Way to go......I am 4 weeks post-op today and down 24 pounds and so excited. I have 56 more pound to go. Happy New Year.

I didn't have to do the barium either. I was banded on December 8 and love it. I've lost 24 pounds to date (this includes my 2 week pre-op weight loss). I go for my first fill on the 10th. Good Luck

As you know, the 2 weeks pre-op diet is to shrink the liver prior to surgery. If the liver is too large there is a chance that they may have to post-pone the surgery. I was on Opti-Fast during my 2 weeks. I was able to have 5 optifast shakes per day, unlimited sugar free popsicles, jello, crystal light, water, clear liquids. I had a cup of broth in the evening. It does take time to get used to this but you have to work with it. Remember, that the rewards in the long run are worth it. Plus, post-surgery you will continue to be on clear liquid diet for 1 week, then increasing to full liquids during week two.

I am at 1 week post-op today!!! I can now go to full liquids....YEAH!!! I've had the same brusing feeling on my left side but was told it was where the port was placed. I've lost 16 pounds as of today and feel good.

Thank you!!! I just thought my word, I'm only having liquids why isn't it going down properly. I think I did try to drink too fast.

I am now 4 days post-op and I feel great. But, I've experienced this weird sensation after drinking. I will either be sitting or laying down and my mouth starts filling with saliva and I have to keep swallowing and it feels as though everything is closing in on me. Has anyone else experienced this? It only lasts a few seconds but it is very weird.

Call the surgeons office as they should have a list of providers they recommend.

3 months? I was told that I will be going once/month for the first year. My surgery is scheduled for tomorow.

Congrats!!! I'm scheduled for tomorrow at 12:15 and it seems like tomorrow will never get here.

What insurance do you have? I have BCBS and I was very lucky as my packet was sent via fax to the insurance company on a Friday at 4:45pm and I received my approval the following Tuesday at 2:30pm. I to was on pins & needles waiting for the approval. My BMI is 35.3 and my only saving grace is that I have hypertension. So, that's why my insurance approved it. I'm happy to say my surgery is December 8.

It is not fraud to "write-off" the difference between what he charged and what the insurance paid. I've worked in the medical field for 27 years as an office manager in a private practice and we do it all the time.

My surgery is next Thursday and I actually received a call from the hospital today. I owe 10% and was told by the hospital that if I could pay the entire 10%upfront then I would get a 25% discount off the amount. But, I can't, so I am just giving them $50.00 on the day of registration and waiting for the final bill.

I've been on it since the day before Thanksgiving and I've lost 6 pounds. My surgery is a week from today!

11 days to go until surgery and I am so excited! I'm still on my liquid diet and I've lost 3 pounds thus far.

Well, here I am Day 1 of the liquid pre-op diet. Yes, I know, I can't believe myself that I'm starting the day before Thanksgiving. But, oh well, I wanted to get the surgery as soon as possible. Which, BTW is on December 8. I'm so excited. So far, I've done well. I just drank my 2nd Optifast shake. They taste great. I'm drinking my water and had my coffee this morning. Will write more as the day progresses.

Congrats! I have my surgery on December 8 and I have to be full liquid for week one....I can't have anything pureed until week 3. It is funny how every physician is different.
