no more restriction after second fill?
sunshine412 replied to TO-Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any time. I just got my first fill and im doing so much better. Im watching every little thing that i eat. My surgeon is neurotic about me... he treats me like im a work of art. He said "im going to be very stern with you. Im not going to rest until you have lost every lb of extra fat on your body..." -
4 months? I have only been banded for a month.... im noticing a big change all ready. I think thats the hard part... realizing that the surgery isn't an instant transformation... that it takes time for the weight to fall off... i cant believe it... im watching a new person emerge

What if i dont want to diet?
sunshine412 replied to Stephleupagus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What i have found is that alot of what i can eat when i want to cheat is based on how much i chew. The more cc's you get in your band, the easier it is for something to get stuck. Its a horrible feeling... the more cc's you have, the worse it feels. At 1 cc in my band, i could drink something and wash it down. Now, it takes me several large sips. Then u swallow air and now your really in hell. And the feeling is just prolonged. Im def slowing it down and eating less... i love pizza, but i know i cant fit down all of the dough. So i just eat the cheese, and a part of the crust and im good -
I had a diet coke addiction prior to surgery. Knowing that i could cause myself physical harm by drinking it has kept me away. Im a high risk patient so failure is not an option. Its tough but im slowly doing what i need to do

I feel your pain. Its taking me some adjusting and alot of mental change/coaching. BUT what i did realize is that i would have never made these changes had i not been banded. Im doing a little better every day... -

-
I got my first fill this morning. I now have 4 cc in my band. Im down 10 lbs in a month with out exercise. Starting back at the gym this week. One dr praises me then my surgeon says im still at ground zero! So what can i eat now? Im clueless and feeling like a failure.

Struggling 1 month post op....
sunshine412 replied to sunshine412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My last apt with my dr prior to surgery was oct 10th. Between that date and nov 20th i pigged out and gained between 10-15 lbs. He yelled at me for that. So it shows a zero lb loss even though i lost everything that i gained... plus i havnt been working out. My dr doesnt know im a hard core gym goer so my next apt should be a proud one -
no more restriction after second fill?
sunshine412 replied to TO-Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, everyone has told me not to expect too much until ive had a few fills. My biggest challenge is not drinking a half hour before and after and the carbs... and no change in cravings -
no more restriction after second fill?
sunshine412 replied to TO-Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
True story. I just got my first fill so i have 4 cc in my band. I can still eat just about everything. My dr told me to go cold turkey on carbs and sugar... even a little bit and ill crave it. Still taking appetite suppresants... i have decided to go back to square one. Taking it one meal and one day at a time, one choice at a time... -
In general, you may not realize it... but its so easy to over do it. Take a day or 2 and just chill... dont get out of bed, have a movie day. Uninterupted rest goes a long way!

Im a month out and my port area is still sore.... i bent over too much too soon. My dr told me today that thats normal.

NEWLY BANDED!!! FINALLY!!! NOW WHAT???!
sunshine412 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I was banded nov. 20th. I've lost about 15 lbs so far. Learning how to work with this band. My head wants me to eat much more than I can physically handle. Learning how to deal with what I used to be able to eat and what I can eat... Im wondering how the fills will help. Trying hard to stick to the guidelines. Looking forward to working out again! Really going at it 100%... enjoying all of the compliments but realizing that I need to change something... my mind. My self esteem is in the gutter. Also trying to detach my brain from my stomach. If I go to a restaurant and order, I automatically box up 3/4 of the meal and take it home, then eat the remainder. How much do the fills help? How much does excercise help? A note on my excercise habits: I'll probably be at the gym every day. I just want this to be over (being fat lol). I welcome all of your advice and help.... -

CHEZNOEL- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR ADVICE AND HELP!!! My advice for that aweful person that posted... if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I take alot of bull at my job and i get alot of constructive criticizm. Its hard to take, but in the end... it ultimatley makes us better. So, here is the polite response: "Thank you for correcting me and making me better." I find that when i hear something i dont like, im fired up... only to reflect and get the moral of the story. Some times what we need to hear isn't what we want to hear. BUT its just as hard to dish it as it is to receive it. -
so excited!!!

You ladies are going to hate me. I feel like i have had surgery on my skin, but nothing done to my stomach. I am sore... but i havn't thrown up, not much restriction... no nausea, no burping... i can't wait for my first fill. I wont be able to eat solid food until dec. 22nd. But, im ashamed to admit... i have had small pieces of turkey. Ive lost 10 lbs already. Getting stir crazy in this house
