  1. Blood clots are a real danger after any surgery, but I think I've only seen one person here who had them. I believe you are out of the woods after a month, but double check with your surgeon. I think the risks also change depending on other factors, such as whether you smoke, your age, and your weight.

    burping and barfing

You may want to contact your surgeon for this one. You can get extremely dehydrated quickly if you are vomiting a lot. I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this!!!
  3. Hi Pasquini, Great to have another sleeve pal, I'm glad you came out of lurker mode! This CRACKED ME UP!!! : "I hold my gut and say, yeah, I so get that, If I could just gain 5 more lbs I'd be so happy, right where I need to be" I'm so using this response the next time a skinny mini complains about their 5 lbs.... Sending you the best luck when you get sleeved! It's been such a useful tool for me (62 lbs in 4 months!)!!!!
  4. Thanks for sharing your beautiful story. I hope you inspire lots of people to take the plunge and try the sleeve (especially for those of us who aren't twenty-somethings :-)). Very inspirational, indeed!!!

    Take vitamins all at once?

I think it's actually better for absorbing them if you take them two times a day. My nutritionist has me taking mine with 2 separate meals. I take mine with breakfast and lunch, usually.

Easter Sunday - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I like the idea of father's day being the next goal. I think July 4 is also a good date.

I have to admit I just started exercising

You can also try swimming or the recumbent bike. I have knee issues and I use those (and I still have 90 lbs to lose, so you are in better shape than me :-)). But, also a good idea to check with your doc for suggestions.

  11. Hey there! Just checking in. How have you been? I've upped my workouts, and my weight loss has finally picked up a little. How are you doing?!!

  12. That sounds very frustrating. I know that I get the best restriction when I am eating mostly protein. I would suggest trying to stick to protein as much as possible. It should give you better restriction, and it should also help with the insulin resistance. Also, definitely talk to your surgeon if you can and find out what size bougie he used.
  13. Hey there! Don't worry about asking questions... EVERYONE has a million questions before surgery and everyone is scared! Regarding the food I can eat. So far, there hasn't been anything I can't tolerate. There are a few things that go down better if there is sauce to make it more juicy. For example, when I eat chicken I usually make a yogurt sauce to dip it in. I also sometimes make Soup, and I eat the broth first, and wait a little bit before eating the solids--chicken is pretty tender when you cook it this way. As to your question about the number of calories, I'm not sure. The lowest I ever went before surgery was 1200 calories. Maybe your surgeon can give you some advice on this one.... As to the liquid diet, I had no problem with it, other than getting really bored and craving something savory. I ate a lot of Protein drinks and prayed for the mushy phase :-). I'm sure you could probably drink a latte (although we were told to stay away from caffeine early out, so I'd go with a decaffeinated latte maybe :-))I hope that helps! If it makes you feel any better, none of the things I was afraid of happened. I've had a really easy experience, and my restriction has been good, but I haven't had any of the typical problems that bandsters have like sliming, vomiting, and feeling stuck.... I hope that helps! Best of luck to you!
  14. I am so glad you are feeling better! You should be very proud of your accomplishment! I think sometimes we get scared that we aren't going to lose all of our weight when we aren't losing quickly or when we hit a stall, but just trust that you are doing just fine!!!! :-)
  15. Wow, I'm so sorry you are going through this! I hope you keep working with a psychiatrist to find the right medications for you. I've heard that finding the right combination can take some time, so if your first try isn't working, you can definitely try another!! Also, please don't beat yourself up. You are suffering enough without adding shame and blame to the situation. I'm sure if you could have avoided the situation you are in, you would have. Please have some compassion for yourself! Sending you big cyber hugs!

    Undergrad reunion coming up...

This story reminds me of this experience I had in college when I was a foreign exchange student. I lived in Paris in a house with a French couple and their cute kid. However the father was a real douchebag. When his wife was out of town, he would invite his friends over and they would get drunk and make denigrating remarks about us (me and the other foreign exchange student) in French.... as though we couldn't understand! Which is really stupid considering that we were there to study the language! It was awful, humiliating, and infuriating, and I'll never forget it. The guy was in his 30s and he was going out of his way to insult 18 year old kids. Now that I'm older, I just think he must have been so pathetic to pick on kids that way. I think anything that can be done to bring down general douchebaggery should be done! I like AutumnLily's suggestion!!! Bring him down a notch or two!

    Hospitalized

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this, and so sorry to hear that you have to wait until Monday to get some resolution. I do know that someone here had a problem with slow emptying, but I'm not sure how they fixed it. I am sending you big hugs, and I hope your family takes good care of you until you can see your surgeon!

Many congratulations on your success!!! It's great to hear how good you are feeling!
  20. So, I ran into this thread a little while back, and at the time I was walking for exercise. Since then, I've moved on to the elliptical trainer and exercise classes, and OMG, my hunger is soooo much more now!!! I can't believe how hungry I've been! I'll just stick to my program, etc, but I am a little bummed to be getting so hungry!!! I'm hoping that my body is just adjusting to the increased exercise....

    Constant burping

I burped like crazy during the liquid srage, It went away, I think after a few weeks. It didn't last too long! Just take solace in knowing it'll get better! One thing that I did which helped was I let my Protein shakes sit for a while before drinking them. It helped to bring the burps down!

    Mini Donuts - Eggface Rocks!

I just tried the breakfast bites! Love them! Two of them are 7 grams of protein. Yums!
  25. My surgeon told me I wasn't eating enough protein, so I upped it, and I got in 90 grams today!
