Why Cant They Just Tie The Stomach Instead Of Cutting It Out Permanently?
mesaucedo replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was watching my video I thought the same thing lol My fat is right there! Just take a bit out with you!! -
Milk Products - Can I Have Them Or Not?
mesaucedo replied to Origical's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I wouldn't know about the taste because I never really drank milk plain, it was always mixed in with something. I can't tell a difference, but I am sure if you did a plain glass of milk vs lactose free you could. -
Birthcontrol- Implanon (Arm Implant)
mesaucedo replied to futureskinnypants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The implant uses the same hormones as Depo, so if you GYNO was cautious about Depo she probably would be about the implant too. Also, I lost weight on Depo. I have been taking it for over three years and the first year lost about 30 pounds while hitting the gym. I got hurt and stopped and then began grazing again and gained it all back. The point is, Depo makes you crave glucose, sucrose and fructose -- but it is YOU that eats it or doesn't. So you can gain or lose or not change at all on it -
I have been deciding on this for a while, I generally refer to him (yes him) as my "slummy" (sleeve/tummy). I think it is time for a more formal name. I like "Hamilton" because it is classy, like my sleeve of course

So it has happened. I knew it would, but hoped it wouldn't! I have hit the stall. I dropped 18 pounds the first two weeks and now have stopped. I knew I shouldn't have weighed myself this week. This blows. So now I wait? I up my calories? I lower them? Leave them alone? Advice?
-
I get about 500 - 600 calories in each day. I am getting in an average of 45ish grams of Protein a day. I just moved to purees, so it should be a little easier now to get it all in. I will try to relax and just let the week go by without freaking out.

Milk Products - Can I Have Them Or Not?
mesaucedo replied to Origical's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Have you tried lactose free milk? I have always had a rather bad intolerance issue and think it is totally worth it to pay the extra $1.50 a gallon for relief! I buy Safeway's knock off brand of lactose free milk -- Lucerne. They also have fat free options! -
I did a liquid pre-op for about week and a half and gained a pound. :/ My doc said my liver was small and perfect, so I guess it worked out after all. He said my body was fighting to keep it's fat because it thought I was starving.

I had barely any pain at all. The only discomfort came from the gas in my chest area. Other than that, it was manageable. You will will be fine!

Oh yes, the crazy roundabout of DOOM! It was entertaining to watch it and see the close calls from all the cars and buses.

My Pcp Is Not Supportive At All & Made Me Worried Now!
mesaucedo replied to NJsharon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I got the same reaction from my Clinic here on campus. What it really comes down to is ignorance and border-line racism. A Mexican doctor can't be as good as a US one? But European ones can be. Hmmm. -
Is There A Second Part To The Sleeve?
mesaucedo replied to DivaDee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve use to be a part 1 in a two part surgery. The second part was a RNY I believe. It was used to lose enough weight for the rest of the procedure to be complete. Doctors found that people were losing enough weight with the sleeve alone. This is when it became a stand alone procedure. -
Well is the wall containing the leak made of stomach material? If so, theoretically is would hold and be fine. The "wall" they are referring to would separate the acid from your organs. I have heard of such a thing with intestines, almost like a hernia, where part of the intestine gets stretched out into an offshoot but is fine. Like this ____[]___ Make sense? lol I don't know how that would work with a "leak" though.

Need Help - Not Getting In Enough Calories!
mesaucedo replied to JayhawkJess33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am around this stage too. How many calories should we be aiming for? Today I got in 638, most of that from milk mixed with my shakes. I feel like that is a lot. :/ -
Relationship With Hubby..better Or Worse After Sleeve Results?
mesaucedo replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My fiance and I hit a rocky patch before the surgery. Granted, our relationship is an odd one. We are 5 hours away and see each other every few months. In the past when he got uber fit, a coworker started going after him and actually sent him nudie pics, he was honest and told me right away (She got an earful, faceful and fired). Now that I will be the "more attractive one" he is afraid the same type of thing will happen with me. We were fighting non-stop about everything and he finally fessed up to how he has been feeling. Once that was out in the open, we were able to move on. I think I will just have to keep reassuring him and letting him know that I only love him. I told him though, that he will have to put in equal work to make me feel just as loved as when we lived together. So I think, it really depends on your relationship. I had a friend who split with her bf after she lost weight and became confident, but he had been abusive for a while before that. It can strengthen a strong relationship or break a weak one. -
Ok, Ladies...men, Feel Free, But......lol
mesaucedo replied to SusieQs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had noticed an increase in my girly side, if you will. I have been gorging myself on chick flicks and crying. Everything makes me cry. An episode of How I Met Your Mother had me in tears. Libido will be tough. My fiance is about 5 hours away from me and we rarely see each other, about every 3 months. -
The TJ/Cali border is one of the safest areas. All the border violence you read about is more by Texas, Ariz and New Mex. Furthermore, all the shootings and what not are usually at a specific location where people who are involved in certain activities are the targets. I walked around by myself and felt fine. As long as you don't wander off at night time into an alleyway, you will be safe. Military patrol everywhere as well.

Well, since we started dating, 4 years ago, my fiance has packed on about 60 pounds. We both packed on a lot of weight even though we still went hiking and biking. I guess its that whole getting comfy thing and having someone to snuggle and eat ice cream with Now he is trying to lose the 60 while I lose my 100ish
-
Oh that sucks! I wish there was some way of determining how you will react on a BC before you have to take it for three or four months and freak out the whole time.
-
Oh no! I don't want to give you any advice on that, particularly if your nut told you something else. I was only saying that I can without any physical pain. Not necessarily chug, but definitely gulp instead of sip. I don't drink more than 4 oz at a time, I just drink it faster.
-
Oh ok. Good to know.
-
Bastard! lol My fiance just goes on a no soda kick and drops weight like he is starving himself
-
I have a question. Do you not chug because you can't or because you shouldn't? I seem to have no problem gulping down water, so just wondering.

5 Days Post-Op Is This Normal?
mesaucedo replied to faddiscc4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now you really need to focus on liquids. My doc told me not to worry about protein for a while. The pain may be a gas pain. I felt like I was having a heart attack at one point from it. Remember to walk and sip, walk and sip.
