    Walking shoes? Help

I also like my new balance shoes. I got a man's size as they run wider and I need that. I found a pair at Marshall's ... It might help to be sized by a professional. ( you don't have to but their brand) so you know just what is right for your feet. I found out one foot is longer than the other. Who knew?? Good luck. I'm of the opinion we all need sturdy well fitting shoes to help us

    What Are Your Thanksgiving Plans?

I will miss my kids... Both working.. I will have a normal size dinner AND some dessert. I worked out hard 2 x this week and will add one more before Sunday It get much easier as the years (8) go by to not worry about over eating. These are the first holidays I'll be going thru... (widowed suddenly earlier this year... )So I'll be sad .. But food isn't my coping mechanism.. I'll just stay sad and have to feel raw.. Enough ... I'm thankful for family and friends and I do depend on this site almost daily to learn something. Thank you to all????????enjoy your time

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?

Yes !!!51 when I was banded. (Almost 52). That was 8 years ago and I would not trade my process for anyone or anything. Changed how I "fit" in this world Good luck!

    One Year!

Great year. !!!! Lots to be thankful for huh? How about not driven by hunger? Or thinking ( obsessing ) about food buying prepping shopping cooking cleaning. Lots of energy to save. And $$$. And for me, not feeling like I failed each time I tried to lose weight. Just " normal". Whatever that us to each of us. ????????congrats! Enjoy your posts.
  7. Good point CG. Anyone altering their body with WLS needs to know that it is also a mindset change. Can't stay the same and have big changes.... For long. After the " honeymoon" ends, there are choices to be made ????I'm thankful

    LapBand Forum going away?

My 2 cents worth.... ANYONE having surgery to alter their body. ....Better think deep and hard about altering their mindset. I get that food addiction is very tough to manage and mostly unsuccessful. Unless you get a tool to help... Short term WW. Jenny Craig etc will work. I had enough of feeling like I failed for years. I have reviled in joy and health for 8 years and will support anyone who chooses to truly change their life ....in any positive way... Just me

Arlene Funny beavers !! So glad you had an active and fun day. What a joy ( and hard work) 2 year olds are. I bet you are thankful .
  10. I was chasing a volleyball that got away from my stepdaughter down ahill and my jeans were literally sliding off. Had to keep yanking I cannot remember that happening in my life

    Banders #6

Food becomes not an option for me when things derail. In fact my band gets upset when I do. Does this happen to others too? Had to find new ways to cope. Clearly my appetite is dimmed. And at times I just can't control what my band will do. I'm ok with that most of the time. Can't fight it. So I let it drive????

    LapBand Forum going away?

I like stories about maintenance because that happens to be where I am at. Pre op. I can't contribute much as lots has changed since dec 2006. I'm open to listening to ideas... Struggles... Jokes. I just find it a different category the first months of post surgery. Things certainly change years down the road. Just me

    LapBand Forum going away?

B 52 I notice that bands are being placed less also. The WLS group I'm in has 2 out of 40 banders. I respect all forms. Truly. It is just big differences in outcomes, cost, recovery, weight loss so it is harder to relate. It's exciting to read honeymooners stories first year in. I would like to see more veterans post. It is quite different 4-5-6--10 years out And I like seeing how people cope. And NOT with band removal. Sigh. I'll stop now. I am thankful????

Would you have WLS again? What kind?

Lab You are very smart about how far surgeries have come... And where we might be headed... Could be a simple amount of over absorption??Or a turn off switch for those with much hunger. ???? All I do know is I'm thankful for the band dimming my appetite so I could get a grip on health and exercise. I felt like I failed every other diet and this afforded me success for almost 8 years. That. I am thankful for????

What have you been doing with the new you?

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?

Cowgirl Really well put. For all of us .....the "honeymoon" ends at some point and it is on us to continue to make good choices. This is a harder issue if we are non compliant. I read that about 1/3 of WLS patients regain their weight. Could this be so? Does anyone have any facts about this? Or which surgery most likely to have regains? Anyway. The point of having all those pre surgery tests and classes could be to weed out a few that do not seem to be ready 8 years ago I had 1 pre class and one meeting with the nut. The drs wife. Not enough info Glad it has changed
