  1. Omar responded to my email and sent the questionnaire. Some things are hard to answer - does anyone know what they weighed when they started school? (Age 5-6). I don't even know my teacher's name! How one earth do I answer that? I wasn't ever conscious of a scale until college.

I think the reason they ask these questions is to get a history of your obesity. I didn't remember what I weighed but I was a skinny kid. I got fat in my twenties. Do the best you can, they will help you.

Agreed - do the best you can. I put "unknown - above average" for some of the responses. I remember when I started noticing I was heavier than other kids in about 3rd grade. I also remember my first grade pictures were a normal weight.

  2. What is the benefits of going to Mexic? I have a wonderful surgeon here and my insurance pays 80%

My insurance will not cover the surgery. I looked into surgery in the DFW area and Mexico. Reading all the reviews on the forums about successful surgeries in Mexico prompted me to consider going.

  3. Spironolactone hasn't worked for me. It was supposed to help with the acne and hair growth. I think it is because my doc put me on 25mg QD, and she said that she wouldn't raise it because if 25mg a day didn't work then a higher dosage wouldn't work??? Errrrrrr....

Some of my hair is blonde, some dark, but very course. I can't stand the feel. I pluck daily. I think the acne is worse for me. I had such clear skin. Never had acne as a teen either. I'm glad to hear that surgery helped. I'm looking at June 22, but I haven't confirmed it yet.

  4. I can have a sleep study done, I'm sure it woudn't be a problem. I don't think I have it though.. Or is it something I woudn't know about? I had told my Dr. a while back that I wanted one because I was so sluggish all the time, and I'd wake myself with loud SNORT's, but i haven't done that in a long time, and my energy level is okay. think it could still be a possibility? I'll totally do it if it's going to help!

I work in pulmonary / sleep medicine, and I just wanted to share my waaaaayyyy too many years of education. Most people have the misconception that you must snore loudly to have sleep apnea. While snoring and gasping for breath are symptoms of sleep apnea, there are some more subtle symptoms: headaches upon waking (lack of oxygen while sleeping), waking up to go to the bathroom (not sleeping 'deeply' enough that you wake up to go), waking up with a sore throat/dry mouth, insomnia/restless sleep, feeling tired during the day, moodiness, irritability, difficulty concentrating.

  5. This is my first post even though I've been reading here the last few months!

I am a cash pay patient and have met with two surgeons. I like both of them.

Physician 1 cost - $7999 - with six months of follow up / fills included.

Physician 2 cost - $8950 - with twelve months of follow up / fills included.

Is the extra $1000 worth 6 months of fills?
