Lets talk Sliders!
ice cream cannot be in my home for me. It calls to me at night It soothes me. So frozen yogurt occasionally. Regular Greek Yogurt. Sigh. Can't have it. I know myself not to buy ice cream. Has any one else noticed you shop so much less?

Frequent sliming
it took me a long while to learn to eat slowly for 20 minutes per meal . That mindless eating was what got me here. I try to sit down with an appropriate meal (by myself. Recently widowed. Another story) and look at the clock. Chew chew. Fork down. Good luck

My little lap band monster is coming out!
Nicely put Jack. You certainly have a gift for writing. Kinda sounds like the renaissance fair conversations. Haha meant in a nice way I certainly agree it is a daily journey to fight off the old ways of coping using food. Seems to get somewhat easier head wise years out of Surgery. I'm headed for 8 years banded and am so pleased. ..wish I knew about it sooner.. Still learning things here.

Wishing there was a 5 year post surgery forum
So wish there was a better veterans forum. Some place that us "seasoned" bandsters (or any post WLS) could chat about years down the line. Maybe how things change in year after year of working with our post surgery body. It is a bit dismaying to have advice from others who haven't had surgery or read a book and are giving advice. We actually have lived it! Just a thought. Anyone else want to comment?

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?
Linda. You are so kind! We all have something to offer and we all can learn from each other. People sometimes want help. Others want to rant. Emotions run high. Especially when we don't have our crutch we have used to excess. Food! I have found nice support and ignored ranters A nice food tip was the 60 calorie no fat bars offered by the box frozen. At Dairy Queen Would not have ever known that. Certainly not my choice 7 years ago. But now. Life is different and I'm thankful to not fight food everyday'

Totally curious... How many calories per day are you on?
My post band body only needs and wants around 1000 calories a day. Math doesn't work on bodies that did Not cooperate with us( in my opinion). I am faithful to work outs and protein and I stay about the same for years now. Sigh. Thank goodness I'm not hungry much and most important for me....The weight stays off. I am very happy staying smaller in this world. Would do it again. At a younger age!!!
-
Frustrated!
I agree that after years our body seems to adjust to a new set point. I am faithful to good food, high protein and working out. Not perfect but really good 90+% of the time. Yet my body wants to stay within a 5 lb range. I don't gain so I'm good with it. Just seems like eating close to 1000 calories or under would stimulate more weight loss...... but sadly not the case I do love staying a smaller size for years tho!

Wedding dress size questions

September 27 2013 to now
you look so much younger.! And happier. Congrats on your success. You must Feel much healthier on a daily basis. In my opinion, life is easier when you feel more "normal". Whatever that means to each of usKeep it up!

Gaining slightly during a stall
there are ups and downs for most people I would think. You are so right with the numbers. We know we didn't overeat anywhere near a pound of calories (3500) yet it shows up. Life is not fair. Personally I can keep calories low and work out and times the scale won't budge. I also checked out some new medication side effects. Of course weight gAin was listed. I was able to switch meds thankfully and my clothes are once again feeling looser (I am not a daily weigher). And just for added pounds.... Menopause does not help Nonetheless. Here I am headed towards 8 years post surgery and happy to not "fight" hunger daily Life is easier at a more "normal" size for me. Good luck!!

I give up!
Well said. I think some people don't understand that many overweight people are truly hungry. You cannot just diet your way out of that. It remains until a large change happens in my opinion. That was a huge gift with the band. No more obsessing thinking planning shopping cooking cleaning. Centered around food. It is just a more everyday small need than focus of my life. I am thankful!!

I give up!
Good luck. Just keep going and trying. Lots of us have just put one good day next to another and another. Yes occasionally. Cocktails or a desert sidetrack THAT DAY. But then it seems to me easier to get back to putting good days together again I could have lost. But never Maintained!!! My weight loss for 7 1/2 years without a tiny piece of Equipment in my stomach entry. I mostly appreciate NOT being hungry except when needed Keep going. Keep us posted

Feel no restiction after almost 5 years of success.
tThis is one of the hardest long term life lesson I have ever experienced. Even 7 years out. A little too loose and I regain. Sigh. Don't want it too tight tho part of me loves losing weight absolutely. Back to the dr
