Lost 40 pounds in two weeks

Thank you berry. I'm happy for anyone that sheds weight. It is so difficult in this society . I hope others don't feel it is as easy for them. Most people absolutely cannot lose 28 lbs in 2 weeks... but I am happy you did and you kept going.... nothing good in life is easy as my mom would say Success feels great to everyone. Even if it is 5 pounds![emoji486]

    Is Constant Vomiting Normal ☹️?

I feel the same about food coming up There is no smell. It is just undigested food still in my throat. And it slides out easily and I feel much better. Please don't worry about the stranger issues that sometimes come.... (both ends can react). The trade off of shedding lots of weight and KEEPING the pounds off really made the it well worth it. Best of luck

Sleeve Veterans: What makes you successful long term?

Great topic. I'm an oldie lap band. 10 years post wls. Some of us are still around It is still work I am here to tell you. But life is way easier with a 90 lb loss. If I'm unmindful.... I can inch up the scale. Then like Kathy said.....It is back to water and walking and light eating. I am still so thankful for my tool, But I am arguing with 10 lbs right now. Oh well. Life is still good!!

    Confused About Expected Weight Loss

Ditto this. Be happy we got healthier. Not just a number!!! I've been at this post wls 10 years. And it is rare to lose it all and keep it all off. Some do. Most of us just do way better than before and it is all relative to where you start

    Anybody have a trainer??

I share a trainer and it sure makes me accountable. I had joined gyms in my past. But never have stuck with it. Now I'm at 10 years post op and training. And I think they go hand in hand. Yes it costs. So does food and health problems. Just my solution so I DO GO 2 x a week ! She kicks my ass. Not too much nutrition talk. Just clean eating

When is it ok to try a sweet?

My take as a 10 year post wls. Is just get to the starting line. Don't overthink Xmas and the rest of the year.... Just relax and start and do the best you can for your first month. You can always re-evaluate items as they come up ... further down the road. You have to get on the road first .... Don't worry about the exits on the road. Just get prepared and get started and see where you go!! Best of luck
  15. Thank you very much for the great first hand info Best of luck to you and please keep us informed. This site is great for all kinds of info!!

Soda? Just hit 9 weeks today! Down 38lbs!

My take is we are looking to CHANGE our eating and drinking habits for good with surgery.... that does not mean finding a way back to soda ... for me... Doctors routinely advise against the awful ingredients in soda. Some people just want what they Used to do. I encourage patients to Please try to take this huge change in your body... that you may get only once in your life ....by changing a few basic rules: Water. Protein. Exercise.... really. Truly It is hard to see some wanting to return to bad habits.... I don't pretend to have all the answers... but drinking a caustic fluid with no nutritional value cannot be a great part of a healthy new life. Just my 10 year post op thoughts

    Lap band question

For me, taking a prescription acid blocker daily has helped tremendously. I did not realize how irritated my stomach was. Daily.... It is better for now. Good luck and please keep posting (Banded 12/06).
  20. Thank you for sharing such a personal story. I have never read if anyone doing their own fills! I'm glad to read you took control over your body and your health. It is a challenge everyday for me. I try and no one is perfect.... but I just get back on program sooner I suppose . I'm thankful to keep my band for over 10 years and maintain a 90 lb weight loss...I wish it was 100 but am glad I'm not arguing with a large chunk of weight . I still have to remind myself of my goals often . Some weeks are better than others!

I think I may have lost control

Glad to see some current banders support each other. There are few of us still here! ( banded 12/06) Maintaining 90 lb loss. Wishing it was 100, but fine with my body and health!! Thankful
  23. I respect all religions. We all seem to try to help each other... But please people quit asking for prayers for neighbors and strangers... and /or blaming or thanking a deity for gain or loss. You gotta do the work!!

It becomes about you and your habits after the magical year or so. It is hard! It can be done But takes much work and time and commitment... I can't go back! Everyday I try

    Post Band Fills

Good luck on your new , different way of life. Like many say, this is for the long run, not a sprint . I will share I am 10 years plus banded and still working with fills and unfills. It stays the same for years and then , for me, can change. I really caution going slowly. Overfills serve no one and can damage and super irritate your band. Then it can take a long time to calm down. Keep going slowly but surely ...and use your time to really change some basic eating and exercising habits,.... please keep posting!!
