  1. Thank you so much! I have my information seminar at the hospital on Saturday, 1/22. Do you suggest that I call UHC and ask to speak to a nurse coordinator before that? I am just trying to stay ahead of the game ;)

It wouldn't hurt to give them a call to get some clarifications on all of your requirements. In my experience the phone reps weren't any help at all. They didn't know any of my specific benefits or requirements, they could only speculate. But, they also didn't offer to forward me to the correct people that could help me, which was a bummer. Just keep pushing. With UHC the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Good luck!

  2. I would have your doctor write a very detailed note regarding your weight loss attempts and any recorded weights that you may have from SP or WW. I was in a similar situation. After submitting everything my nurse coordinator kept telling me she didn't receive anything, after 5 more attempts, she said she still didn't receive anything. I requested a change of a nurse and the next day I was approved. If you have any trouble with your assigned nurse just let them know and ask for a re-assignment. UHC can offer really good coverage if you can squeeze it out of them. Good luck, I hope you don't have the run around I had, but here I am 2 weeks out from being sleeved so it will all work out. Also, it varies so much depending on employers specifications so definitely check in with the bariatric coordinator and find out more details.

  3. I just saw my surgeon for my post-op visit and mentioned always feeling hungry. He said one thing that most people experience is hunger during most of the liquid phase because liquid just doesn't sit around in our stomachs like a solid would. But he assured me that once I start on mushies (end of this week) I'll feel much fuller and more satisfied, so I look forward to that!

  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm 6 days out and feel like I'm starving! I'm sticking to my 1/4 cup serving of Soup per meal, but I feel like I'm always hungry! It's good to know I'm not alone. It makes sense though as to the restriction and that we'll feel more restriction on mushies and soft foods. Like you, I was starting to wonder if he actually removed some of my stomach or just played around for an hour and made some incisions on my stomach for fun. Can't wait for mushies!

Hi, I just had my sleeve with Dr. Fang on Tuesday. He was really great. Very quite, but he knows his stuff. I have also met Dr. Juarez a few years back. He was really nice as well, but based on a few other recommendations for Dr. Fang I decided to go with him. good luck

  6. Hi all, I am 4 days post op and have yet to have a BM. I keep seeing people comment on "liquid in, liquid out", so far it's just liquid in for me. Right now i'm sipping on a little prune juice to help stimulate thing. My post op diet is full liquids... but still nothing. I'm not in any pain and I don't have any of the usual Constipation stomach cramping, just haven't pooped yet.... any thoughts? Gross I know... sorry

  7. Just to chime in, for me the stairs were no problem. I am 4 days post-op and live in a 2 level town home. I was able to go upstairs shortly after coming home from the hopsital and have been up and down numerous times a day without any trouble. Just take it as slow as you need to, you'll do fine. Now the St. Bernard's.... you'd know better there haha.

  8. Hi all, I'm officially on the losing bench. I was sleeved yesterday afternoon and got to come home this morning. It's nice to be able to relax at home. I wasn't very prepared for waking up from the general anesthesia. I was in a lot of pain and it didn't subside too quickly. But now I'm home and able to relax and rest a little more. Good luck everyone!

  9. Hi All. I am finally getting sleeved on Tuesday (1/4). I can't wait, but i'm not sure what to expect surgically. I've had a scheduled c-section before, but never anything where I am under general anesthesia. Once I check in at the hospital, outside of signing a ton of forms and getting an IV what else can I expect? I'm looking to my post-op friends for a summary of what will happen from check in to surgery time. Thanks! I can't wait to join you all on the losers bench.

  10. Hi January sleevers, looks like I'll be joining you! I just found out this morning that my surgery has been scheduled for Jan 4th! I'm so excited.

A little about me.... I am a 27 year old stay at home Mom and Wife. My son is 16 months old and has endless energy. I've been over 300lbs since high school. I reached my highest weight of 350 the day I had my son via c-section. I've been hovering around 320 ever since he was born. I've been heavy my whole life and I'm tired of being the biggest person in the room. I'm also really tired of breaking things like chairs and toilet seats =o( so embarrassing. I'm ready for this!

It's nice to meet you all, I'm glad we are all in the same boat together.

I have to have all my pre-op testing this week, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any ideas?
