    Some people just are not rule followers, but then those of us are also the ones who are not as likely to be successful with the dramatic weightloss- because we do not follow the diet prescribed by our Dr or Nut.
    I am not loosing and I am only 8 weeks out. I havent lost weight in a month.
    I think not sticking to my Dr orders from the get go set me up for failure.
    I recommend you try harder to stick to Dr orders just on the premise of being a success, not because it might cause a complication.
    If it DID cause a complication, how would you feel?

    Cons of the sleeve- It does not make you magically get skinny with out any hard work. Booo. I was dupped!!
    You still crave junk food and you still have to fight the urge to eat it. it is true you cant eat a whole box/bag, but you can still eat more than you should.
    You can't drink liquids like you used to so it is a struggle to stay hydrated.

    I've talked to my counselor about this. I liked to eat before bc of the feeling I got after eating. (i didn't realize this until after my surgery when that feeling was gone) It's hard for me to explain, but it was a nice calming, warm, soothing feeling that told me I was full. I'm sure it was a hormone/chemical release that took place and now it's gone. I've not had that feeling in over a year. Sometimes it bothers me. My counselor told me I needed to find something that will give me that feeling. (replace it) I don't know that I will. I definitely was using food for self-medication. I still find myself trying to find something that gives me that feeling again food-wise. It's lessened over time, but not completely gone yet. I hope that it will go away completely.

    My Dr said quit looking at the forums to find out if you are average He said really this will just frustrate you. So I have backed off.

    I drank alot of Water pre-sleeve and was VERY frustrated after surgery that I could not drink more Water. Now at 6 weeks out, I am able to drink water alot better tho nothing like before surgery. But it is a satisfying amount.
    The reason I could not drink more water is due to restriction, my water did not slide right thru, I must have a tight duodenum. ( the muscular stricture that lets food go to the intestines after the stomach)
    I did drink with meals after surgery - just a few sips - I do not think it makes my food go thru faster but I do notice that it limits how much I can eat. Since it takes up space in my sleeve I can fit much less real food in if I drink at the same time.
    I still do drink a small amount when I eat most times. Its the only way I can get in all the water my body needs.
    I do stop drinking 15 or 20 mins before meals if want to be able to get a good amount of food in.
    If I drink right after a meal, and I filled my sleeve with food to the top, then when I take a few sips of water they sit in my esophagus and I have to burp them back up over the sink because it is uncomfortable. I have never had this happen with food, which i think is what people mean when they say "the slimes"- because even when I spit up just water - alot of saliva comes up with it and it is very gooey and slimey!! Yuk.

    I eat what I want when I want. I love rice and potatoes, but don't really find myself eating bread. maybe 3 or 4 times in 5 months. I do eat a lean cuisine meal. I have lost 76 pounds in 5 months, and i have not started excersizing yet...which i will start at 6 months. My intake of fluids has gotten much better and my dizzy spells happen less frequently. I don't count calories. i can't stress about anything because life is already stressful enough. I just do what I do. I know the last 55 to 60 pounds will come off when I start working out. I am 215 now. i feel better about my body and do not find myself crying anymore. Today I ate chicken chill - yum! 2 cups, 400 calories, 40 grams of protien and the rest who cares. I eat when I am hungry. I try to eat Protein, but sometimes I want some mashed potatoes. We ate so much food before. I mean so much! I went to Olive Garden ordered the chicken alfredo. When the bread sticks and salad came I had 1/2 a bread stick and two small servings of salad. when the food came i had 2 bites of chicken and one bite of Pasta. i was done at that point. i didn't even eat the left overs. I used to eat 3 breadsticks, two bowls of salad, a fruity drink, chicken alfredo and dessert. and then have another meal later. the sleeve saved me from myself. i was an overeater. so i don't think my couple bites of carbs or bread and butter are going to make me fat again.

    I am almost 4 months post op and I have lost 72 pounds! All my pants are very loose and baggy (AKA "droopy drawers"). My "before" pair of jeans are a size 26. I could barely zipper them and now they almost fall off! So I was poking around in the back of the closet and found a pair of size 28 jeans, and I giggled to myself and thought it would be fun to try on them on and see just how small I had gotten...well...they were so tight I couldn't zip them!!! I was devastated! ARE YOU KIDDING ME????!!! I don't fit into size 28? Now intellectually I had control. All the rest of my pants were too big and I had just bought a perfect fitting size 22, so I knew that these pants were running small, mislabeled, or both. But emotionally...that was a different story. I kind of lost it and went into a tailspin. "See, even this stupid sleeve isn't working, I am a fat pig, I will never lose weight" Etc...etc... and then came the emotional eating, I made a Peanut Butter and fluff sandwhich on white bread and promptly started to chow down, but then something wonderful happened...restriction...I COULD NOT eat the entire sandwhich. I couldn't overeat, I had to stop, I was full. And that is the beauty of my sleeve. It stopped me from emotionally eating and I had to think about what I was doing. So I threw the sandwhich away, got up and put the jeans back in my closet and decided they will be my next goal, to fit into those jeans, whatever size they may be!

    Well, yes ... my great metabolism was doing such a great job for me before VSG ... I would hate to sabbotage that!
