  1. Failed first sleep study. Just couldn't get comfortable. I prepped for the second, sleepy time tea, nyquil, benadryl, Tylenol pm, light dinner, little liquids.... Slept with the mask CPAP and diagnosed with sleep apnea. Sleep md recommended CPAP, should get it soon, seeing surgeon today to set surgery date!!!! Can't wait, excited and nervous....
  2. Depending on your state laws, cigna may HAVE to cover weight loss surgery. Check the legislation in your state. I know that in New York, insurance companies are required to cover it. They may make you " jump through hoops", but in the end it will be worth it.
  3. I wonder if she ever considered weight loss surgery? She seems like she might be a candidate.
  4. Sounds like there is more than food as an issue here. Does your doctor's practice offer counseling?
  5. One pound of anything, weighs one pound. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat.
  6. Don't forget, Monday is a holiday!
  7. Thank you for that great information. I hope to be banded by February.
  8. Just tried the Unjury chocolate and it was delicious!!!
  9. I am planning a vacation in July and want to know how much people have lost after banding. Thank you.
  10. Soooo glad you posted!!!! I will have a surgery date next week and my eating is out if control!!! I had to buy a new winter coat , new work pants and worst of all.... New underwear!!!!!! I kept wondering why I was so uncomfortable and realized that my underwear was too tight! I just ordered enough to get me through a few weeks. My plan is to start protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner emphasizing fresh fruits and veggies. Can't wait to be banded!!!!
  11. Has anyone tried Unjury cheese sauce? People rave about it. I have the Unjury vanilla, chocolate and the chicken soup and will be trying them in the next couple of days.
  12. Am going to order this for post op period. Thank you!
  13. So glad the site is back!!! I was going into withdrawal!!!!
  14. Many "ah-ha" moments. Others don't want to sit next to you on trains, buses.Caught a glimpse of myself in store windows. Even your underwear is tight. High blood pressure, pre-diabetes. Hard to walk up stairs. Skin rashes due to excess fat, swollen legs. Not wanting to be photographed.Avoiding social situations, even close friends weddings and funerals. Being the biggest one in your circle. Getting close to 300 pounds. Huge ah-ha moments......
  15. A pound is a pound, muscle, fat, feathers, bricks.
  16. I have cigna and they required th 6 month documented medically supervised weight loss attempts.
  17. My COE MD requests a cardiology consult, pulmonologist and endocrinologist. The cardiologist did EKG, echo, dopplers of carotids , abdomen and legs and bloodwork. The pulmonologist did pulmonary function tests( Diagnosed with asthma, put on inhalers), and sent me for a sleep study. I go back for repeat PFT's. Haven't seen the endocrinologist yet, but that will probably mean blood work. Then it's psych and nutrition, then a date for surgery...... Oh, yes, I almost forgot, letter from PCP stating the need for surgery and documentation of 6 months supervised weight loss attempts...... Luckily I have insurance coverage......
  18. Tofurky!!!! Check out Dr. Neal barnard's 21-day Kickstart. Advocates vegan lifestyle. It is very easy to be a vegan. Just requires commitment and reading.
  19. If it happened to me that many times...... I'd remove the tongue ring. Why take the chance?
  20. Thank you!!! Very creepy. Will report if it happens again.
  21. I got a request from a "lindababy". Also, poor grammar/spelling. Said they were interested in my profile!!! My profile says nothing!!!! Lap band forum moderators ........
  22. I had a really hard time at my sleep study. No problem falling asleep at home, but during the study, couldn't fall asleep until around 2am!!!! Took Benadryl and alleve and that really didn't help much. No need for the CPAP, they found that I snore. A LOT!!!
  23. Public assistance offers free classes in language, GED, looking for jobs that suit your education and experience. I would start there. Start writing your resume and get help with your grammar and punctuation. Best of luck!
  24. It concerns me that your doctor says, "it's up to you"?!!! I would want my docor to give more guidance than that.
