions about it, just ask me!

Milk Or Water With Protein Skakes

Another alternative is a low fat or 2% lactose free milk. I have always been a little lactose intolerant so tend to buy it anyway.

    When Can You Drive Again?

I haven't taken my pain meds since the day after surgery. I drove the fourth day out for about 3 hours! No problems!

How Are You One Week Post-Opers

I find I can hold a lot of liquid too. But it makes sense to me after watching my contrast test. The Barium went right through the sleeve. So I guess it winds through our intestines and our bladder just holds it. As for the pain, Tattoodmom, could it be that you rolled over at night? I love sleeping on my stomach so I had to put pillows around me so I wouldn't go more than my side. I did roll over in my sleep the first night and woke up in so much pain! Or could it be gas that built up while you slept? Hope you find some relief!

How Are You One Week Post-Opers

I am not quite one week out yet, 5 days, but I feel terrific. I have been doing G2, broth, water, tea, diluted juices, crystal light and some sugar free popsicles. I haven't been getting in enough liquids, about 36 - 40 oz a day but I am trying! I don't feel too tired or sleepy. I just feel a little gassy still -- not all the time but just when I drink something.
  22. Hey everyone! I have been MIA for a few days. I was busy getting sleeved Ponce de leon and Trish are amazing! I have to admit it was slightly more painful than I imagined -- really just the gas pains. When people mentioned gas pains I thought normal gas, like abdomen, but I was wrong. I woke up with terrible pain in my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack. Other than that, everything has gone well. I am in the hotel now and am relaxing. I still have some gas pains that nothing seems to be helping but oh well. Now time to nap!

    Unisom

Hey everyone! I had a quick question, I forgot to ask about sleeping pills! Would it be ok to take Unisom? If not now, less than a week out, when? Thanks!
  24. The drain freaked me out and I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't until the last day, but that was my fault I accidentally pulled on it. I was a big baby when the Dr. came in to take it out and was shocked at how pain-free it was. It was a strange feeling but definitely not painful. I had it in for two days.
