MariaVSG reacted to beachgal2935 in Frozen Pumpkin Pie Protein Pops - Yum!
Hi everyone - I've been back in my kitchen experimenting again! This time of year I love everything pumpkin and I recently purchased some really good Inspire brand pumpkin pie Protein Powder. I've had it hot, cold and thought ... what else could I do with this tasty stuff?! Then voila - I decided to mix it with all my favorite things and freeze it. I know it's not Summer, though it's been in the low 80's here in Florida this weekend, but I'm freezing all the time now anyways, so what's the difference. These frozen yogurt pops are beyond delicious. I used the coconut/vanilla blend yogurt because it's what I had on hand but all you taste is pumpkin pie so I don't think it really mattered. They taste good without the SweetLeaf liquid Stevia but let me tell you with just a few drops of it, they taste GREAT! I just love the fact that they're packed with 12 grams of quality protein! Now that you can't beat!!! Oh yeah, I found the ice pop molds in Walmart at the end of the ice cream case for those who may not have any. The brand is goodcook (see pic).

    Pumpkin Pie Frozen Yogurt Pops
2 Scoops Inspire Pumpkin Pie Protein powder
½ cup Premier vanilla Protein Drink
3 – 5.3 oz. Dannon Toasted Coconut Vanilla Greek Blends Yogurt
    ¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon
5-10 drops SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia - Pumpkin Spice (optional)

Blend all ingredients (I used my Nutribullet) and pour into ice pop molds. Place in freezer for 2-3 hours then enjoy!

MariaVSG got a reaction from Manuel Lopez Ganoza in Gastric Sleeve to MGB in 18 days
Hola Manuel! I had my VSG back in November 2011, lost about 52 lbs and a year later I got pregnant with baby number 2. I gained every single pound back during pregnancy. Is been 2 years since my baby was born and I'm about 6 lbs shy of reaching my pre-op. I am devastated! I have GERD, hypertension and I'm pre diabetic. My doctor said there is nothing to do and suggested gastric bypass. Reading your post gives me some hope. I am very scared of another procedure that seems a lot more drastic than the vertical sleeve. I'm happy to see you are doing well.
    Greetings, Maria.

Hi! Sorry about my writing/grammar, English is not my first language.
I had a sleeve gastrectomy done on April 25 2015. Things went wrong after surgery, I couldn't drink enough fluids, I couldn't´t sleep and I regurgitated every and all the night. I ended up in the ER on may 10, and on may 13 my bariatric surgeon did a Mini Gastric Bypass. I´m a few days post-op but I feel much better, I can tolerate Clear liquids and my progress is steady an headed to recovery.
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself to the group, I have been studying a lot about the MGB, I´m an M.D. so I think it helps. I have a couple questions for the experts:

    1.-Sleeve gastrectomy + MGB = better results?
2.-What do you think about juicing....I´m thinking about buying a Nutribullet and use it for Breakfast

MariaVSG got a reaction from Febi135 in After VSG do you have pregnancy cravings & gain weight like a normal pregnant woman?
I'll answer the same way kgremmy did.
*What are the major differences in pregnancy before and after the VSG procedure?
None at all. ( I was sleeved in November 2011)
*Did you have weird cravings? It seems like you would not because the Ghrelin is gone.
Nope. Never had craving with my first pregnancy (before VSG) and neither had cravings with my second pregnancy (after VSG). I just wanted to eat all the time. Probably because can't eat much in one sitting.
*Did you gain a lot of weight? Was it a struggle to gain the weight?
Gained a ton of weight! 55lbs. Wayy wayy wayyyyyyyy too much. I voiced my concerns to my doctors, but they said it was ok and didn't seemed concern about it
*Were you nauseous? more than normal.
    Not at all
*Were there any concerns about taking in enough food for the baby?
Never, I was constantly hungry and believe that's the reason why I gained so much weight.
    *Anything else noteworthy?
Yes, eventhough I had no weird cravings I did want to eat the "comfort food" You should just snack as much as you want, but stick to veggies and fruits and nuts.
*It is strange but I can't seem to fine a lot of information on this topic. I just want to make sure I am prepared...*
I know, I fell the same way. I had my baby 3 months ago. Healthy little boy. I lost 30lbs within the first couple of weeks. I still have to loose other 25lbs to be on my pre-pregnancy weight. It is not coming off, but to be honest I have not gone back to eat the weight I was eating before and I have not resume my excesice routine. I'm exhausted! (due to my fibromyalgia and also have 4 yr old and work full time).
I just took my first step into going back to my routine and started to log everything that goes into my mouth. It is a big help.
    good luck!
    Maria.

MariaVSG reacted to LilMissDiva Irene in The Basics Boot Camp
I get lots of questions regarding how to get back on track. This journey is tough, and one thing I've learned is that I'm not perfect - but if I'm going to move past that I have to figure out how to forgive myself. For me, the main factor in my obesity was my inability to overcome this. So I would give up and gain all my weight back, and even more. I cannot do this to myself!!! I have to pick myself back up and keep it moving. I didn't go through 2 torturous painful weight loss surgeries to just keep giving up. Heck no!!!
So, along my Sleeve Journey, when I noticed I wasn't doing well and needed to get back on track this is what I did:
    The BASICS BOOTCAMP:
For 5 STRICT DAYS I will eat only...
Proteins: Seafoods, Poultry and eggs, Dairies, nuts/seeds including Peanut Butter.< /strong>
    Veggies: Green only.
    Fruits: None.
    Breads/Cereals/Other Carbs: None.
Fluids: One gallon of Water (128 oz.)
    Protein Drinks (RTD or Powder).
    Avoid: Sugar and Sodium
Once the 5 days are over, I am pretty much over the Sugar Carb Demon. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate carbs! I do need them to live a healthy life and since I workout a lot it is important I have them. However, I need GOOD carbs. Whole grains, fruits, veggies... But I don't need processed sugars. White carbs, in cereals, breads, rice... etc.
Lots will do the 5 day pouch test. liquids only is simply from being threatened with my life (post op) or if I'm just feeling sick and to let my Sleevie rest. That's it.
Good luck everyone! This journey is tough, but nothing worth doing is ever easy. Xoxo
