    60 Pounds Gone!

Just thought I would post in the blog. Haven't posted in a while. Today I weighed and I am down 60 pounds! Very pleased considering I had failed at every diet out there. I will say the band is not an easy way out, it definitely requires a mindset change and lots of committment. I will say though that having support from family is the best thing ever too. However, I don't think I have support from my dad. He's never really been around and when I do talk to him on the phone it was always a lecture about my weight. Well I talked to him the other night and he says to me..."you havent given up have you??...I'm like on what? And he says to me "on losing weight". He says he hasn't seen a picture of me for a couple of weeks and so he was checking to see if I have given up. Are you serious? A couple weeks he hasn't seen a picture of me and he thinks that??? Needless to say I was a little crushed by his comment. I wanted to scream to the heavens...I have lost almost 60 pounds in 3 and half months for goodness sake! Some people are never happy I guess! Well enough about him even though it did take me a few days to get over his comment because then I would just look at myself and begin the doubting part. But today I am better, the scales moved again downward of course and I couldn't be happier. This journey so far has been incredible and I don't regret the band one bit. Well, that's enough rattling on for me for now. Hope everyone has a great day and good luck to all of you as well!
  5. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed reading your post!

    60 Pounds Gone!

Thank you all for your comments. It does hurt when family makes "fat" comments. But we can overcome them and be the stronger person. No secrets here really to the weight loss. Just stick to the plan, but I never have bread, pasta, rice or potatoes. I keep to less than 40g of carbs per day and more than 70 g of protein. That's what has worked for me. I use myfitnesspal.com to keep track of everything. I do need to exercise more, just trying to find the time! No excuse I know, but before I know it the day is over! Good luck to you all! This is a great journey!

    Self Acceptance

You are just beginning this journey and you will succeed. You have already taken the first giant step to do that. Unfortunately our society makes the overweight feel bad and unaccepted. We can choose to let them make us feel that way or we can choose to be the "bigger" person. No pun intended. Your self confidence will return as you start to see the changes your body will take from here on. Your going to do great! Best wishes to you!

    Dr. Paul Stewart - Sleeve??

Only the band, but he is an excellent doctor!
  10. I try to eat less than 40 grams of carbs per day. The best thing to do is ask your dietician. I have found they are all different and want you to do different things. I have stuck with <40g carbs and >70g of protein per day, it's what works best for me. Good luck!
  11. I can also feel my port under my skin and find myself rubbing it as well...lol. And it does bulge somewhat. I think it is something some of us have to deal with as my Dr. is not concerned about it and he has no trouble accessing it whatsoever.
  12. It's been 3 1/2 months and I've lost 56 pounds! Feeling good!

  13. I had my surgery Dec 9, 2011. I have had 2 fills with the most recent one March 15. It seems since then I haven't seen the scales move much at all! Feeling a little frustrated and scared this thing is going to stop working. My starting weight was 327 and now I'm 271and I'm also down from a size 26 to a 20. I see results but after losing weight and then not seeing the scale move for a few days is so frustrating to me. Has this happened to anyone else?
  14. 47 days Post-op and I'm down 36 pounds!

    2 Weeks Post-op

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote on here. Just been trying to concentrate on eating right, getting in my protein, protein, protein! I have found the only protein shake I can tolerate is the Muscle Milk light in chocolate. Only 100 calories, 5g of carbs, and 15g of protein. I will admit since I am into the mushy/soft stage that I have been worried about eating "food" again and not losing weight anymore. Then I have to slap myself back to reality and realize what I am eating now is in no way comparable to what I was literally shoveling in my mouth a month ago. I have been able to measure my food and feel satisfied with hardly anything to eat and it's unbelievable to me how I ate before surgery. I mean I literally just shoveled food in my mouth and would never be satisifed. Now don't get me wrong there have been a few days I have said to myself "what have I done?!" It's only been two weeks and some days I can see that I have lost weight and inches and then I put on something else another day and I see the same old fat ass in the mirror and I am so pissed off. (excuse my language). But I think all this is normal??? I hope so anyway. I have been so used to seeing myself in a bad way....overweight and fat. I just have to take a deep breath and tell myself the weight didn't come on overnight, it's not gonna go away overnight. I have to trust the scales, not the mirror. Anyway, other than all that I am feeling great! I am walking, and riding a bike, and swimming! How exciting! I am down 32 pounds and you would not believe the world of difference it has already made in my knees and my back. I can actually walk without pain. Love, love, love that! Well I guess that's about it for now. I will check back with you all again soon. Meanwhile, I'm happy in bandland! Have a great day!
  16. you probably got a shot of heparin in your stomach before surgery...do u remember where they gave it to you in your stomach? That can cause bruising and for a longer period of time than a normal bruise.
  17. Quite frankly I do find your comment offensive and rude. You have no right to judge me and what I may or may not be feeling. I have in no way strayed from from my eating plan per my physician and nutritionists orders. My comments on here asking about suggestions were only to inquire as to see if other people have come up with creative ways of making the food stages/phases more tolerable. I am not seeking to have more food than allowed and trust me education is key especially prior to making a decision to have this surgery in the first place. If you have misinterpreted any of my posts then that is your own problem, but you shouldn't blast people for posting on here and inferring that they are uneducated or misinformed about the proper nutrition phases and how important they are. Sometimes people can find creative ways of eating full liquids and with so many people on here Im sure not everyone eats the same ol same ol and they mix it up a little to share the experience. I was not insinuating that I wanted to skip stages or eat more food. Please take your "concern" elsewhere.

Where To Begin....3 Days Post Op I Guess

I am day 6 post-op and I am feeling better each day. My incisions too were the least of my worries compared the pain at the port site. I still have a dull pain, feels like bruising at the left side of my stomach when moving around. Its just weird. I have had no nausea/vomiting and tolerating the liquids fine. I am on full liquids now until day 14 then can go to pureed/mushy stage. Yea for tuna salad and chicken salad with light mayo! In the first few days after surgery I was definitely second guessing the whole thing but I admit it has gotten better. Good luck to you!

    5 Days Post-op

Well day 5 is almost over. Rode in the car today for the first time since surgery. I am still pretty tender in the area where I believe my port is. Hopefully this is normal. Some bumps and turns were a little painful. Walked around the mall some. Now Im home resting after having my dinner. 1/2 cup of blended chicken soup and 2 tsp of creamed potatoes. So full dont even want to think about food. My follow up appointment isnt until the 27th and I have scales here at home but not sure if I trust them or not. Dont want to get my hopes up! All in all I feel better, my knees arent aching. Just wish the pain in my left side would disappear! Its more annoying than anything. and I think from trying to baby that side it has made my back hurt on the right side. I think thats it anyway. Got two 8 ounce protein shakes down today. Felt good about that. Hopefully Im on the right track. Time will tell!
  20. I'm day 5 after surgery and have kept all liquids down, even cottage cheese and runny oatmeal. What can we eat??? Any suggestions??
  21. From what I have seen on here every doctor has been different with preop diet and post op diet. I am day 5 and do full liquids but it includes creamed soups and cottage cheese. it says day 7 i can go to mushies. which include scrambled eggs tuna salad light mayo refried Beans, Peanut Butter. So as u can tell everyoone is different.
  22. Thanks guys! Yes my surgeon gave me guidelines but I was looking for some suggestions to change it up a bit. Im full liquids right now with creamed soups, cottage cheese, etc...
