So happy to see veterans here. Up. Down. Confused. All of us at one point I think I am thankful for the comoderie I find here. Thank you ladies! And since I posted a happy , 10 years post op pic, I thought I would share a glimpse of my old self. Who I do not want to revisit , I remind myself . I was kinda happy. But very unhealthy and that was 15 years ago. Life is better in many ways. Widowhood is not what I wanted. Such is life

    Vomiting after eating meat

I'm a fan of baked tofu. Not the white jiggly stuff in water. Dry and flavored in a vacuum pack. Safeway has it here. Look a bit harder and it is refrigerated Some softer protein bars... chewed well .. best of luck. Protein is so important. And keeping food down is way important!! Fairlife extra protein milk. Sugar free pudding ?? Refried beans mushy...?Worth a try

    Halo ice cream

I'm many years out. I do enjoy Halo ice cream as a treat.. I just try to limit the sweet treats that I like sooooo much. However, the 200 calories I Can get from almost a whole pint(!) can fit in my healthy range of calories ... just not too often. And I probably would have some every night if it was in front of me!!! Not perfect ever ... just trying almost all the time.

    Can't get protein in, HELP!

Some protein bars could agree with you.... also baked tofu. It is much different from white, jiggly containers. Teriyaki is very good. And super firm and dryer. Even some supermarkets ( and health food store) carry it. Fainting is not good. Keep trying other sources of protein : beans. Quinoa etc and ask a nutritionist. Best to you

    Leaving dieting behind

Yep summerset Those of us who have been here a long while know a few problems with bellablooms eating habits Each to their own, but bad advice is very hard on newcomers. I caution those people!!! Please work YOUR program and be wary of "diet" advice. Some of us many year veterans still listen to the : protein. Exercise. Water and Visit your dr advice! Banded 12/06. Loving my healthy life

Having Trouble With Slime And Burping

Absolutely..... personally this has happened to me... I really did not want to believe it.... and antacids and stomach calmers. Amoxaprole ? Those did help. And settling the issues finally this month will help.... sigh

    De-fill diet

My doc says liquids and yogurt .... very soft foods for 1-2 days Especially if you have had an irritated band. Hope it all calms down for you.

    Y'all! I'm hungry!

Just a slight warning: careful of focusing on food too much. It is what brought many of us here to wls land. Personally. I limit my exposure to food ... even 10 years later.... I do not watch commercials. Rarely see a cooking show. Don't wander the aisles of the grocery store... I have a fairly decent sense of the protein and assorted other items I need. It helps me. I hope your cookbook is filled with healthy items for a successful future with less and certainly healthier foods. Good luck with your future. You have a great opportunity many do not get and now is the time to use that just for you!!

    361 Days Later: My Story

Great job. I enjoy your posts because they are so real! Yes there is a lot of hoopla in the beginning and not much fanfare at maintenance .... Just us vets here going through every day trying to manage our life without defaulting to our old nemesis: FOOD. I applaud all your hard work and please keep posting about it!
  14. Following. 10 years post banded and lucky to keep my band .... but you never know what comes next in life. I do, however know that weighing 272 lbs will not happen again! Keeping all options open and anxious to hear of the success and pitfalls of this newest wls. Please update if you have any info about it. Thank you We are all trying for a better healthier life in our own ways!

Sorry to hear that lisacaron. It is very difficult yet honorable to help parents. And the difficulties with your band probably just add to the stress! I've given some thought to what my fall back would be if my band fails..... The newest endoscopic sleeve(done through the mouth/ throat/). Looks promising.... a bit less money and down time than laparoscopically... it is still new so of course I don't have any long term results to look at. But at one point the band was fairly new too. I guess we do the best we can with what we got. Best to you. Please keep posting. I miss your banter !

Welcome Sam I go to good Sam as there is no bariatric fills that I know of on this side of the hill. What an exciting time of changes for you ! you gotta believe and trust the program I think. I'm 10 years post op ( banded). So different wls. But I'm still working on staying consistent: protein and exercise being my main components. And that 90 lbs never came back thankfully! Keep posting..., it is good to see fresh people overcoming a big life obstacle like obesity....

    Thinking of joining WW ?

KEEPING the weight off... that was my issue. It always came back. With a bit more. I needed something long term... I chose banding in 2006. I'm thinking I'm lucky I got to keep my weight off and keep my band. Many cannot for lots of reasons I'm just thankful because in the 10 years since surgery, I'm sure I would have increased my weight from 272. To. ??? Glad I'm where I am. Not perfect ever. But many more good days than bad !

    Long Term Results?

10 years banded. Maintaining a 90 lb loss And still I work on it daily! Please do not mistake me for someone who thinks they "got this". I think I just get back to my program quicker .
