Here is a list out of my Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies Cookbook of what you can eat on Full Liquids: Get 1/2 of your Fluid intake from the clear liquids you started with. Low fat strained or puredd soups. Cooked cereals (Cream of Wheat or oatmeal or malt O meal) thinned to a soupy consistency. All juices diluted 50/50 with Water. Skim milk, low fat soy milk, or lactose free milk. sugar free custards or puddings Proteins shakes at least 10g Protein per 100 cal, fewer than 3g of fat per 100 cal, fewer than 12g carbs Light yogurt with no added sugar and no fruit on bottom. pureed Foods or Mushies: Blended low fat cottage cheese great for protein Blended scrambled eggs blended cooked vegetables mashed or blended bananas (1/2 high sugar content) mashed potatoes silken tofu SF applesauce blended meats (chicken) low fat ricotta cheese Soft foods (after mushies): eggs low fat soft cheese Beans soft cooked vegetables canned fruit (not fresh solid) packed in own juice whole grain crackers (wasa, rye crisp) It says to still avoid the following at the soft foods stage: tough grisly meats raw veggies celery fresh fruit any bread rice and Pasta coconut Peanut Butter dried fruit nuts popcorn high suga or high fat foods. Hope this helps! Good luck! -

I'm sure you haven't hurt yourself, but I would say no more rice for sure because of the swelling. You are probably still on the full liquids stage. Full liquids are liquids you can't see through. Don't forget that sf Jello and sf posicles are considered liquids. When you are in the mushees stage, you can puree alot of things like chicken, lentils (great for protein), and have yogurt or cottage cheese. Just remember to drink alot of Protein drinks. These are included in you 64 oz. of liquids a day. You will have a fuller feeling if you have at least one in the mid morning and one mid afternoon. (I used ready to drink cuz I could not bear the taste of the powdered). I am over 6 months and I still drink at least one a day. Alot of people on here use unjury chicken flavored Protein powder, but I myslef did not care for it. You need to sip on Water constantly throughout the day. I can't stand the taste of plain water since my surgery or crystal lite so I flavor mine with Mio flavoring. Vegetables aren't allowed until soft foods unless you puree them now like a Soup. Creamed Soups are fine. I was not allowed any fruits until soft stage and then basically only applesauce and no whole fruits. I drank tons of Wylers REDUCED SODIUM chicken broth (cubes) while I was on this stage. The prepared chicken broth in the cans is too greasy and too much sodium. Is there not someone you can call at your doctor's office while she is on vacation to give you a list of what you can have? I would think maybe they should be able to provide a list for you since you cannot see her right now. I think if you step up on the Protein Drinks and liquids you will find your appetite will sibside a little. -

It is important to remember that the stages clear liquids, full liquids, pureed/mushies, soft foods, etc. are done in order to allow the tummy to heal. You may not realize it if you eat something and don't feel any bad effects from it, but your staple line needs to heal, and that takes twelve weeks. Your tummy is very small now and you can't overwork it. Some of the foods not on the soft list are just too hard for you to digest right now. The time will go fast and all of a sudden you will be on regular foods. Try to think of some other things like cleaning out your closet and getting rid of those big clothes! -

Please watch your sushi. Rice is in the same category as bread and Pasta and usually not allowed until 12 weeks out. They all swell and expand in your tummy and it takes about 12 week for your staple line to heal. -

Soft foods are basically anything you can smash with a fork according to my doctor and NUT. -

Please try to be careful with your food choices right now. celery is not in the soft stage. And when you do get to that stage, you will need to remove the strings because they can get lodged in our staple line. It really doesn't matter how much you chew, if the food is not in the soft stage, you should wait to have it. Did he gve you a list of foods appropriate for each stage? It doesn't sound like you are getting enough protein or liquids. You should be eating every two to three hours right now and in between constnatly sipping on water constantly. In the morning and afternoon, drink a ready to drink protein drink if you don't like the powdered ones. I know I couldn't stand the powdered. the more protein you have, the fuller you will feel. Also take one acid reducer daily and it will help with the head hunger. I think if you get a list of soft foods, and stick to it, you will fell fuller. it takes 12 weeks for your tummy to heal, so you need to be careful with it. Try that and good luck! -

Driving For 9 Hours

All I know is you need to walk alot to avoid any blood clots and to relieve the gas from the shoulders. Maybe at two weeks you will feel like it, but I know my doctor says no road trips for at least 6 weeks. It is important not to miss your follow up appts. i guess your doctor will have to decide what's best for you. Good luck! -
Congrats!

Depoending on what stage your doctor has you on, you may be surorised at what you can have. Are you on mushies yet? -
they are at any grocery store in the refrigerated section close to the tofu and asian refrigerated stuff. The popular brand is Dynasty. There are quite a few in a package.
-
They actually replace bread when prepared like this. According to my label, one won ton wrapper has 17 calories and only 3 carbs. Way lower than bread. Since you can't eat that much, they don't overfill you up like bread would.

I have seen posts on here about skim milk that has extra or added protein already in it. I live in Southern California and cannot find anything like this at any store (and I have lots of stores to choose from)! Will someone please tell me where they get this and what brand it is. I would appreciate it! Thanks.
-
Ok thanks. i have never looked at the carb content on the other milk!
-
That is awesome. God is definitely looking out for you. Hope you are recovering nicely. Keep us posted. You are in my prayers.
-
Thanks! I finally found this today and got some. I will have some tomorrow morning. Says it's creamier than regular skim milk. What do you think? It seems to have alot of carbs though doesn't it? .

I used Kraft American slices for 65 seconds and then let them sit o the parchment paper for a minute to get harder.

I was 6 months on 6/14 but my appt.was today. Got my bloodwork done last week. My clhoesterol and trigycerites are wayyy down, Everything else is great. My BMI down from 32 to 21. My body fat % down from 52% to 35%. I only had 55 lbs. to lose but it was all in my abdomen in a dangeroius place. i am only 5 lbs. from my doctor's goal for me. He said it is very hard to maintain a steady weight loss when you are this close to goal. He said if I can eat more, I will reach my goal faster. He also said to increase my treadmill interval training he gave me to at least 5 days a week. I made an appt. with the NUT for the 24th to go over my maintenance guidleines! I feel sooo good. Thank you God!

You will be able to eat anything you want (that is if it agrees with you and your sleeve). I am 6 months out but when I go to monthly meetings and events, I never am at a loss for something to eat and have been that way for months. It's the same when you go out and eat. I never have trouble finding anything on the menu I can eat. Please don't worry about it right now. You will not be deporived. Your food intake amount is decreased, but as far as depriving yourself, you won't. I had my 6 month visit today, and my Dr. told me he didn't think I was eating enough! You will not be someone sitting there eating nothing, so don't worry about it. this is the best thing you could have done for yourself and your health.
