Thank you everyone! Well it looks like I have a new PCP. She was just worried about if something comes up after surgery that is major, but said she is willing to do post-op check ups for my incisions & for the bloodwork. Yay! Big relief & weight off my shoulders!

Has anyone else had this? I am having surgery in Mexico & live in NJ, so a long flight for me, so this worries me a bit!

Thanks all. I guess I kind of knew she was misinformed & being close-minded about the whole thing. But she still got me thinking & worrying a bit! I am hoping I may have found a new PCP already. I went to visit one locally & receptionist was very nice & said she didn't think there would be a problem. So I have an appt with the new PCP tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works out!

Well the only good thing was that she spent 15 minutes on the phone with me last night, but bad news was it was full of crap!!! She told me she would never "go to a 3rd world country for surgery of any kind" and that "all the hospitals are dirty there, they don't have the same standards". She said that the areas are poor and not safe to go to. Then she was questioning me on Dr Kelly's credentials asking where he went to school (I said I believe it was Michigan). Did he practice in the States? If not why doesn't he practice here now? Does he have any malpractice cases against him? Oh & she doesn't like that "they just cut you up and dump you" as you need a lot of post-op care. Bottom line, she doesn't feel comfortable with doing any post-op care for me, said she wouldn't know where to start. So I guess now I am worried about my decision of going to Mexico, and have to find a new PCP. Sigh.

I just thought about this & was a bit worried. Would post-operative care, if I went to my PCP be covered by insurance? Things like checking on the incisions & doing bloodwork? Either way it won't make a difference as I am doing this anyway! But just wondered if I would be covered.

I am booked with Dr Kelly for May 10th, around 2pm. Just booked my flights!

I have briefly told my twin girls about my 'tummy surgery' explaining I will be away just for a few days and that it will help to make mommy more skinny & healthier. That I will be able to do more things with them as mommy won't get tired all the time. One of my daughters is really upset though, she is crying right now. Keeps saying she doesn't want me to change & likes me as I am. It is breaking my heart. I asked her if she was scared of the operation & she said no, she just doesn't want me to change. I explained it will only be the way I look that will change & that will happen slowly. But I will still be the same mommy & still do fun stuff with them. But she is still crying. I don't know what else to say to her to make her feel better about this. It really is breaking my heart!

I am getting sleeved May 10th also, by Dr Kelly down in Mexico. I am excited & nervous! I need to tell my PCP & am nervous about that. Don't think she will be very happy, but if she kicks up a fuss I will just change doctors!

Really? See I tried the Unjury chicken soup & I love that! So definitely a matter of taste I guess.

I also received a call from Omar this weekend & just sent him an e-mail today. He said he is answering e-mails, but just trying to play catch up with them. But sounded like he spoke very good English, which is good for me as I speak no Spanish! I am happy to see things are getting straightened out with Dr Kelly now. Oh & looks like I am scheduled for May 10th! Getting a little nervous about that already!

Oh & I do mail order pharmacy for our insurance... so cannot really see if they will do liquid medicine instead. Anyone found a good liquid or chewable multi-Vitamin? That pill is the worse for me as it is huge.

Okay, if you crush it... still how do you get it down then? You can't swig/gulp water, so how do you get it down. Figuring it will taste nasty if I just try to sip water to get all my crushed pills down!

I just got an e-mail from Ana (like 2 minutes ago!) saying Omar will be answering the phone & checking e-mails. Then she said so sorry about he delay & patience! So hopefully they are geting to the e-mails soon & just slowly.

Ana has always been so fast to answer my e-mails & then haven't heard anything for about 4 or 5 days. I am waiting to hear back if I have been approved for a surgery date. I was hoping for May 10th, but waiting to hear confirmation of that. If I don't hear anything by next monday then I will try calling them. Do you have the number for them? It is 619-395-5347. Just wondering,in general, how long after surgery can you drive a car? Hoping to have my surgery on May 10th & just noticed I have a dentist appt on May 18th. So wanted to see if I need to change that appt or not.

I am thinking I normally gulp down Water when taking a pill, but thinking I wouldn't be able to do that post-op. So then how do you take pills? I am on 3 medications, plus a multi-Vitamin (huge pill) plus D3 gel caplet. So wondering how I will swallow all of them!

I see a lot of the Protein shakes say to mix with milk or Water. Can you use milk for the Protein Shakes post-op or just water?
