  1. I do still have my gall bladder. I didn't even think of that.
  2. As of today, I am 5 weeks out and officially in a stall. I've had a very easy time of it so far, except for the past 2 days. I feel like I have restriction now and even drinking Water hurts a little. No vomiting, a little bit of nausea, no severe pains, but my tummy does have a dull ache. I also feel bloated. I know I should be starting my period, but it hasn't happened yet. I felt constipated earlier this week, so I took some colase and have had two small bowel movements since then. I've been passing gas just fine, but right before I do pass gas, it builds up and hurts for a bit. I don't know if this is normal and I'm just psyching myself out or something else. LOL!

    Fever

I don't know if it sounds right or not, but I would tell them to do a leak test.

    Bcbs Tx Insurance

I couldn't check online with my policy. Only claims.

    Bcbs Tx Insurance

Mine was submitted Jan 5th and I got approval Jan 20th. After the 1st week went by I called everyday. You get a different person everytime you call, so I didn't feel like i was bugging anyone. LOL! They were really easy to work with. One person even told me that as long as they have everything they rarely deny someone. She said 90% of denials are because something wasn't completed.

    Ugh, Unjury Tastes Like Butt!

I think the unflavored Unjury is better in food than in liquids. Just my opinion though.

    Does Everyone Get A Drain?

I had a drain while I was in the hospital overnight, the nurse removed it about 15 min before I went home. However, the fellow patient that was sleeved the same day I was did not have a drain at all. I asked the nurse why I had one and she said, "You just needed it, but the drainage all looks really good." What that meant I still don't know. LOL!
  9. Today is my 1 month surgiversary! This morning I had to take my husband's car, instead of mine. (Long story and not pertinent, lol). We are about the same height, but I always had to move the seat further away from the steering wheel because of my belly. Well, today, I got behind the wheel and there's 1 1/2 inches between my stomach and steering wheel. I didn't have to reach down to move the seat back!!!! That is progress I can see even if I don't feel it too much in my clothes yet.

    Incision Pain

I had that same feeling for a few weeks after. Closer to 3 weeks. I emailed my surgeon and he wasn't concerned at all. I just hit a month today and I rarely feel any pain now.

    Hours To Eat A Slider

Holy moly! The original response to the question was in no way rude or snarky. I reread it a few times to see if I could find another connotation and I couldn't. You would be doing yourself a disservice to delete your account as everyone is very helpful with ANY question. Even some that are TMI and rarely are answers given that are judgemental.
  12. I have a desk job, so I took just a week off. I wish I would've taken 2, only because of the fatigue. The pain had lessened considerably during the first week, but I was so dang tired by the end of the day that I was going to bed at the same time as my 5 year old.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

4 weeks out from surgery as of yesterday. Started at 286, weighed in this morning at 261. Monday will be a full month.
  15. Funny you should ask these questions, because I had the same questions, so after using my google fu skillz, this is what I found. Generally speaking, your stomach heals along the staple line in about 6-8 weeks, but for the stomach to heal enough to completely engulf the staples it can take anywhere from 3-9 months. This is one of the reasons Protein is so important. Protein aids the healing. Diabetes slows the healing process down as well. There is no way to know how far along you are unless you have an upper GI.

    Highmark Bcbs Denial

Sometimes its not even the insurance company per se, but the contract with the employer. Your employer is the one that puts in the inclusions and exclusions and the insurance company provides service around those parameters. Do you have any comorbidities, like diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure? You might have better luck with an appeal if you do.

    Morning Wood

What a great post! This made me laugh while sitting at my desk drinking my protein shake. I actually snorked it and started choking. LOL!

Psych Eval.. Maybe Too Easy. Your Thoughts?

I was supposed to complete a psych eval, but I didn't even meet with the Psychiatrist. It was all done through my surgeon's office. I paid the $50 and the surgeon's office gave me a 20 page questionaire from the psych's office and then the psychiatrist wrote a report based on my responses. Not at all what I was expecting.

    Almost A Month Out

I just realized that it will be my 1 month surgiversary on Monday. In the day to day, it feels like a struggle, but overall I can't believe it's already been a month. I'm dealing with head hunger alot this week. I feel like everyone is conspiring against me to show me what I CAN'T have. Pizza, chinese food, etc. It's not like I expect everyone to eat the same as I am, but do you have to do it in front of me. I know in another month, I probably can have one or two bites of each of these, but for now....

I Wish Someone Had Told Me....

My surgeon told me he cut my stomach muscle during the surgery and had to stitch it back together and that's where most of my pain was coming from. So, in MY experience, the comparison is applicable, although the C-section still hurt worse. Some people who have had C-sections just want a pain comparison, because they know/remember how that felt. It's just a little reassurance and I don't see anything wrong with that.
  23. I'm trying to get in 80 oz of Water pre op so I can get used to it post op. Does broth and other fluids count towards the 80 oz? Or is the 80 oz on top of the broth?
  24. I've been very open about it with my family and coworkers and everyone at work has been super supportive. It's not like they don't notice that I'm overweight. The only thing I don't share is my weight or exactly how much I've lost. I just don't want anyone to think "How much did she weigh if she's lost ___ lbs?" My goal is to lose about 175, but realistically I think it will be closer to 150.
