    stall in weight loss

Just remember that stalls can be caused by your body "recalibrating" itself. If you are still getting your water in, you are sticking to your diet and you are getting your exercise... then it's nothing YOU are doing wrong, it's just your body taking some time to figure things out and make changes. Also, muscle weighs more than fat, so any exercise that's increasing your muscle mass is going to offset any fat loss. Just keep marching forwards and things will work out.

    First Stall

Dealing with a "stall" myself as well, up and down over the same few lbs, BUT, my body fat has continued to decrease, so it's been much easier to deal with, love having a scale that measures body fat as well as weight, really helps put things into perspective, sure the weight might be floating up and down around the same point, but body fat is decreasing so that "weight" is muscle conversion and the solid foods in me. Just keep moving forwards!
  4. "Sparkling water" is carbonated... which means it's a big no no.

    Any success stories?

My success story is having it removed. I had so much scar tissue built up that the removal took over 3 and a half hours!!! My revision, which should have only taken 3-4 hours total, took over 6. I had no symptoms other than having issues with certain foods, my endoscope was good, no erosion, no slippage, nothing on the swallow test or other imaging, yet my band was encased in scar tissue so badly it took the doctor 3 times longer than normal to remove. Even when everything seems fine with the band, there would be major issues at play. I also was banded in 2011. Just had revision surgery to RYN on the 21st of March. So glad I did! Everyone is going to be different, but with the number of issues constantly rising, the fact that major suppliers and manufacturers of the band are stopping production... it sort of tells its own story.

    Day 4 Post Op

Today marks Day 4 post Band to Bypass revision. Isopure Zero Carb RTDs are going down so easy, I'm getting over 40 grams of protein a day already and upwards of 60 oz of water. I'm down just over 22 lbs since the 2nd of March already. Stomach bloating/swelling is still in full effect, but other areas are clearly thinning out. The 2x daily injections still weird me out. Overall doing quite well. Each day things get just a little bit better.
  7. The protein water thing... Not finding much on it at the moment, some are brand names, others, just not finding what I would feel would be relevant to this conversion either way. Muscle Milk, is a brand name. But the definition of milk includes opaque white(ish) fluids from plants as well as from mammals. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Because legally that can't call it "water" with all the extra ingredients or the method of manufacturing. Just like Pringles aren't potato chips, they are potato crisps, because of the ingredients and how they are made. Do you call tea, tea water or coffee, coffee water, or soda, it's not soda water unless it's just carbonated water. Isopure Zero Carb is a protein drink, protein water is a thing, but Isopure zero carb isn't it. Just bugs me seeing it stated that way for a few reasons, for one, anyone searching for Isopure Protein Water, isn't going to find it because it doesn't exist. Better to use the proper name/verbiage for the sake of those that will be asking around for it. Rather than have those people sound misinformed or improperly edjucated. But,I guess that's just me trying to save people the embarrassment of being wrong in a health food store. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. It's a protein drink, it's not listed or marketed as protein water for a reason. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Can we stop calling Isopure zero carb "protein water" nowhere on the bottle does it say "protein water". I just find using the term very misleading. I have been using isopure since 2010/11 when I was banded, lovely product overall. Very helpful now that I've revised to RNY. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Isopure zero carb drinks are a life saver, thin as water and tons of protein. I'm 2 days post op, and had such a hard time with the shake they gave me yesterday, took like 15 hours to get most of a bottle down, but water wasn't nearly as bad. Now I'm home and the Isopure is exactly what I needed. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Bad cold

a salt water gargle might help
  13. There is "One Answer" for everything though... It's whatever works for you.

    Constipation

Smooth Moves herbal tea works quite well, organic and not super punishing on your system, plus, it's in water so you are getting some water intake as well!

    4 week liquid diet...

Seasonings for the veggies will save you from boredom. Check with your surgeon of course, but pretty much any salt free seasoning is typically given the thumbs up. Don't be afraid to spice things up with some added flavor!

    4 week liquid diet...

Protein shakes are best when they are COOOOLD. You really want to stay away from adding any extra calories to those shakes, so yogurt isn't a great idea pre-op. For clear liquid proteins, Isopure Zero Carb RTD are amazing. Again, best served ice cold. You can totally blend them into an thick shake using ice cubes, really ups the experience overall. Also, Protein will cook if it gets too hot, so you can "curdle" it if you try to heat it up too hot.

    Approved!!!

This actually all depends on what your insurance requires. Some require documented issues with photographic evidence, some just take the doctors recommendation. What is required is defined by the insurance company.

    home sleep test

The CPAP takes some getting used to, but there are a LOT of different styles and sizes. But, it's an important medical device, if you need it, you NEED IT. If you aren't compliant, they might not do your surgery.

    home sleep test

LOL try sleeping at a proper sleep study... leads on your head, face, arms, legs, chest straps, blood o2 sensor, unfamiliar location with a camera pointed at you.

    Bad cold

Depending on the WLS you had can change things slightly, you want to stay away from NSAIDS all together. Have you called your Surgeon's office for advice yet? For the throat issues you can use some sugar free throat drops or Cloroseptic spray. For the aches and pains, stick with Aspirin (or buffered aspirin if the normal aspirin typically upsets your stomach). But you ****REALLY**** should call your Surgeon / Doctor's office for advice on this.

    Coffee

Caffeine is what you need to watch for.... I've read that you should avoid any caffeine in any form for at least 30 days post WLS because caffeine stimulates gastric acid secretion. Which can lead to issues with healing, increased regurgitation, reflex and indigestion. That and caffeine is a dietetic, so it works against your water intake.
  23. One thing to always remember. There is only 1 person in this whole world that you have to answer to, and that's yourself. If at the end of your day, you can look yourself in the mirror and say that you did what you wanted, how you wanted and that you don't regret what *YOU* did... then you are good to go. It's not easy, by any means. But the opinions of others really don't matter if you are happy with yourself. Don't try to change you to make other's happy, be yourself at all times and if people can't deal with that... that's on them. You will find people to like you, just by being you. People do weird things all the time, make fun of people because something about that person makes them feel bad or something. People that don't / can't accept others have problems accepting themselves and are projecting. I know it's tough, my youngest is on the spectrum, leaning towards Asperger's, so his social skills are much different. He gets made fun of often because he's too smart or too odd... but he doesn't even give those people a second thought. Keep your head up, be proud of who you are and always be yourself no matter what.
  24. Never said it was good... simply that it was not a total "lose / lose" situation. Compared to every other pint of ice cream... it's a much better choice.
  25. Not sure if this was addressed and I missed it, but check out Halo Top for your ice cream substitutions, a whole pint is at max 320 calories, but it has 20 grams of protein! So it's not a total "lose / lose" situation.
