    Laura so glad u had the chance to. Get that off your chest with daughter. At 18 she's old enough to hear the truth. I am sure basic will help her grow. As a mom I would not feel bad counting the days till 18 if my child ever raised a hand to me. You should be in fear in your own home. Stay stong and my advise keep talking to her keep lines of communication open both ways

    What did Brown eat today?

    Diner at Cheeders had to estimated and use different cause Cheeder's wasnin my fatsceret. Tracker and I know food prepared at resturant is more than at home came up with 674 for main meal plus appitizer and 175 for spOonfuls of apple pie and ice cream. Total for the day including lunch chicken breast no skin from kfc was 1209. Seems like more it should be more. Don't know if that was good for me to see or bad. I am askinf for help and taking it. Back to tracking every day.

    Jane. I would think eating on dates would be easier, since the time is probably spent talking. But yes..the not drinking with your meal might cause a question or two. As small as you are ( and you look great by the way ) the smaller portions would make sense to him and not encourage questions. What do you mean eating out and dating ?? IN the beginning all the dates are probably at restaurants so tempting foods are always around.. Yep.. gottcha

    Hi Daisy (Denise) trying the larger font sizes. Ok. last post seems too big, trying 24. Still dont' know how to make a spaced line in my posts. Oh well. Larua I feel you on the family and cooking issues. I don't have teenagers in the house anymore, but I do so remember those struggles. When my oldest son was 18 we had the biggest fight about a box. I asked him to take this box downstairs for me. I was struggling to even pick it up. Then he paced around awhile, the fight began with " mom I'm not like you, I can't do EVERYTHING". "this box is awkward and heavy", "if you can't get it down the stairs, what makes you think I can". I replied, in my Boy don't mess with me voice, "Son its not that difficult, just figure it out.. take the box down stairs " I even added a please. At that point he began to struggle to pick it up like he was going to drop it. I then, snatched the box from him, took it downstairs, then bought it back up and told him to take the freaking box downstairs and cut it out!!" OMG!! the firestorm started and ended with my son taking the box downstairs. My 18 year old son, of course trying to be a man,, was simply crushed. At the time I didn't realize what I had actually done to him and to our relationship. We never forget that argument, he's 30 and we are fine now. We actually laugh about it, during the conversation segment of " remember when Mom was tripping!!" They have many stories to tell. The point I'm trying to make is we all go through it. Teens are tough! Especially the ones trying to find themselves, trying to be an adult and they are not. Trying to be equal to the parents and they are not. Oh.. the teen years are really tough. OMG.. I am able to make a space line now ( ha Ha). and the eating. I love fish. I could eat it 3 nights a week. My family doesn't care much for fish. Hubby especially is a steak eater. Well I can't eat much steak, fills me up too fast then I'm hungry later. So I cook chicken and fish. I now live with 3 grown adults, the only one I care to satisfy is my two year old grandson and he's easy now. So I cook what I want to eat and when I hear the "fish again?" , "chicken again?" I send text messages to hubby , daughter and son. Your on your own for diner tonight. YoYo nights.. Never called them that before, but its easier to text so Im gonna introduce it to my family. Laura.. the old mom thing.. they want us the way we were. always cooking, always catering to what they wanted despite what we want and what we need. I found that when I am focused on losing weight I'm focused on me and what I want, which takes away a bit from them and what they think they need. Since you still have younger ones, you may not always be able to go to the YoYo nights, the younger ones would starve or eat horribly. But I'd have a frank discussion bout family needs vs family wants. Cooking lessons for the younger ones might help, start them early learning healthy eating habits. The 18 year old phone throwing daughter.. well that 's another story. Hang in there, this too shall pass. sorry for the long ramble. The family thing really hits home to me. I'm such a mother, always doing for others and at times it seems like they don't care. BTW I think Globe was heading to Germany

    How was your 5:2 day today?

    HI Ladies, still not there yet, haven't had a successful fast day yet. To many parties and shopping trips in the mall. I am keeping the pedometer plan. All recent days over 10,000 steps. Those steps include riding the bike, Zumba and mall shopping. Peaceful diner out with the family last night Grilled Salmon, broccoli and carrots. Took half home, so good on the portion. Oh forgot to mention the chips and queso dip for appetizer and spoonfuls of hot apple pie ala'mode for desert. Haven't put it in the tracker. But I did enjoy may family and that is what life is all about.

    Hi ladies. Yep my name is Wanda. Am am bad at names so it will take some getting used too. ThAnks much for the encouragement. Half my mind gets what your all saying the other half well u know. Sarah (Sar) I have a great relationship with my only daughter too. Besides hubby she's one of my best. Friends. We love to shop together , watch movies, talk forever.I am lucky cause she and her son live with me. It wasn't always like that so I am glad we've grown so close. CGJ you'll always be Jane gotta get past those frogs to get to the prince, but careful comparing everyone to Stephen. Glad your having some success and enjoy yourself. We are all in different places in life , being married for over 30 years I sometimes think about another man being attracted to me. I envy u cause I seem to remember new. Relationships are fun and exciting , with the right guy of course. Take your time look out for the crazy its learking in everyone. I have read these. Recent post on my blackberry and the pics are so small from what I can see its hard to believe u guys were ever heavy. So encouraged by all of u. I am hanging in there.

