I am from Alberta I am booked for March 2nd with the SWLC having my surgery done in Vancouver by Dr.Philip Mitchell. I m 297lbs BMI is 47. I start my pre-op diet Feb 16th. I'm excited and scared at the time.
I keep telling my-self I need to eat to live, not live to eat. Silly but I'm starting to believe it now.

Hello I have been on here since Nov 2011 but I didn't introduce my-self. I live in a small town in the east part of Alberta, I am going to be banded on March 2nd in Vancouver through the surgical weight loss centre by Dr.Philip Mitchell. I am going to be 35 at the end of the month I weigh 296lbs I'm 5foot 6 inch which gives me a BMI of46 something if I remember correctly.
I have been really excited, until just the past few days as I keep looking at you tube stuff on lap band vs the sleeve, I'm not sure if I'm making the right choice.. I sure hope so.
I have found my_self eating like crazy thinking this will be the last time I may have it. I start my
pre-op slim time drink on Feb 16th.
anyways I just need to stop dwelling on it and just go with the flow.

I was hopping for Dec 16th but by the way things look it will be later than that. We are waiting for our referral letter from our doctor. Then we got to submit everything. But either way covered or not we are going to book it just have to wait to hear.

I tried making an appointment with the local hospital for two days. Today I just decided to go there and actually make the appointment face to face since they were not picking up the phone. I found out the waiting list is 3-4 months long. I could go to another hospital with a shorter waiting time but that is too far in my opinion. Anybody else on a waiting list for their first appointment?
wow that's not bad here in Alberta, Canada its 2-3yrs for Alberta health to cover it, if you want it done sooner you would have to pay for it on your own.

Hello I live east of Edmonton, Alberta. I am in the process of becoming banded. Mostly waiting on insurance to see what or if they will cover any of the costs for my husband and I to get the lap band done. We are wanting to have Dr. Philip Mitchell out of Calgary,AB perform the surgery which he does it in Vancouver,BC.
Anyone have any advise with the insurance process, did insurance cover yours, I have standard life and my husband has Desjardins so between the two we got our fingers crossed. Alberta Health said they cover some of the fees which really help, but with us both getting it done at the same time the costs are double.
Any other advise anyone is willing to share it would be greatly appresiated.
Thanks a bunch.
