    Banders #7

Thank you Liz. Some weeks and months are better than others. I get asked out occasionally. All kinds... from an ex mayor/ Atty. To the bag boy at Safeway who I think cuts his own hair and was trying to give me 1/2 off on a sandwich Sigh... no one compares to my wonderful late husband ... maybe someday

To scale or not to scale

I weigh once a week. After all these years and staying in a " range" I'm ok with, I can't be moody up and down according to that days weight. Just for me, I'm ok once a week and work from there. Some months are great. Some not. Still I try
  3. Or. This is my take ; Put that scale away til Friday (any day you choose)am for a week or two and see if that helps your head. This is a long term project. Breathe. Drink water and eat protein and do the best you can to move. Best to you

    Banders #7

I still want to be alone, 3 years after being widowed. Is that normal behavior? My weight is normal. Maybe my attitude isn't Would anyone understand about eating restrictions? Seems complicated and I want smooth. Sigh

How do I take flattering photos?

I like to press my tongue to the roof of my mouth to smile and try to really open my eyes. Not squint smile. And have the camera above you. Just me

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...

Thanks for the great words Kathy. We are still here. Still working our program. Arguing with about 5 lbs right now. Not so bad... life is good!

Calling all vets. Need help 4 years post op

Nice to see you around the block again Andrew. Many of us argue with 10 lbs..... at least I remember... it is not 100!

    Panniculectomy?

That was a lot of extra skin. 15 lbs is a burden to carry ! I'm so glad it is over. Hope you feel more "normal" after all the swelling goes down. A bit painful on getting up and down. No? That was hardest for me

    Leaving dieting behind

Many of us veterans still work on balance of food and exercise in proportion to where we are and want to be on the scale!! DAILY it can not be lackadaisical for me. Even after 10 successful years. Best luck to us all going thru life

    Panniculectomy?

I thought it was totally worth it! It did take a good 10 days to truly feel that way. Getting up and down was hard at first. The binder they put on you really helps. (Like a Velcro girdle) I kept mine on awhile and used spanx after that. I was 60 so I didn't need perfection, but I am happy I no longer have any overhang and I do have a flat stomach!! Good luck. You got this! Congrats on changing your body and I'm guessing your life!

    Hard to digest meat

I am years out and still find sauces, soups , braised in liquid meats, chili etc much more palatable. Gotta work with what ya got! I am banded and it is fussy.
  13. Next was refried beans with a shred of cheese. Heavenly at that point!

    One year surgiversary!

Congrats!! That is awesome to change your life. Please be very careful getting up or sitting/ lying down. That was painful for me. The compression garment helped a lot!! You will feel better when you are up around after!!

What type of band do you have?

To diet or to do WLS

Yep. 5% success rate with dieting. Sad. I truly tried. For years. Finally I had wls. What a life changing experience. I still have to eat right and exercise. But IT WORKS!! 10 years later and I am happy with my size. Nothing is perfect. But I can navigate this world from a size 12 better than a size 24 Best of luck on whatever you decide is best for you.

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...

There are a few of us in the woodwork that come out... it is difficult to keep the same level of interest and excitement as the years. And a decade ! Add on to the post op. I still get lots of inspiration from here. Sad to not see many frequent posters tho ....

    Do you still enjoy life?

I adore all the " can do" things that come with weight loss and changing your life. No one has mentioned the fractured friendships that we had when we ate together a lot. No one happen to say I'd love to have a drink and an appetizer and a nice meal. Not gonna happen for many. It is a wonderful healthy life, but personally. There are few occasions I miss the wild abandon of a second drink! And a dessert. All in one night , And not often , but occasionally would be fun. I'm a 10 year bander so I get it is a bit different for many of us[emoji486]

    I feel so guilty

And I'm still trying. And not joyful to be 7 lbs over where I want. There are many worst things... but I try to keep my weight semi under control. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not

    Split pea soup??

Puréed I would guess. No chunks of any kind ask to be sure, but I was allowed that. We all have different plans. Best of luck. It can change your life

I weigh less than 200 pounds!!

You always remember getting under 200. Someone said that for whatever reason you don't recall going over it. Thoughts? Congratulations that is a big milestone

Calling all vets. Need help 4 years post op

My take is : Sometimes we just have to be content with where we are weight wise. If it feels healthy and you can work out, Or climb a steep hill. And you feel good. That may be where you stay. Arguing with 10 lbs is a hellava lot easier than fighting 100 lbs!! I know this personally Good luck[emoji122]

Gaining weight after 250+ lb loss since 2008

Great BGirl. I know it can be tough without our tool. If I don't compromise my eating plan when my band is empty. I'm ok. As soon as it is breached. My body asks and begs for more food In answer to a question. I don't get heartburn much. But I reject the first food of the day very often Then it gets better

Travel with prior adjustment to band

Travel is very difficult on my band. Fluids mostly. Protein bars. I would not recommend a fill anytime near a flight. Just me