    What did Brown eat today?

    K. here's my new plan. Fasting Monday and Thursday.. eating the 500 calories. My fast days remain. Hot chocolate Protein for Breakfast ( 80 cals ).. salad only during lunch mainly lettuce and small amount of protein. sometimes I even skip that for lunch or this time of the year I'll switch it up and have some 100 cal soup. Green tea, cold and hot through the day, gets me out of the office with 180 calories. Then diner is typically a 300 cal meal. Normal stuff adding more veggies and cutting back on my protein portion. I think I've been adding the calories by eating more meat than I should. So smaller protein portions and increase the veggies. I'm adding more fresh stuff, fresh spinach, zucchini, fresh broccoli. Normally I'm a canned or frozen gal. Then a 100 calorie snack. That should get me to 500. Then on non fast days. trying to stick to 1200 calories. The only difference in fast and non fast days is breakfast and lunch. I might add an egg or yogart. for breakfast, for lunch I might add half sandwich with the salad. 200 calories for Breakfast ( normally less I typically don't eat breakfast during the week), 300 cals for lunch, typically salad and protein, 400 calories for diner, typically adding two veggies and 300 calories left.. will add a piece of fruit on non fast days , and a 100 calorie planned snack. I have to stop the power crunch bars cold turkey. they are 200 calories and I was having 1 a day. adding to this is the exercise. I ride the recumbent for about 30 minutes most days ( being honest here ).. and home Zumba with the Wii in the evening. At least 10,000 steps a day. I wear my pedometer daily, I have to or I lose a $300 subsidy to my company health care plan. My goal is to do my eating and exercise plan with as little deviation as possible, for this time of the year, for at least a month before I give up or change again. Admittedly I'm not going to go a month without a slip.. but if my good days out weigh my bad days should I not see the stupid scale go down!!.. URGH . Still looking for help.. What are your typical days like?

    How was your 5:2 day today?

    Hi ladies, I'm still here. Not doing well at all. Haven't made the app with my Nut, thought about stopping 5:2. haven't fasted all week. HO! HO! HO!.. this holiday season is bringing all the cookies, cakes, candies and pies to the office is killing me. We are having 12 days of Christmas at the office and one day ( i'm losing track ) was cookie day . Everyone in the building received a cookie. Well there were extra's and my boss suggested I take one home for my grandson. I laughed and said.. "it wouldn't make it home I would eat it in the car".. he said " well take two ", I laughed and said not sure that would get to my grand son either".. then he said " well how many would I have to give you to make at least one home to your grandson". I suggested he just not give me any.. That's a shame.. I'm not even capable of not eating a delicious melt in your mouth cookie for my grandson. I'm in a really bad place. I've gained the few pounds back I started with on 5:2. The science of the plan makes sense. Weight loss shouldn't be this difficult. Eat less calories then your body needs to function and you should lose weight. Simple right?? Then it must be me.. I've gotta be doing something wrong!!.. URGH!!.. BTW.. Hi Susan Welcome to the group. Sounds like you already know many of the others. I read your profile, is there a blog I can read that will help me get to know you? Re-Sleeve is that a real thing? I haven't had good success on 5:2 in the weight loss dept but it has helped with the restriction. Once I got past the first few fast days, fasting was really easy for me. I fast on Monday and Thursday. On non fast days the desire to eat is less and the restriction when I do it is more than before starting 5:2. Even thought 5:2 hasn't seemed to work for me, I'm going to give it another shot, this group has helped me. I don't feel so alone on top of feeling like a failure, desperate, frustrated and confused. K. I'm making some modifications ( there I go again ), but don't give up on me. I need the wisdom of you ladies that have made this work. That have obviously made your sleeve work for your. Since I can't go back in time and loose more weight during my first year.. I'm here moving in to year 3 having hit my 2 year anniversary in Nov 2013 with so much more weight to lose. Unlike you guys I'm not in wonderland. Actually that was never my goal and honestly at this point in my life, I'm fine with that. Just not fine with where I am right now.. I'm not giving up, so don't give up on me. If I can't do this with all the successful ladies of this group, then I really am an epic failure!!.. URGH.. Its Thursday and I'm starting my Thursday fast day. Shakey in my resolve.. but gotta start again somewhere.

    ARGH!! I am on the ledge. Been really trying to lose since starting 5:2 around August or Sept and I can only bounce around the same stupid 5 pounds. Added excersise and still nothing. Yes I have a few bad days. But the good days out weight the bad so I should be losing. This is just like dietin strugggles before the sleeve. And now I am concerned I am eating too much protien. I guess I will make an appt with thewls nutrionist. ARGH!! I have to do something different cause what I am doing and have been doing isn't working. Not ready to give up but darnit I am frustrated!!!

