So disheartened and defeated.
Julie norton replied to une nouvelle vie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My two cents is WLS changes the body in a lot of ways. I don't believe we can use "average" charts for weight loss, especially years out. I have noticed many of us veterans don't get to a perfect goal weight but can MAINTAIN a healthy lower weight for many years...with good diet practices and exercise. I feel some of us are a bit larger and healthy. That is the bliss for me. No more up and down. No drastic diet measures followed by regains. Just a great healthy lifestyle. Shopping in regular stores. Not worrying about walking up a huge hill ( me yesterday). Enjoying a " normal" mid life and not obsessing about food! Imperfect me. Love it! Almost 8 years Happy!!! -
thanks. Just ordered them. Any tips on tastiest vs cardboard like?

Perfectly imperfect me. Damn auto correct

Good luck with your choice. I chose banding 7 1/2 years ago because it seemed to be the least invasive. I would do it again tomorrow. No more yo -yo up and down dieting. Very happy and content. Perfectly perfect me

Random restriction...temperamental band!
Julie norton replied to coachshalyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes. I feel more restricted in the am. First food of the day takes me a bit. Sometimes I need to get up and walk around . Then some days. Like someone posted Yogurt is barely doable. Is it hydration ? I usually drink the same amount of water. Once I'm irritated it takes awhile to settle. Then back to life light! -
This is a funny thread. Never ever going back. Don't want to feel self conscious.....don't want to be uncomfortable lots of the time....want to have this great lifestyle and feel healthy Done with the daily struggle of fighting hunger all day. Happy and imperfect. Heck ya

Starting from scratch... But with a WAY better attitude this time!
Julie norton replied to BandedInBama's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Txdiva Best of luck on your journey. This forum is nice to see different ways people travel down WLS life. Seems to be a common thread about protein ,water, exercise and making appt. to see your doctor. I like that these things are long term goals and not the old yoyo diets we mostly were on/ off before. I'm convinced on/off drastic dieting without support confuses our body and does not make it behave correctly.... weight wise. Just my opinion. But I don't want to ever go back to pre band and the struggle and hunger for YEARS. FYI. Banded 12/06. Happy. Healthy imperfect me! -
To view Nice to see some country!

Sweeping generalizations make me NUTS!

Great rant. That is exactly why we are here (I'm ok with the not praying) Rave on! -
ice cream cannot be in my home for me. It calls to me at night It soothes me. So frozen yogurt occasionally. Regular Greek Yogurt. Sigh. Can't have it. I know myself not to buy ice cream. Has any one else noticed you shop so much less?

it took me a long while to learn to eat slowly for 20 minutes per meal . That mindless eating was what got me here. I try to sit down with an appropriate meal (by myself. Recently widowed. Another story) and look at the clock. Chew chew. Fork down. Good luck

dahliaPlease tell us about Cooperstown ! Wanted to hear about it for a long while. I am quite a fan and season ticket holder for my SF Giants. Sigh. Good and bad years. I am there always Thanks for any info

My little lap band monster is coming out!
Julie norton replied to mermaiddreams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nicely put Jack. You certainly have a gift for writing. Kinda sounds like the renaissance fair conversations. Haha meant in a nice way I certainly agree it is a daily journey to fight off the old ways of coping using food. Seems to get somewhat easier head wise years out of Surgery. I'm headed for 8 years banded and am so pleased. ..wish I knew about it sooner.. Still learning things here. -
I rode my (pink) cruiser bike around the area and stopped and bought coffee. It was a very nice day. Around 70• Put me in a good mood. Monday is gym day. Sigh. Always happier after I'm done

Nice personal story of carolinagirls journey. I enjoy her posts and she tells like it is. Congratulations to our mediator guru Alex. 11 years gives us all hope on our long term life. -

Where do you find quest bars? Interested in trying. I usually do protein drinks from costco They always seem to agree with me and have 30 grams of protein

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?
Julie norton replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Rants & Raves
Linda. You are so kind! We all have something to offer and we all can learn from each other. People sometimes want help. Others want to rant. Emotions run high. Especially when we don't have our crutch we have used to excess. Food! I have found nice support and ignored ranters A nice food tip was the 60 calorie no fat bars offered by the box frozen. At Dairy Queen Would not have ever known that. Certainly not my choice 7 years ago. But now. Life is different and I'm thankful to not fight food everyday' -
Totally curious... How many calories per day are you on?
Julie norton replied to BandedInBama's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My post band body only needs and wants around 1000 calories a day. Math doesn't work on bodies that did Not cooperate with us( in my opinion). I am faithful to work outs and protein and I stay about the same for years now. Sigh. Thank goodness I'm not hungry much and most important for me....The weight stays off. I am very happy staying smaller in this world. Would do it again. At a younger age!!! -
I agree that after years our body seems to adjust to a new set point. I am faithful to good food, high protein and working out. Not perfect but really good 90+% of the time. Yet my body wants to stay within a 5 lb range. I don't gain so I'm good with it. Just seems like eating close to 1000 calories or under would stimulate more weight loss...... but sadly not the case I do love staying a smaller size for years tho!

Please send or post more info. I am interested ! also if anyone sees a cruise from the west coast Please post about it. Will save days of travel and cost for us out here. Thanks

Also remember bridal sizes are always 2-4 sizes higher than normal. Frustrating. But true. If you take a 14. In bridal it will closer to 18. Sigh Like brides need that. Good luck. A smile will be the best thing you where!!!!
