Low Blood Sugar And Stalled Weight Loss

I would call your PCP. Maybe you need to be off your meds altogether. Although I was not diabetic I did have a high A1C (and gestational diabetes 17 years ago). I always thought that blood sugar levels had more to do with how your body was handling the glucose levels in your body than anything to do with weight...keeping in mind the higher your weight the more likely you are to have high blood sugar levels.

    Restriction Question

I was banded on 4/13 and have not yet had a fill. My doc didn't even have me scheduled for one until 6/7 but I have rescheduled it for a week later since I will be out of town. Until a couple of days ago I didn't think I would need a fill. In the past few days I seem to be getting hungry more often. I know I need to start journaling again so I can figure out what is happening. I think most people need fills although the amount and frequency varies widely.
  3. I was banded 6 weeks ago and so far it hasn't been too hard. If you have a set schedule try to think about what time you need to stop drinking before your lunch and what time after your lunch you can start again. This has helped me. I work in an elementary school and I plan my drinks - when I can have them and when I have to stop before lunch - into my schedule. Right now it works perfectly for me most days. When school is out and I start another job for the summer I think it will be tougher for me.

    Drinking When Eating..

I hope this link works. It is the most helpful I have ever found to visually show why we don't drink with meals.
  8. I think something you should consider is long term follow up with either procedure. If you are having it done on base (sleeve) or in a civilian hospital (band) and are stationed elsewhere and need follow up care which will be easier to obtain. And which are you most likely to have support with in terms of groups and/or docs familiar with the procedure. It is a decision only you can make. I love my band so far (5 weeks post op). Keep in mind 3-4 months waiting for another procedure - if it is what is best for you - is a small amount of time in the big picture of getting healthy. No matter what your decision is you can start eating healthier now! Good Luck with whatever procedure is right for you!

    Cpap Woes

I stopped using mine after I was down about 75 lbs. I did some trials and found I slept just as well without it. I would suggest you talk with your docs.

    Low Grade Fever

I wouldn't worry about anything under 100 unless you're not feeling well. Although the Tylenol may have already brought it down some.

    Help Feel Like

...What Jean said! She said it much better than I could have.
  13. Good for your husband - don't go and buy another one. If you continue to step on it and see it at a higher number than you want you will just get depressed. Concentrate on eating right, journal, and do as much as you can physically. Give yourself at least a week or maybe two before stepping on a scale.

    Band Slippage

I agree that it could be your gall bladder. It sounds similar to what I experienced when I needed mine out.

    Size Of Bites?

I'm 5 weeks post op and use baby spoons although not exclusively. It does help to keep the bite sizes down as well as slow down your eating.

    Upper Gi Results

I have never had one but I wouldn't expect the person doing the test will be able to tell you anything about it unless they are an MD. While this is very frustrating, there are good reason's for this. When my son was 5 and had to have an ultrasound done on his kidneys the tech made a few comments that were not comforting. I mentioned this to his doctor who had me call the hospital and file a complaint. A few months and a couple of surgeries later he had one of his kidneys removed.

    Water And Hydration Packs

I would ask your doc for advice. I think it may depend on the amount of restriction you have, even though it is just water. I am almost 5 weeks post op and sometimes get a too full feeling if I drink my water to fast. By to fast I don't mean gulping it down either. I keep a bottle of water or crystal light with me almost all day at work, except for a half hour before and after lunch. In my work day I try to drink 16-20 oz between 8 & 11 am, 16-20 oz between 12:30 and 3pm (end of school) and another in the afternoon/evening. I have found sometimes if I drink it faster than that it just seems to make me feel too full. Even though I have not had a fill I do believe I already have good restriction. Last night I wasn't thinking and chugged several ounces at once because I was feeling very thirsty, luckily it did not give me any problems. Maybe I realized what I was doing in time and stopped before I chugged too much. By the way...Good for you planning such an adventure! I hope you all have a wonderful time!

Deb, The "like" is for your milestone. I of course don't like the fact that your mother had an accident. Try to keep some pre made protein shakes in your purse. Remember you can't help your mom if you don't take care of yourself...I'm telling this to a nurse! What am I thinking?

How Did You Decide On A Goal Weight?

I let my Nintendo WII tell me what a healthy weight/BMI was (129 lbs for me) and added a pound just to make it an even 130. I have set smaller goals along the way and am happy every time I see another number ending in 5 or 0 - little goals help!

    Considering Lap Band Surgery

Readers Digest version of my decision - Insurance would cover most of the LapBand and none of anything else. Other reason's - lifelong follow up with docs, not re-routing or removing any of your insides, does not cause mal absorption, removable, adjustable just to name a few.
