  1. I just had my first fill last Saturday and I am a complete and total wuss about pain and needles. It was soooo ok! Really, just the needle going in - which is such a slight inconvenience then he pushes in and it feel weird but no pain. He fills and you feel nothing - it takes like 3 minutes. I went on a completely empty stomach - i wanted to leave 8 hours before I eat, but I slept late so I hadn't had any food in me for 24 hours by the time i did it. Immediately you feel full - you'll feel like you did right after the operation, as if food is stuck at your throat. I stuck to liquids for whatever was left of the day and the next day. Then stuck with mashed potatoes and Soup Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday I ate toast and it was fine - i ate two and that was definitely the limit - i was too scared to try any more. I just had some Pasta with white sauce and it went down easily. I am eating more than I thought I would, but less than I did pre-band so restriction will take time i guess.... Tonight I am trying sushi, let's see how that goes. I usually eat 25 pieces, after getting banded without fills I was down to 16. So I will see how many I can eat now. I want to be in the 6-8 range. In the mornings it's hard to have an appetite - then it grows as the day progresses. My appetite is still very much there After the surgery I lost like 12 pounds, and I gained 4 pounds in the 3 weeks before getting my fill - i ate like i was saying bye to everything - my last burger, my last pizza my last everything! I realize now I did that too soon, I can still probably eat all these things. I am still not making good choices, Pasta, bread, all my usual crap, but I do have less cravings. But I realize I need to make an effort and not rely on the band completely. My band fits around 11 ccs, my first fill was 4 ccs which I understood is quite a lot for a first fill. I expected to eat less. So i will go get another fill as soon as the doc okays it. After ur fill stick to liquids for 2 days, mashed stuff for 1-2 more then switch to solids.
  2. Thank you! I will definitely get in touch if I need further guidance!!
  3. See I'm like you, I don't want to take out carbs completely! I'm ok with a slower weight loss, if it means I get to enjoy my food - however little that may be. So for toast, the crispier the better? You look fantastic by the way! Great job!!
  4. This is very comforting to know To me this sounds like a yummy breakfast I can maintain for a long time - and would be balanced out by spending the rest of the day on vegetable soup and tuna!
  5. Thank you Kristi! This is really useful! My friends tell me they can no longer tolerate chicken and beef, what high Protein food do you pack other than tuna and chicken that sits well with the band? On a bad day, could you load up your 1/2 cup with just carbs? Or will the stomach not even tolerate it?
  6. so when people feel the restriction with no stuck issues, why would they go for another fill? Is it to lose weight quicker? or do they reach a plateau after a while, and then they need to cut down again? How will i know when i need another fill? @sanction - my meal plan for week 3 and 4 post surgery includes both potatoes and brown bread - was that not the same for you? Should i just be on fruit juices and veggie Soup all the time? I did that the first two weeks now i alternate one day vegetable soup one day mashed potatoes with minced meat for lunch - then i stick to non fat yogurt and fruits the rest of the meals. I guess when I get a filling things will be different, i'll have to measure food in a cup, right?
  7. I know there are more nutritious food and I appreciate them too, but I've tried cutting the 'bad' carbs out completely and it has never worked. I like them too much. My more successful diets have always been diets where I controlled my quantities of 'bad' things, not when I cut them out completely... But you're saying that 3-4 ounces of food is too much when you have a fill? What is the appropriate amount?
  8. Do you know how many CCs you have in it? so I can gauge my limits? <a href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wOBiqIT/"> <img border="0" src="http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wOBiqIT/weight.png"></a>
  9. Hi, I'm Julie, 28. I got banded almost 4 weeks ago, and I am going to have my first fill as soon as I get the courage! I've always been chubby, but when I started work 6 years ago things got out of hand and I tipped the scales at 208 pounds. After losing and gaining the same 15 pounds 3 times over 4 years I decided to get the lap band. My first milestone is 187 pounds, when I will fit into all my clothes. I am really close! 6 pounds to go! My next big milestone is 154 pounds, which is what I think is my sexy weight! I have pics of me my senior year in college and at 154 I looked good! After I reach that, I will see - ideally i'd like to be between 140 and 120 pounds - but I will give myself time to get there without too much urgency or pressure. But for now the heat is on! I feel somewhat restricted now with the band just fitted and not tightened. I am using that to eat better - get a bit of what I like - rice, sushi, Pasta, bread - and a lot of the healthy stuff. My mother's been hugely supportive even though she did not support this surgery. She has been cooking and freezing Soups and mashed potatoes and veggies for me and is being a massive help. She also notices every pound - which is great when you're losing, not so great when it's the other way around My main concern is that I'd like to be able to eat like a thin person - small quantities of everything. I am scared of the horror stories of what gets stuck in the band. I am hoping I will be able to reach a level where restriction is reasonable and where I can enjoy everything - even white bread, rice and pasta - but in moderation. I want to be in the driver's seat with the band giving me a nudge, I really don't want to let the band decide everything for me.
  10. Hi, I got the lapband surgery done about a month ago and I'm getting ready for my first fill. But recently I heard a lot of horror stories about fills and how restricted I would feel. I want to eat reasonably - and still enjoy my carbs but in moderation, and now i'm worried I won't be able to do that. I want to be able to eat one piece of toast in the morning or evening instead of the 4 or 6 I used to eat, or eat 8 pieces of sushi as opposed to the 25 i usually eat, or 2-3 tablespoons of rice or Pasta instead of a massive bowl. Am I really not going to be able to do that? My friends tell me they've ended up avoiding rice & bread altogether! Is there a specific fill level where I can feel restriction but not deprivation? How will I know? Can I just tighten it to that level and then not just go further? Because If i live the rest of my life having 1 sandwich a day and 3 tbs of rice/pasta every other day i'm sure i'll be thin and healthy enough without being sad and miserable....
