  1. I do love my band! I was asked this question yesterday by my daughter and said the samething yesterday after she heard me burping and then running to bathroom. Yes it has some side effects but I'm down 70 lbs since dec 2011 I feel better look better and I'm off bp and coloestrol Meds. I still have reflux at night but did I say I look good. Ha

  2. I've also been struggling with nighttime (waking me up) acid reflux. It started after my last fill. Since I'm happy with my current restriction' date=' I have been struggling to get it under control so I don't have to get my fill taken out. This is what I've been doing: taking Tums and Prilosec, propping myself up in bed, restricting my diet (no caffeine, no chocolate, no spicy foods, no cooked tomatoes, no onions, no milk, no cheese), changing my diet (I've added greek yogurt, bananas, almonds, ginger tea, and aloe vera juice), and I don't eat or drink anything at least three hours before bedtime. It is slowly getting better - frankly, I think that my band got really angry and irritated because I wasn't used to the new restriction so it took a while to get it under control. The most important "correction" for me was not to eat or drink anything for several hours before bed (even water). Even if I do everything else right, if I break this rule then I will have a miserable night.[/quote']

Same here after a fill I did everything like you too. Especially no eating drinking after 7 pm. I thought it might be band losing up but stopped taking the chews before bed and it started again. Good luck! I do not get in fills unless I'm unable to enough nutrients or Water. I figure if I had choose the other op I would just have to adjust my life to it. I also knw the more you poke holes in the rubber port the more likely it will become defective. Just my way!

  3. I still have this mind set and. Pay for it I am trying to train myself to eat several small meals but my mind and habits still want eat a full meal in one sitting. I am so use to over eating that even knowing I will be running to toilet I will still keep eating. I fill full but I want to finish my food. I bought smaller plates to help with this a cup bowl and small dinner plates help me have it measured but I really should be eating even less.

  4. After my last fill I have been very tight I think bands are very picky different times of day changes in weather alsorts of things change what and how much I eat. With every fill only two so far I have had to eliminate foods from my diet. I can not eat hardly any type of meat no matter how it's cooked well, I can still eat most sea foods. I tried drinking a green smoothly the other night and up it came i couldnt eat or drink anything else that night I drank it at noon next day no problem I seem to get tighter at night most people are tight in mornig? No rymhe or reason to it sometimes.

  5. Sounds like you close to green zone but not yet there. Not sure if you had fills yet but I go in and out of that green zone area a lot before and after fills I've only had two fills which is pretty good since I was banded 12/22/11 I have lost 55 lbs so far. I get very tight after fills I only have 3.5 cc s in a 10 cc band so far

  6. I needed at least 3 days there is some pain after surgery and anesthesia I could have gone back then but have physical job so dr didn't release for a week and then with some restrictions on lifting I have heard of people with desk jobs going back after one but it was very hard on them. Good luck to you!

  7. My dietitian specifically told us that we were NOT to count calories...only to make good food choices (SF' date=' low fat, high protein), and determine portion sizes by volume (3 oz Protein and 2 oz of carb) for every meal. We NEED Calcium for proper nutrition and bone health!

From my experience, there are 3 factors which have slowed my weight loss: not having enough free fluids, not having enough calories (you should know what your calorie weight maintenance number is, so you are able to stay well under it), and not having enough Protein. I also hit a plateau every 10-12 pounds, where I will not loose any weight for a week, though I remain compliant with my diet. Very frustrating, but I know the routine now!

As always, making sensible food choices is essential for success. When you have too few calories, your metabolism goes into a sort of hibernation mode, and slows down. Weight loss is about making your metabolism work with you to burn the calories. [/quote']

I too plateau every 10-12 lbs just have to keep going with it and then it starts going down again. I eat around 1200 and have a cheat day of upto 1500 cals helps keep me sane.
