  1. That might be partly why I have a headache too! It is day 2 of my pre-op diet & having very very limited carbs! Thanks so much, off to pop a tylenol now!
  2. My surgery is just under 2 weeks away. But I have a splitting headache right now! I was told no aspirin, but is tylenol okay?! My head is killing me & I need something!
  3. I know Dr Kelly used to use a drain, as I watched a youtube video (from Oct or Nov 2011) where someone was showing their incision from the drain & they had Dr Kelly. But he no longer uses the drain. Not sure why, but must have learnt it is not necessary for some reason. I am scheduled for May 10th & been very happy with the communication from Dr Kelly's team so far! I will also post a full report once I get back from Mexico.
  4. Yeah, I am pretty lucky with the 2 week pre-op diet... just have to eat healthy. 3 days pre-op is liquids. I guess I am so used to eating junk though, that I am finding it hard to think of healthy options right now, especially for snacks!
  5. I'm hungry! LOL Just started my 2 week pre-op diet today, meant to just eat healthy. Had Protein Shake for Breakfast & lunch. Had some babybel light cheese as a snack, sugar free Jello as snack & some low-sodium chicken stock. But still hungry! So wondering what else other people are eating for their pre-op diet? What is your typical diet menu?

  7. I hope he will amend it for you! I know a couple of medical professionals I have told have not been happy about the Mexico thing. In fact I had to change my PCP as she was not supportive at all & gave me a 20 minute lecture about the perils of Mexico! Thankfully now I have a supportive PCP & a super nice psychiatrist & a couple of my friends I have told & they are supportive too. Wish you lots of luck & keep us updated on what happens!
  8. Also just tried the Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel flavor. Had it for lunch (as I just started my 2 week pre-op diet). It was just okay. I did mix it with milk, even though directions say Water, figured it would probably taste gross with water. LOL
  9. Wow, that is horrible! Would you consider going out of the country for your surgery (if you still felt you needed it)? I am going to Mexico as my BMI is not high enough for my insurance to cover it (about 38 right now, but no comorbities).
  10. I am still worrying & freaking out about this. How do you take them with just a sip of water? I normally do a big gulp & realize I cannot do that post-op. So you manage to get them down with just a sip? I hope I can... I hate taking pills as it is!
  11. Oh that is awesome! I cannot wait until I am out of my size 20/22 & in a 10!
  12. Starting my 2 week pre-op diet today! Had a chocolate protein shake for breakfast already.
  13. Only tried a couple, but here are mine. Like - Premier chocolate (apparently they sell this at costco, I just tried a sample) Like - EAS Advantage Chocolate (got this from BJs) Dislike - Premier Vanilla
  14. Yep, I should be at Hotel Lucerna, you, me & Beauty can have a big post-op party & sip chicken broth together! LOL Good luck!
  15. I just mixed it with warm to hot (not boiling) Water (just as hot as it would come out of my faucet!) & it tasted delicious to me!!! I actually had a tonsillectomy/uvullectomy about a 5 weeks ago & drank a few mugs of it then as it tasted so good. So I ordered one more container of it. Guess everyone has different tastes?!!
  16. Yep, few on May 1st & few on May 10th too, that is great! Start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow. Making me a bit nervous, only because this is making it so real! But excited too!
  17. May 10th here too, but with Dr Kelly in Mexico. I am also excited & nervous!
  18. Glad everything worked out for you! Oh & I am on May 10 too, in Mexico also!
  19. Yeah, I am sure my weight has crept up a couple of pounds since I set my surgery date too. As I've been pigging out a little bit! So actually looking forward to starting a 2 week diet to help me get back down a bit! I would be embarrassed if I showed up heavier than what I wrote down on the application!
  20. Congrats Mike, those are some GREAT numbers! Well done & keep up the fantastic work!
  21. I am May 10th with Dr Kelly, also in Mexico. So will be right behind you!
  22. I will also be praying for you, but I am sure everything will go great. Congrats!
  23. Artsy, it all depends on your insurance as to whether you will be approved or not. I had a bmi of about 38.5, but no co-morbidities (no sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure etc.). My insurance would not cover me. So I would be self-pay, so opted to go to Mexico for my surgery. They have really skilled surgeons with lots of years of experience & cheaper than it would have been locally.