    RJ you've come such a long way with much success. Congrats. Now don't make the mistake made. I hadn't worn a size 16 in 20 years and was thrilled. I got lazy and stopped losing weight. Went into a maintenance mode of eating. Did a great job not gaining any weight for a year. Now I am in year 3 and I want to lose more and its much much harder. So enjoy those 16s u deserve your atta a girl. But keep pushing while the pushing is good. I wish someone had told me that two years ago.

    K I did it!. One more post for the day. After doing such a good job all week, I messed up my Thursday Fast Day. I was doing so well. My company decided to have a 12 days of Christmas gift giving. Yesterday was, you guessed it Chocolate!!. They gave out a Holiday greeting with a mint chocolate Christmas tree. I started out strong. I asked the admin to hold mine until I was ready to leave for the day. No way would I say "No Thanks" that would be rude right ( ha ha ). So when I left I took it with me and attempted not to eat it on the ride home. Well cut to the end.. where I ate one of them, darn there were two. The other one I left in the car glove compartment. But that started my road to a destructive fast day, with Ritz crackers and cream cheese. I ended my great fast day with over 700 calories. I'm so glad God gives us a new day to get it right!!.. Today I get it right!.. Have a great day ladies. I'm checking further into this protein limit. I think I'm doing too much protein and might be a problem. This was so much easier in the beginning when we could only eat a spoonful of food at a time. Now I'm back where I was before the surgery trying to loose weight on my own, and not finding the right balance that gets the scale moving.. But I'm still on the hunt!!.

    URGH!! Mrs IT Manager and I can't post a pic . I've tried three times . I am using more reply options, then browse to my pic , then attach.. seems right.. but when I hit post I get put into the main forum page. then I come back here and the post I was trying to do is gone. Oh Well. I was trying to show you ladies what I'm faced with daily as I go to the microwave to heat my water for my daily protein hot coco. Its a setup of chips, doritos, candy, cookies, etc. You remember I took a stand and move the secondary assult area out of my daily walking view. I still manage to get past it daily, but its freaking hard when they add even more chocolate

    Jane, must be nice getting new attention, having men want to meet you. I would think its exciting, cause you never know who your gonna meet. but then again a bit scary cause you never know who your gonna meet. Do you meet more duds and thuds? as for the guy sounds like you really want but may not be able to have.. my suggestion.. keep him in your life. You never know when he'll be ready to settle down. you can maintain the relationship you've got going on and enjoy the benefits when they are available.. being loved and showered with attention from a person you like also.. hard to find. I say hang in with him as a "side dish" until you find the remaining life partner your seeking. I've been married for over 30 years. We wont win any exciting marriage contest, but we are always there for each other. CGJ I applaud for staying in the game. Sounds like your keeping life interesting even though i'm sure it gets tiring trying to find the right guy to share your life with. Well now you got the hot body that will help attract and you can do the choosing!!

    New Holiday Traditions

    This is a hard time of the year for those of us that got over weight from sweets and other carb goodies. Its all around us and will always be. Time to kick in the lifestyle change. With the sleeve being the new tool we can keep our traditions and eat in moderation. Track to watch those cals. Weigh to watch the pounds don't creep up too much. Add new traditions that don't include food. We can get through this holiday with our tools and support
  19. Have u been back to surgeon and nut? If not get back there they should have advise. If u have been back and they have not helped get to a different wl Center. I would agree that long of a stall is not acceptable for initial surgery loss. I assume u are following the plan. Protien first low carbs not drinking during meals. Portion size no chips candy sweets etc?

    My fast days are Monday right after the weekend and Thursday just before my weekend. I tend to eat out on the weekend and maybe eat less clean than during the week still staying in the right calorie range. I too find it easier to fast when I am working and busy. But night time is always hard. Not eating after diner 4 out of 7 nights is teaching me control

    Globe can we have too much protien? Lately my main source of food and daily is around 80g-100g. My tracker doesn't tell me the percentage but its gotta be 50% my meals are mainly protien (fish,chicken,eggs,beef) not protien drinks. What does too much protien do?

    Good morning ladies. Hope the book is good reading Globe. If your reading this on vaca Sar hope your enjoying the quiet and not missing the kids too much. Maybe. My scale batteries are dead that's why its stuck on the same darn number hahaha. Had a clean Wednesday and ready for fasting. I find my clean eating days have been below 1100 maybe too low?. I have been exerciseing daily for the past 5 days. Not intense like some of u guys but I am moving more than normal. If the scale doesn't start going down soon I am going to FREAK OUT!! How u doing UKCathy and others? Gotten back on the wagon since Thanksving feasting? I have finally gotten rid of the goodies , had to literally throw out the cake and pumpkin bars. In the old days I would have eaten it to get rid of it. Oh how we've grown. Fasting today. Hope everyone has a great day!
