  1. My doctor told me no protein drinks until 4 days post op.
  2. Well this is my journey from Monday the 12th. Went in for hiatial hernia repair and RNY because my acid was totally out of contol. When the anesthesiologist inserted his tube, it was discovered that I had a very thin area of scar tissue that was completely iniulated from my severe acid. So my wonderful surgeon had to repair that first before he could do the bypass. Because of this it wasn't necessart for him to do the hiatial hernia repair. So the bypass part went as planned. Because of this repair, I could not start liquids on Tuesday. I had to have an upper gi xray to make sure there was no leak. There wasn't, but he still wanted to be extra cautious because of the delicate repair. So I was only allowed ice swabs all day Tuesday and was on IV. Yesterday, Wednesday, I was finally allowed ice chips, but still on IV. Today, Thursday, I am still on IV, but was allowed broth. I am not having any problems with the broth, so I may be able to go home tomorrow. I live 50 miles away, so like I said he is being cautious. Originally, I was to start liquids Tuesday through next Monday, adding protein drinks tomorrow. Of course that's when I was supposed to go home today. So now I will be on the clear liquids longer and probably not add protein til mid week. Otherwise, I feel great. I have never had any pain or needed to take pain meds. I am up walking four times a day with no problem. I do have a drain this time too, and that will be until my post op next Thursday. I have never been nauseated. I am just glad I have an excellent surgeon who saved my life agin. If this would have gone unnoticed, it most likely would hav ruptured and I would be in deep doo doo with infection throughout my entire body. I will update tomorrow! Wish I would have gone this route rather than VSG 5 1/2 years ago!
  3. Wow you look awesome! What a difference! I bet you feel great!
  4. You look great! COngratulations!
  5. Having gastric bypass this Monday the 12th. I had a vertical sleeve 5 1/2 years ago. Mainly becuase 2/3 of my stomach was up through my diaphragm , between my lungs geaded for my heart. He had to do a sleeve in order to get my stomach back in its place without destoying my diaphragm. The doctor could not put the mesh on to prevent another hiatial hernia because of all the stitches in my diaphragm, so I now have a small one again, and my acid is completely out of control, and also have a small trace of Barretts Esophagus. My only option to stop this horrid constant acid is gastric bypass. I have everything ready for my post op. Had a successful recovery from my sleeve. Not scared and very optiimistic. I have the best surgeon I could possiby have, and that I know cuz he saved my life when he did my sleeve. I lost 75 pounds with the sleeve. I realize that the restriction is ,much worse with the RNY than the sleeve, but I hope I get through it as well as I did last time. Not looking forward to the gas pains in my shouder though!

  13. My doctor told me that I could go on a six hour road trip after two weeks, and even then I will need to get out of the car about every two hours and walk around rest area for at least five minutes. But not before two weeks because of blood clotting.

    GB Post Op recipes

I can't ever get a post to post right on the mobile app! Anyway, has anyone ever tried the Unjury Chicken Powdered Protein soup or the Bariatric Advantage Vegetable Powdered Protein Soup? Just curious as how they taste.
  19. I never had any dumping but I followed my what he told me to do and eat. You will lose the weight because your stomach is so small, there is no way you can overeat. Your post op is liquids and purees for a time on either. As long as you follow his directions and eat and drink what he says, you should have no problem with the weight coming off. In my opinion, I would just go with the RNY. The recovery and diets are the same from what I hear. Let me know what he says in your consultation. When is that?
  20. Just curious, why have you changed your mind? I had the sleeve about 5 1/2 years ago and lost 75 lbs. very easily. However now I am going to have RNY on June 12 because my reflux is out of control. Do you have a lot of weight to lose? Do you have reflux? Not sure if your concerned about that or that you won't lose enough weight?

    Hairloss

My hair loss didn't start right away, but when it did there was lots in my brush and after shower. No chunks like some say! It lasted just a couple months and then stopped. Doctor sid from anesthesia.

Feeling something stuck in my throat

This could be caused by earing too large of a pice of something, or swallowing too fast and then you are getting the "slimes". Try cutting your food in much smaller peices and chewing more and swallowing slower.

    4 days post op

That back pain is mostly caused by the gas during surgery. The more you walk, the sooner it will subside, at least in my case it did!

    Post-op Pain

I slept on a recliner in the living room for a couple of weeks cuz I am not one who can sleep on their back in bed, but in a recliner it is easier not to want to try and sleep on your side or tummy.
