  1. I read on here where someone's NUT said they needed a few more carbs and was told to eat some crackers. I tried that and it works like a charm! No more dizzy spells! I now have ritz crackers with my meat and cheese snacks. Or peanut butter on crackers.
  2. I just got back from TJ a few days ago. I went with my friend who was going to have surgery with Dr Ponce. I also went in December with my sisters for surgery. both times we had good experiences. I was not afraid at all. I walked around a couple times by myself this time, during the day of course. I didn't go out after dark, but its only because I didn't really need to. there is a door man at the INT hospital, and he locks the door and sleeps there by it at night. We also had good experiences at the border both times. and one of my sisters didn't even have her passport! I did not stay at a hotel, we stayed at a recovery house which was located out of town in a gated community. very nice! hope this helps.
  3. Wow, that is great information! thank you so much!!
  4. Not sure what to do with myself. I am hungry, need coffee, would love a shower but I'm afraid to intrude on my friend. (She's nauseated and throwing up sometimes.) I'm afraid to leave cause I'm not sure where I would even go or what's around! There is a cafeteria on the 4th floor but the menu is all in Spanish, of course! Anyone else come with a friend and feel this way?
  5. Thank you! can you buy a patch over the counter? never knew there was such a thing!
  6. Wondering if anyone else was told to NOT take Ibuprofen? Tylenol doesn't do much for me, never has. I am having back problems (not associated with WLS) and ibuprofen is recommended to take the swelling down. Not sure what to do. Is it ok to take 400mg?? or should I stay away from it? has anyone else tried taking it? thanks!

  8. I went thru almost the same thing. I found that eating every 2 hours, even if its just a couple bites of cottage cheese, worked best for me. I wasn't eating enough by just doing protein shakes. I needed the food, but 6-8 times a day! Also, vitamins do the same thing to me, but I switched to gummies and I dont get a sick feeling at all! I also had/have acid reflux really bad. I get it from peanut butter and pretty much any kind of meat! I keep tums close at hand, and I take my RX every day. It will eventually help. I dont get it as much anymore, I think it takes a while for the RX to kick in. but I still take tums after almost every meal. hope something I wrote will help for you!
  9. I am 2 months out and have tried wine. It didn't hurt my stomach and I sipped it real slow. But to be honest, I dont think I will enjoy drinking anymore. It doesn't give me the same feeling it used to. Just makes me REALLY tired. I'm afraid to try anything else. Vodka used to tear my stomach up, so I'm not sure I should attempt it, and I dont think we are supposed to drink beer. And of course, no drinks mixed with pop. so that leaves me with NO options! LOL! I'm ok with that since I dont get that "buzzed" feeling from drinking. I guess thats a good side effect, since we dont really NEED to drink!
  10. Wondering if I should be taking Fiber chewables? I know we need to work hard at getting our protein in. Does taking fiber have any benefits? I guess I dont really understand the difference between protein and fiber. anyone know the answer? they obviously do different things, but should I be filling up with fiber??
  11. I get them terrible when I've eaten too much. Not just hiccups but burps really bad! My family thinks its funny! I kind of hurts though! I try to learn from it and not eat so much, but I've always gulped my food down really fast. I am having trouble eating slow even now!

  13. I stalled at 2 weeks also. I did better when I cut back on the shakes and added "food". I made myself eat something 6 times a day. I felt like I was eating constantly. Which is good if you were a snacker! I'm not sure what you are allowed to eat, but food rather than shakes worked better for me. not sure if thats good advice, but it worked for me.
  14. My sleeve is doing exactly what its supposed to do most of the time. I dont crave things, and eat very little. But when its that time of the month my sleeve gets overpowered by something! I had to have a cadbury egg and a peanut butter cup! but once I gave in the urge was gone and no stomach ache, thank god! (I ate them hours apart)
  15. I was JUST coming on here to ask the very same question! I can physically eat more when I know it will be that time for me. Not crazy amounts more, but I definitely dont get full as fast. It scares me that the restriction wont come back, but it always has!
  16. Me too, I am just 4 weeks and 2 days post op and I can eat more than pureed food. I chew alot, and I have not tried fresh vegetables, beef, or bread. I did have some chili with beef in it, but it didn't go down well. I felt it all day. But before my surgery I had terrible heartburn from eating beef, so I'm sure that hasn't changed. I wont be doing that anytime soon again. I'll be making chicken chili or maybe try turkey. I do much better with weight loss on food. I had a 2 week stall, but started eating a little bit of mushy food and started losing again. Now I'm not crazy about drinking protein anymore! I'm considering having a lettuce salad. anyone have trouble with lettuce?? seems like it wouldn't be as harsh as say broccoli or carrots. also wondering about taco shells, everything i've read says to avoid corn chips and taco shells, but does that mean flour shells too? can we ever have a taco?? also, wondering about having a sandwich ever again! can we ever eat anykind of bread??
  17. I am on my 3rd week and just started drinking 1 cup of decaf in the morning, this is the 2nd day. I am getting dark circles around my eyes, lightheaded and almost pass out. I am assuming I am dehydrated. Could the coffee be doing this?anyone else have the same problem? (null)
  18. I used Laurie Wolf, her site is lapbandtrip.net. She is a hostess and goes there with you!
  19. I am doing good. I struggled with the diet that they gave us, and chose to use one from another doctor. I am still only eating protein shakes, SF pudding, light yogurt, chicken broth, popsicles, and strained cream of chicken soup. I think I am going to try mashed potatoes tomorrow. How are you doing? how is your diet going? did you use the one he gave us? how was your trip home? we were lucky to have an extra day at the recovery house which helped. I am not as tired as I read that some people were. that part scared me. I actually felt energetic and good. Not tired and lethargic like I thought I would. how about you??
  20. I know its crazy, but my family and I all take gummy vitamins. I dont suppose its a good idea to take them when I'm still on liquids? I had surgery 12 days ago. Really miss my vitamins!!
  21. I agree, I had surgery with Dr Ponce at the INT hospital on Dec 14. I also had a great experience. You may private message me also. I feel great and am down 30 pounds, but that includes the 5 day pre-op diet. My 2 sisters also went and had surgery. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the diet afterwards. I am using a diet from another doctor.
  22. My shoulder pain was from my gall bladder. I had it taken out and the pain is gone. If it keeps up, ask for an ultrasound of your gall bladder. (null)
  23. Hi all, wondering how you all did after surgery? I am scheduled with Dr. Ponce at INT hospital on Dec. 15! (null)
  24. I was under the impression that INT was a hospital? I am scheduled for dec 15 with dr. Ponce de leon. (null)
