    Protein bars

Harder to reach a high protein count without bars / shakes for me. Fruit had almost no protein I'm thinking
  2. Ps I think it is normal for some post op people to not crave or want food sometimes. Such a different feeling than before. I'm still amazed 10 years later that I forgot to eat sometimes. ......Of course then the beast returns wanting sugar .... it is a constant balancing act But a different life than 90 lbs ago

    Flying with the lap Band

I think the swelling that is normal for your feet and such when you fly also irritates the band a bit. I drink more fluid and eat less until I get to my destinations. I got "stuck " Once on a long flight and it was not pleasant. I was much better the next day Now I bring protein bars or some nuts and string cheese to get me there. Bon voyage

    Band Overfill

Be careful with too tight bands. I used watered down pedialyte until I could get back to my doc for an unfill Let us know how it went please

    What should my goal be?

Sophie That is a tremendous victory. [emoji322] You must feel so much healthier and less tired than before.... not to mention how our society treats larger people ....that makes it even harder for big people to do more things.... in my view . I'm 10 years post band and a size 24 to 12. I like size 12!!! My body does too. So I basically eat protein and work out and try my best to stay that size. Best to you and congrats on hard work
  6. I use regular fairlife. But sparingly. Don't like sugar free or fat free items very much , I really try to eat well instead Mostly it works. But being human, we all have difficult days sometimes

    Protein bars

After 10 years post op, I use quest and one bars as a fast lunch or after work outs. I really depend on them a couple of times a week

    What should my goal be?

You might know what you feel is a "right" weight for you when you get there. Often, bodies seem to have set points that they are comfortable at and are more sensible to maintain. Good luck and keep posting!
  9. I've never seen a weigh in at post surgery support groups. Tears. Questions. Stories. But no scale. !!
  10. Ok. Where are the 10 year veterans???? I just don't see or hear from many. Just say hi if you are still here from years ago!!! We are all trying to be healthy and sort of doing the same thing in tandem

    Slimband March 2017 closing

I happen to have 1.5 cc's in my inamed band. It is an antique (10 years old)and holds only 4 cc max. I find I have less reflux gagging when I keep the amount low. I don't like arguing with almost every meal. I still am not hungry in the a.m. But I try protein shakes. I really want to keep my band!! Good luck and please keep posting. There are so few of us banders around And please don't mistake me for someone who has this figured out!! I still try and stumble often!

    Food scales

I like small plates and demitasse spoons. ( very small). I don't know why, but years later they still help me to eat slower and more methodically. My take is we all try to find what method helps us stay at a lower weight. Maybe not perfect. Or goal. But 90 lbs off for 10 years is my personal best, and I am thrilled with it. Size12 works for me Don't mistake this for someone who doesn't trip and fall....a lot. I just seem to be able to get up quicker and move on. Good luck and please keep posting. Us vets love to hear what works for others!!
  15. Maybe refried beans with cheese when you are cleared? Baked store bought tofu might surprise you (teriyaki for me). Greek yogurt? Fairlife extra protein milk, quest bars and one bars help me. Keep trying. You can do this and it could change your life!!

    Anyone in Texas?

I think pre diet may be one of the hardest parts. It does get better for almost all of us after surgery. Hang tough. You got this. It can change your life!

    all alone

You are not alone. Many others have been through this and can help. My take is the overall aim for good health trumps all! The numbers are important but how you feel is much more relevant I think your relationship with food will evolve quickly after surgery. You hopefully will not hear the sirens call for food all the time.... small amounts probably will fill you up. What small amounts you CHOOSE will make a big difference in the long run . That is the goal: the long run .... not a diet... a different lifestyle that evolves!! Best of luck. Keep posting! Us vets like to hear success stories!!

Back for support - nearly 7 years sleeved!

Nice to see you are still around MC ! 20 lbs is not a lot compared to where we started. It is all relative. Your sensibly advice is missed. You are also a true veteran!!

    Going on a cruise....

My strategy was to ALWAYS take the stairs. I paid a little extra for the fine dining restaurants. Walked the decks. Took a class. Shore excursions Room service. Lots of options besides carb loaded buffets. Bon voyage
  21. Sometimes lying on my left side with a heating pad provides me with relief Keep posting and good luck on your journey ahead

I feel like its too soon!?

Mostly, I believe we figure out what our body tolerates the easiest. ( and is healthy). For whatever reason, I'm stuck on my home made split pea soup. Enough fiber and small bits of ham for protein.carrots for vege in there too I still eat fairly slow. And chew a lot. My protein bests: Fairlife milk. Yogurt BAKED tofu,. (Big difference) some nuts. Protein bars. Sometimes protein drinksSometimes eggs/ occasionally rejected ? String cheese Chicken thighs braised, fish After 10 years of experimenting, that is my go to list. Hope you find your list. It helps!

I feel like its too soon!?

Lots of noise and gurgling also accompany my meals. Many. Not all. It is a bit disconcerting.... sometimes if I am burping a lot I know that the food may not agree with me. I can lie down with a heating pad on my left side and often that is enough to comfort my stomach. Sometimes the same food on the next day reacts??? I just go with it after all these years. Not much choice
  24. Everyone is so different with weigh ins. I did not for a few years except at the dr Now, after 10 years I do try for every Friday morning... but if I forget, I wait another week. It doesn't change too much.... and if I go over my limit I am right on it.... Still. I'm human and we all fall down sometimes, right? It is the getting up that helps me....and checking in with others here !!

    For the 45+ crowd

My take is health first .... then they make many remedies for other skin issues. I'm thankful I did it 10 years ago. It changed my life Best of luck on a long healthy life!!
