What do you appreciate most about your weight loss
KhadijahRose replied to Sofficial's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i haven't really lost "so much" just yet, but it dawned on me when I started fitting clothes that I hadn't been able to fit into since I started having children 5 almost 6 years ago. I'm only down about 80 pounds but the inches I've lost are pretty astounding! I dont know the numbers but I do know that the last time I was this weight, my size was bigger so I know my weight training is really doing me some good. Oh another thing was when I could easily get through a HIIT workout. I've always enjoyed working out but now it's waaaay more enjoyable since I don't have as much weight to carry around. -

ROTFL!!! You're funny! I don't think I've lost enough yet to give it so freely. Are you serious about moving to Alaska, I think it's a beautiful place, I've been watching Buying Alaska on the Destination America Channel and If I was single I'd go and disappear somewhere in the mountains and live off the rivers..I love fishing!

If you've had all those tests done already you can probably rule out pregnancy. Nipple pain can indicate so many things in a woman, namely hormone changes. I found that after surgery with the change in diet and increased consistent flow of vitamins and minerals EVERYTHING changed, from my used to be very normal periods (which now seem to be every 2 months!) to my preferred taste in food (I seem to prefer salty over sweet as a treat these days) and even the amount of perspiration I have while working out. Before surgery I would RAIN perspiration while working out, now I can go a good 45-60 minutes and hardly break a sweat..I'm sure you can find more info somewhere on this site in regards to your issues, but definitely consider hormone changes. As a mother of three I know that the change in hormones can cause the exact same issues with your body as the pregnancy (probably because essentially the same thing is happening ) Hoping the best for you!

Hey Marchies! Just thought I'd post something here since there hasn't been much activity and in case someone goes looking (like I did ) I was sleeved on the 28th of March, I've had no issues. I didn't have a pre-op diet just no food food 12 hours before surgery and nothing in my mouth 9 hours before surgery. My starting weight was 356 I am tall, at 6'2 so my BMI was about 44. Current weight is 286 That's 70 pounds gone as of 4 months or 16 weeks post op.

Is anyone fasting for Ramadan here?
KhadijahRose replied to Aisha902's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ramadan Kareem sis Aisha, of course Allah understands! He knows better than you know what you are going through and the most beautiful part of it is that He is so merciful and so forgiving that for you fasting is not an obligation or an option if it is too hard on your body. Al-hamdulillah that you tried. Where in the middle east are you?? -
Is anyone fasting for Ramadan here?
KhadijahRose replied to Aisha902's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am fasting Al-Hamdulillah, I am almost 4 months post op and have been fasting very easily. I am a nursing mom (of a 9 month old, almost 10 months) and nurse her through out the day with no issues. I started fasting about a month after the surgery with my hubby who fasts often. The first few times were hard simply because I hadn't done it with my new tummy before but now it's actually far easier this year than it's ever been Al-hamdulillah ma shaa Allah I think the smaller tummy helps. I also make a very hydrating green smoothie each night consisting of 2 oranges, 1 banana and either green leafy veggie (kale, broccoli, greens) or my Protein shake (Lean Body vanilla ice cream). I always break my fast with dates, a sip of Water and a cup of coffee. I also noticed that whenever I hit a "stall" if I fast for a couple of days it breaks it easily Al-hamdulillah. I am down almost 70 pounds and doing great! Ramadan Kareem!! -
1ST Month? How much did u lose?
KhadijahRose replied to hopingtolose2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 6'1, I started at 356 and lost 25 in the first month, 14 weeks out and I've lost 67 so far, so yeah, it's definitely possible. I think it all depends on your former life style, body and metabolism. Hope for you the best and all the greatest success -

I hate stalls!
KhadijahRose replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're right, stalling is the pits! For me what seems to work is fasting for a day or 2 and then suddenly I'm down 5 pounds and my sleeve tightens a bit which gets me back to being better restricted. -

Actually I've read that a stall is quite normal. It's simply your bodies way of adjusting to the changes happening to it. I am down 61 pounds and 3 months out. I've stalled 3 times so far. all which have lasted for about 2 weeks, I haven't changed anything but then again I have not needed to go "back to basics" because I've simply been doing the basics. That being said I believe "back to basics" means following precisely what your surgeon and nutritionist has asked you to. I think the most common "basics" are: approximately 64-84 oz. of water/day, 60-95 grams of protein/day, low carb, low - no sugar, taking all your required vitamins and minerals and moderate daily exercise. Those are what I've seen across the board so far in my 3 months but, again, it all depends on what your surgeon and nutritionist has come up with for you specifically. For some, they go all the way back to liquids and purees..whatever works I suppose
