  1. I'm in Huntsville. I am still able to eat most anything I want. I do have an issue with any kind of meat once its reheated. And just a week ago I had my first real stuck episode on a bite of steak. Seemed to be going fine at first, but the colder the meat got, the harder it was to go down. I don't know if its all im my head or not, but the past couple weeks when it has been 95+ out, I seemed to have more restriction. Weird. This thing is definatley a learning process!

  2. Well, after 3 long months, I get my first fill today. I'm a little nervous, but I guess everyone is before their first one. My doc hasn't really talked much about the diet after, hope he covers it today. Whats everyone else had to do? I am hoping this fill will get the scale moving again. In the past month I have lost just over one pound. So close to being in the 100's...

  3. I love Ice Cubes (peppermint) by Ice Breakers. I don't really think gum is recommended though. I haven't had a fill yet, but once I do I will be giving it up. I can only imagine how bad it would be to accidentally swallow it once I have restriction!!!!

  4. I had read tons of posts on here before my surgery, all so very helpful. I did take my measurements before surgery so that when I seem stuck at a particular weight, I can measure and compare to what I started with. Its strange, but when I look in a mirror, I don't see a different body, but, looking at measurements, I know there has been change. I have not told a single soul what my numbers are, that information is just for me! I personally would have regretted not doing it. As far as your weight loss... by all means count your pre-op loss!!!! It is part of your journey! Best of luck to you!

  5. I know that many people ask the same question but just curious if others having the same problem. If you have can you share what you did to prevent weight gain till you get to the right fill level. I go in next week for first fill and follow up appt but just don't want to keep putting on weight till i get to the green zone.

Thanks and appreciate any and all thoughts :)

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and am already feeling HUNGRY! My surgeon doesn't believe in doing the first fill till 90 days post op. Don't know what it the world will happen to my 15 pound loss by then! Trying to get through on just "white knuckle" dieting!

  6. I have Stage III CKD and my GFR is in the 50's. My kidney doctor said the surgery could only help my situation! He said the food I eat will be healthier, no more soft drinks, drinking more Water, my BP would be lowered and much more! Just be sure to check with your doctor and see, as we know they all vary in their opinions and treatment plans! Good Luck!

  7. I think we have all gone through that "morning after" period. Please just believe all of us when we tell you it will get better, but it is going to take some time. Your stomach is going to be sore... like killer sore muscles. Time will fix it. As for the dry mouth, that is from the anesthesia.. chapstick is your friend. You were probably prescribed something for nausea, be sure to take it and you can always take childrens liquid Tylenol for pain. I am 2 weeks put today and feeling better everyday! You'll get there, keep your eye on the prize! We are ALL in your corner!

  8. I was banded 12/30/11 and have been able to eat a decent size portion. For example for lunch I can eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese and an english muffn. Tonight for dinner I ate grilled cheese sandwich and a few orange slices. My question is, today I went with a friend to an information meeting about wls, and the surgeon stated that with the lap band the stomach/pouch is the size of a thumb. I have had no fills yet, but am still losing weight. I have lost 32 pounds so far. Do this sound right? The size of a thumb? How much is everyone else eating?

I think that with no fill you are doing great! A half cup of food is probably 1/3 (at least!) of what you are before! And, you are making much better choices! Hope I do as well!
