    Dec.28 Pre- Op Diet?!?!

Hi, I am new too. I started my Pre-op the Monday after Thanksgiving. It is hard. I've seen a lot of posts where people deal better after the first couple of days, but I've felt better the last couple of days. I do three Labrada lean body shakes a day. I drink broth if I am having hunger pain. Recently, I started making a mini salad wrap with 1 piece of lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, a few spinach leaves, one radish, and a laughing cow cheese and eating that around 4:30 or 5:00 because that was my hungriest time. I went Christmas shopping over the weekend with some family. We were all starving by the end of the day. They ended eating at Outback after pleading with me to tell them where to go (that I would be most comfortable not eating). I was tired and hungry, but I sat in the car drank my shake and ate my mini wrap. Good Luck! I'm sure you can do it.
  2. I've been on the preop diet since Monday. I started two days early to combat Thanksgiving meals. I has been really difficult. The first day I was all hyped up to start, so it wasn't that bad. The toughest thing is just wanting to chew something. I am on three Labrada Body Lean shakes a day. I have a cup of broth in between when my hunger spikes. My paper didn't specifically say I could have broth but it said choose sugar free water flavors, and I just assumed broth is a sugar free water flavor... My minimum water intake is 64 oz, but I usually get in a gallon. My hardest times are watching food commercials (I never noticed just how many come on during commercials breaks). Second hardest thing are when other people in my office are bringing in fast food, and using microwave to heat up their lunch. I wish my diet included a high protein/low carb meal, like chicken and broccoli. I think just having some actual food to eat would help. I don't actually crave sweets or carbs, it's proteins like chicken, tuna, or beef.
  3. Thanks. My date is 12/14/11. That was beautiful, I will definitely be borrowing this prayer.

    Hello, Everyone! First Post

Thanks Everyone! I called on 10/25 to make an appointment. Had an initial consultation with the surgeon's PA and first nutrition appt on 10/31/11. I had my Upper Endoscopy on 11/4/11. PA told me I could pick a date first week of Dec, but that I may want to push it back a little so I wouldn't be on Pre-op diet during Thanksgiving. That's how I landed on Dec. 14th. I go Dec 7th for second Nut. appt, Pre-op testing, and meet with Surgeon again (meet him initially at Endoscopy).
  5. Hello, Everyone. I've been reading this board for over a month now, and I really appreciate all the helpful information. My surgery date is Dec 14th. I started my pre-op diet today, and so far so good. I had been considering surgery for a while and finally got the courage to make an initial consultation in Oct. Because I am self pay, I could pretty much pick my surgery date. I go for pre-op testing on Dec 7th. I look forward to your support!!!
