  1. Research doctors in your area, check your insurance coverage, attend free seminars, attend support groups, more research. Generally get your "ducks in a row". Start documenting weight loss efforts, check with your PCP, get your BMI, read everything you can about the types of bariatric surgery, think about who you will tell, find support... Whew!!!!!
  2. Congratulations!!!!! Yours was the first post I read this early morning, and it was inspiring!!!!
  3. Thank you! I am " in the process". I am going for the pre op consults.
  4. Has anyone had experience with this surgeon with NY Bariatric Group? Thank you!
  5. can someone tell me if either or both of these programs allow you to customize for calories, protein, carbs, etc.?
  6. My MD puts patients on mushy first. I guess this works. We'll see.
  7. I am looking forward to seeing the dietician and have lists of questions going.....
  8. My MD puts patients on mushy immediately post op. So, thank you for these suggestions! I especially like baby banana added to smoothies!
  9. I am going to have single incision... I like the name spider better! Much cuter!
  10. I , too, thought I was at the wrong site! But now I love it! Much brighter and less"hospital- like colors"!!!!
  11. Was curious about this as Weight Watchers went to computerized recording when I was attending. Can't they send your actual weight records, not just that you paid?
  12. I have not been banded yet, but would colace be helpful? It is a stool softener, so I am not sure....
  13. Oh, canned chicken! I used to love that as a child. I am not banded yet , in evaluation and consult process. Now I can look forward to canned chicken!
  14. For DD bras that are cute and pretty, Lane Bryant, Women Within, and Just My Size.I like the yoga pants idea and hope I can wear them after banding. I always thought they were very cute but they never had my size! I agree with the ideas about buying pieces as you need them. Also looking forward to shopping in my own closet for the years of cute and pretty things that I couldn't wear!
  15. I have told only my husband. No one needs to know. I have not been banded yet. I plan to tell anyone who asks that I am seeing a dietician and ramped up my exercise program.
  16. I think it is really important to seriously consider who you tell about the decision to get banded. I have only told husband. No one else will know. I just don't want to deal with the questions and comments. It really is no one else's business, anyway.
  17. Someone mentioned that you can't "un-tell" , the decision to be banded. I have only told my husband. Work will think I am on vacation. No one else needs to know. Medical matters are protected by privacy laws, so there is no need to tell work.
  18. Congratulations! How long will you stay in Ohio? Will you get your aftercare visits in Alaska? Good luck.
