Now I Just Feel Like a Failure

Andi - I will be banded on Thursday, Feb 22nd and I realize that I will have to work very hard to lose this weight. I have made myself a promise that my life is important and hence, my health. Pls talk with your Dr. and if this person cannot give you the support you need - switch drs and find someone who will work with you. This forum is very encouraging -- Karen's email was wonderful and so helpful. Andrea work hard and do this for yourself -- no one else. Think each time you put go to put food in your mouth. We are all pulling for you and wish you the best. Pls keep us updated with your progress. I'll let you know each week how I am doing -- we'll battle this together!!! Cutiepie

    lap bands in pennsylvania

Hello. I'm from Pgh and will get banded next Thursday with Dr. Courcoulas. It's good to see some Penns here. I'm excited and nervous but can't wait to have it done and over with.
  5. Kat thanks! I do feel better now! Even though my family is very supportive but I just wanted to see what other banders were feeling. I know things will go well and I'll do well -- my surgeon is wonderful and very caring -- its just a matter of time now -- got so many clothes I can't wear -- its a good feeling knowing I am doing something about my weight -- taking charge is a good feeling. I'll keep in touch!
  6. Kat817 -- thanks for that email. I just started in this chat room a little over a week ago -- I get banded next Thursday and wanted some insight and then as I read on, started to worry about the problems and issues people were having. I know this is a good thing and I just want to have a healthy life and I am so glad you put things back in perspective. I have a "life" but want a healthier one and its good to hear that there are many who don't have problems or issues and just go on living. Your email just kept me in this chat room -- I was ready to disengage myself and do this on my own. Thank you sooo much!!!
  7. MCO Bandita -- I understand how you feel. I am getting banded next Thursday and I have had questions whirling around in my head for 2 years regarding this banding. However, just like everyone else - nothing else has worked and sometimes all we focus on are the bad things that happen. Focus on the good things. This banding will be what you want it to be. Make it work! My problem has always been quantity and now I have a "tool" to use to help me with that. So, take a deep breath -- relax and let it go for a day or two then come back to it. I love food but I love my life more and I will make this work --- so can you. Talk to your docs about all your anxiety. I'll keep you posted on how it goes for me -- maybe that will help you...

    getting banded in Feb?

Thanks Tres Chic for the encouragement! I hope all will go well. I meet with my surgeon next Monday -- so far nothing was said about a pre-op diet but she may give me more info. I will be good to feel better. Keep me posted all of you who are being banded in Feb -- let me know how you feel, etc. I'll let everyone know about me as well. Thanks again!

    getting banded in Feb?

My surgery date is Feb 22nd. Work is killing me as my boss is now nervous since I will be off for 2 weeks. My stay in the hospital will be just overnight, I'm told. I work in the hospital where I will get my banding but now I'm am just plain nervous. But as I read all the other emails -- seems its the norm to be a little bit nervous. Everyone seems to do so well -- I hope I lose 16 lbs during my liquid stage as well. All of you getting banded in Feb -- tell me how it feels. It's good having such support. Thank you all!

    No Pre-Op diet??

Hi Bluegem I will be getting banded on the 22nd of Feb and I do not have pre-op diet -- at least not yet. I meet with my surgeon on the 19th but so far I have just been told to eat light that week because my stomach needs to be empty. So I'm going to trust her and I'm doing that now -- cutting wayyyy down on my portions each day so that by the 19th I'll be eating very lightly. I'll let you know how it goes on the 22nd.
