    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

@gwbicster here is the pizza I found on Instagram last night. Half has 25g protein and only 4g carbs. Crust is parmesan cheese and chicken! I found it at Ralphs all Kroger stores should have them according to their site. This tastes soooo good!

    Best protein shakes and why

I have never really had a lot caffeine in my diet anyway. I always drink decaf beverages so I really don't miss it.

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

This sounds goid. I also discovered on Instagram last night the Real Good Pizza. The crust is parmesan and chicken and completely grain free. Low in carbs 4g for half of the small pizza and also half has 25g of protein! I just picked up a couple at Ralphs. All of the Kroger based stores are supposed to sell them. Is the youtube called Skillet Pizza or what?

    Best protein shakes and why

No I don't have scientific claims. Just what my NUT and doctor say and what it says on internet. If you want to have it, have it! My diet and doctor say not to so I am not!

It can cause dehydration. I am not saying it definitely does. Read my post on the next page. This is what came up when I googled it. I have seen a couple different post op diets for WLS and both say best to avoid caffeine for the first year.

Not correct about caffeine. Caffeine can casue dehydration. I never said coffee did. Caffeine causes increased urine output, which can increase the risk for dehydration, particularly during rapid weight loss. It also interferes with absorbing nutrients after bariatric surgery. It also may cause nausea, GI distress, Dyspepsia, and an increase in gastric acud secretion.

The only reason to stay away from caffeine for the first year is that it causes a lot of dehydration. Otherwise there is really no problem. I have always since my sleeve, stayed away from caffeine so I am used to it! But the Click is sooo good!

    Sleeve vs RNY

My surgeon also said that the RNY is reversible, which he has never had a need to do. Obviously the sleeve is not reversible!

    Best protein shakes and why

I use Premier Protien RTD from Wal Mart or Costco. 30g each. Light and easy to drink and get down. Muscle Milk too sweet for me. I usually buy the vanilla Premier and add sugar free syrups to them. I love the caramel but they dont have it at Costco and they are much cheaper there. I can't stand any powdered and have tried them all. Too thick and dense abd just the consistency is yucky. Although I love the Click coffee protein powder but it is not decaf and need to be sure no caffeine for a year.

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

that is a great idea. Take a piece of pepperoni and a litttle pizza sauce, and some mozarella and stick it under the broiler. Also have you ever heard of emilybites.com? She makes all kinds of wonton cups for pizza, cheeseburgers, lasagna, tacos, etc. they are all so good. With a couple pounds of ground beef you can make a variety and they freeze well. I am ready to make my batch as soon as I can have the won ton wrappers.

    Sleeve vs RNY

I wish scare tactics would not be used here when discussiing RNY. It is a perfectly safe option. As I said I have had both now, mainly because my acid was so out of control, i needed to prevent more damage to my esophagus to prevent esophagal cancer possibly down the road. When he started my bypass, he discovered a damaged spot on my esophagus that most likely would have ruptured in the near future and I would have been in deep doo doo. Luckily I have the best surgeon in California and he knew what to do to repair it before he continued with the bypass. The recovery of this RNY is not one iota different than it was for my sleeve 5 1/2 years ago. The diets are the same, the incisions on your abdomen are the same. Of course the restriction is greater because the pouch is very small. I am not blaming anything on my sleeve. i had great success with it, however, had I realized it would not cure the bad acid reflux I already had, I would have chosen RNY at that time. Although I had about 75 pounds to lose, I did not have the surgery for weight loss. 2/3 of my stomach was over my diaphragm between my lungs headed for my heart. This was a result of a fundiplication surgery I had in 1999 to repair my stomach valve damaged by acid. Many on the gastric bypass board here have chosen to have a revision from sleeve to RNY because of their severe acid. NO ONE is saying that the sleeve caused the acid. If you have severe acid reflux before the sleeve, the RNY is definitely a better option for you so that can be taken care of as well. This will prevent further acid damage to the esophagus down the road, this lreventing Barrett's Esophagus or cancer. Some people just want opinions as to why others made their decisions. That does not mean one is the right way or the other is the right way. The doctor will make that decision based on the individual patient. Part of your intestine is NOT discarded with RNY. It is simply cut and attached to your new pouch. There is no difference than having 2/3 of your stomach cut off! Please do not use scare tactics or such negativity here. WLS is a big enough decision in the first place. Some people will have complications with any surgery. Any surgery is a risk. As I said, I myself have had no complications, no pain, or any nausea with my RNY. I have a great attitude when it comes to surgery. Never scared. That is part of the reason I recover so well with no issues. It will not do any good to scare people off here. They need to go into either of these surgeries with a positive attitude and be optimistic. We are here to help, not scare them to death. Enough of the negativity and statistics.

Don't forget that you may be gaining body mass. That will affect your actual scale numbers, but at the same time, your body fat % should also be going down, so that is fine and good for your metabolism.

@JohnnyCakes I see you just had RNY on the 27th. How are you doing? I had sleeve revision to RNY on the 12th.

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

I don't know anything about kinds of flours all I know is I can't have any until August 12! And it was the sane post op diet when I was sleeved. Checkbiut Siete tortillas. I have some in the freezer for after the 12th. They are also supposed to be good as pizza crusts as well as tacos. I also have Venice Bakery pizza crusts in the freezer. They are gluten free but they are really good! They sell both at Whole Foods!

I realize that, but it still can swell.

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

I agree that I think it is odd you are allowed bread or pizza crust at this early stage. My surgery was 6/12 the day after yours, and I am not allowed bread until August 12, regardless of RNY or VSG. Bread is very soft and can swell into your staple line and it takes awhile for that to heal. Be careful.

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

I realize that. i have been sleeved also. I meant she said it would be too dense and heavy for either sleeve or pouch.
  21. Whatever you and your doctor decide is the best for you, but I can guarantee you that you will be healthier after any WLS. I have had both the sleeve and now post op from RNY. I had neither for weightloss, I had GI issues that needed fixed. IMO the recovery for both is exactly the same, at least for me it has been. Of course the RNY has more restrictions cuz the pouch is smaller than your sleeve would be. I have heard from so many diabetics they are no longer diabetic and off their insulin. Good luck to you in whatever you and your doctor decide. You are on the way to a healthier you!

    NO Carbonated beverages- FOREVER!

I had a sleeve 5 1/2 years ago and just had revision to RNY. I stayed away from carbonation for about the first four years. Then I really wanted some diet Squirt. I did buy some and drank one every once in awhile with no problems. I think if you wait awhile like I did and use in moderation it would be OK. Now I am post op from RNY and will have to start my waiting game again!

    Fathead Pizza/Crackers anyone?

I have never tried this, but was told by my NUT said it was extremely dense and too heavy for your pouch. Maybe oneof those fLatout breads would be better for your pouch?
  24. Congratulations! You look awesome!

    Sleeve vs RNY

I have had both and neither were really for weight loss, just to repair some things. i had the sleeve 5 1/2 years ago to move 2/3 of my stomach back down through my diaphragm without destroying my diaphragm. I have always had tons of acid reflux and that did not go away in fact it got severely worse in the past six months. My only option to finally get rid of this reflux once and for all was RNY. So I just had that on June 12. I am 4 1/2 weeks out now. Never had any pain or any nausea and am on soft foods for 12 more days before I go on regular food. To me, the recovery for both is the same; at least it has been for me. The RNY has more restriction of course, but both surgeries require post op "learning how to eat again" food plans! I wish he would have done the RNY 5 1/2 years ago simply because of my acid reflux problem.
