    Stressed and WAITING!!!!

I had to do 6 months of monthly check ins with a nutritionist, even though I had the band at the time... But, insurance is going to want what insurance is going to want. It's well worth the struggle, frustration and wait. Stay Strong, You got this.
  2. @kordie welcome to the stall. Happens to pretty much everyone. Just keep tracking, exercising and getting in your protein and water goals. It'll break.

    Will they postpone surgery?

More than likely they won't. My D was 10 points under minimum before surgery and no one said anything. I'm on a 50,000 IU pill a week, but, they didn't even blink an eye at it.

    Post-op severe nausea

Not sure the band should be causing nausea... have you talked to your surgeon about this yet?

    Hair loss

Rogain works to promote growth. Biotin (either ingested or topical) works to support the structure of the hair itself.

    Enough??

Here is the link to the lawsuit https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20171213e89 And there is no industry standard for "Medical grade protein" it's just a made up term they've concocted to sound more impressive than they really are, that's in the lawsuit as well. "Further, Plaintiff maintains that GenePro's marketing and packaging statement that it contains "medical grade" protein is incorrect, false, and misleading, as no industry or FDA standard for "medical grade" protein exists. (Id. at ¶¶ 23-24)"

If you could close one fast food chain

Honestly with how many issues with food poisoning they've had, Chipotle should be closed.

    GENEPRO? What's up?

There was a lawsuit and GenePro lost. Because it was found that the listed amounts of protein per serving were greatly inflated, so they were lying to people.

    After surgery

I'd ask them again, let them know your situation changed. My fear is that if you go back too soon, the weakness / light headed that can happen will be too much. Then their's the whole "not knowing how the new stomach is going to take to certain foods/liquids" etc...

    After surgery

What surgery are you having? Recovery times should have been discussed with you at some point. Depending on the surgery, and your work requirements you could go back in a few weeks. But standing for long periods of time leaving over people might not feel all that great. And most are told not to lift anything over 10 lbs or so for upwards of 6 weeks.
  11. Recovery time should be pretty much the same as it was when you had the band installed. You are going in for a full laparoscopic surgery, so you'll have all the ports/incisions that come with it. You'll be unfilled, have your band adjusted and more than likely some more sutures put in to hold it in place, and this is all barring any complications. I had my band installed in 2011 and I had ZERO physical issues, no slippage, no erosion, nothing. But when I had my revision from Band to Bypass, it took my surgeon over 3 times longer to get the band out, because it has been 100% encapsulated in scar tissue. So, you *might* not have any issues once they get inside you again... but you could have some major complications ahead like I did, even though nothing pointed to there being any real problem. To be honest, my "suggestion" would be to talk to your surgeon about revision to another WLS. The Band has just so much working against it at this point, 2 major manufactures have stopped making them, most surgeons won't even do them any longer.

    Hair loss after surgery

Not everyone will experience Telogen Effluvium, but *ANY* shock to your system, even a fever can trigger it. Biotin won't stop it, but it *might* help limit the appearance caused by the fall out. The shock of surgery, drastically reduced calories, protein, etc will cause more hair follicles than normal to enter their rest phase, Telogen. So it's not that your hair is falling out exactly, it's that a larger number of follicles have entered the rest phase than would normally do so, and with the larger quantity doing so at about the same time, it gives the appearance of thinning hair/hair loss. It does go away. By all means take the Biotin (I do) and make sure your protein levels are where they need to be at (as well as your water) and you can hope it doesn't effect you much. But hope is really all you've got. You can use rogain as well, but this won't stop the Telogen phase, it just assists in the regrowth. Nothing out on the market now, will prevent Telogen Effluvium, they only helps reduce it's appearance /effect.

    Exercise Before Surgery

Starting the habit sooner than later is going to make everything easier in the long run. Having a stronger heart and more efficiently running "system" will help, how much, that's going to be on a case by case basis, but it certainly wouldn't make things worse!
  14. Oh I do... but only because they taste disgusting! The downfalls of being a Supertaster! Do you get the same issue with eggs cooked in a different way?

    Two Days Post Op

Pain and sensitivity this early post-op is normal. Try adjusting the temp of your water to see if maybe warmer or colder water doesn't feel as heavy. You are still swollen and raw, so pain and issues with anything going into your stomach at this point is going to be normal. (to some extent)

    Don't pray for me

Kodiak Cakes has protein pancakes as well! I used to eat their muffins a lot pre-surgery, but the sugar content is a little too high for post-surgery (for me anyway). And not believing in God, doesn't make one an Atheist. That's a common religion person mistake. Atheism is just 1 believe system that does not revolve around a "God".
  17. You should straight out tell him to get away from you... or better yet, tell him he can't be around unless he's exercising as well. Get him involved! There really isn't any excuse that matters here. You can walk outside, use stairs, lift common household items for weights. Plenty of things to exercise with, without needing to go anywhere and I'm sorry, but using the excuse "I don't like to exercise when my husband is around" is pretty thin as an excuse. If you want to lose weight, you MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST exercise. The first few weeks / month does suck, there is a LOT of changes happening and it's just tough. Just keep working on your plan, stick to what you were instructed to do, make sure you are getting as much water as you can, upwards of 128oz+ a day!

    3 months post op success

    Congrats! That's an impressive change!

    How's everyone doing?

So much truth! I'd like the weight loss to be faster... BUT, I'm happy with it coming off at all. Been an odd week, gained almost 4 lbs while dropping body fat... super frustrating!

    Sleeve revision

This is going to depend on your surgeon (and maybe insurance) but, my revision from Band to Bypass required a minimum 2 week pre-op diet.
  21. You *COULD* try to pack your own pills. Get some unflavored high quality protein (to max your protein per gram of material) and then either get them online or a local supplement shop, buy some empty pill caps, whichever the largest size you can stomach is and fill your own pills. Be warned though, You'll need to take like, 15-20 000 sized pills to get all the protein from 1 scoop of unflavored powder, *BUT* if that doesn't phase you, you won't have to drink it any more.

    Motherf&*^%$

I'm right there with you on this one. In the past 4 days I've gained over 3 lbs. Lost almost 2 of that today with some "Selective, controlled dumping" (I had a cup of coffee). Weight went up, body fat % kept going down. Crazy, infuriating, stuff right.
  23. Matt Z

    Question.

EKG/ECG is a standard test pre-op. Had to have one back in 2011 for my band and had to have another one for my revision this past March.

    Insurance stuff, sooo confused

This is going to depend on your insurance. Most don't cover 100% after the deductible is met. Like mine is 80% coverage after, so after I meet the deductible, I'm required to pay 20% of whatever the charges are after the deductible. They should have spelled it out for you more clearly. For me, if the cost of a procedure is say, 10,000, and my individual deductible is 1000, then I'd be responsible for the 1000, then 20% of 9000 or 1800. So my total out of pocket would be 2800. Everything for the rest of the year now will be at the 20% of the total since I met the deductible. Some insurances have a "Max out of pocket" where you don't pay for anything after that max. Would be worth talking to your insurance company to find out exactly what your cut offs are and what you can expect after meeting them.
