confused about my transition to puree
my doc let me be on full liquids from day 3. i havent had any problems other then it hurts when i swallow anything, even water. that has been getting much better though. i have only had one bm since i had my surgery, that was on friday and it was the runs i have been "drinking" split pea soup, with the peas and the carrots and ham strained out. that is my favorite, cause it doesnt hurt when it goes down for some reason. i love the flavor too so that is a bonus. i also have fudge pops that i suck on, but i have found that i am lactose intolerant now, so i have to take lactaid first.

Forty Makeover Time?
im not 40 yet, but i had my braces on when i was 31, and im glad i did. there are so many kinds that you can get now, like the invisaline, if you only have a small problem that might be the way to go. there is also another option...its called snap on smile. you get it in two visits. its like lumineers, only about 1/5 the cost. abbout 2000, and they finance. no shaving your teeth, no pain, and no fuss. you go in for impressions on one visit...wait for about 2 weeks, then you go in for your fitting. they snap over your real teeth. you can eat with them, drink, everything. they look like real teeth, and you can even get a whiter smile with them. you can remove them like retainers, and they are all the raive right now. i have seen before and after pictures, and they are amazing. they cost less then most braces, and you get almost instant gratification, without people commenting all the time about why you have braces at your age. believe me i got that all the time and like i said i was only 31. some people can be so rude. anyways, go for fixen them, you will feel great, and look great too!

skin issues
i havent heard that one before. mabye? are you taking any other new meds since surgery, like a ppi or an anti nausea pill? you may be allergic to one of those if so. either way if it isnt to bothersome you can still take the childrens beny, or try getting some lotion that is for dry skin, with aloe in it. ps----im not a doctor, but i work in a mental hospital, where i give out medications, and deal with these things all the time with my patients, due to them changing meds all the time, and such.

Not Feeling Full yet
are you taking a ppi? ive heard that that feeling can also be from to much acid, and that it isnt really hunger. i havent had the actual feeling of hunger at all since i was sleeved on the 16th. i know when i need to eat because i feel empty, not hungry.

Pity Party
i just crush up all my pills and then put them in a little water to disolve and take them all at once. tastes nasty, but i dont have to wait hours to get them all in. as for the vitamins, i just take gummy vitamins so i can just suck on them to get them down....yummy. most meds you can crush, except for gel, and extended release. if they are capsule you can open those up and disolve them in water too. i think you said that you are two weeks out, so you can put them in applesause as well. thats what i do for my patients who have crushed meds ordered.

Boob question
im a 40 DD right now, after losing 59 pounds, havent lost any in my boobs, but when i was skinny my boobs we 32 A....very tiny. i never want to go back to that because if i do i will be able to pick up my tit and fling it over my shoulders, or when i have sex a certain way (woof woof) they fly back and hit my man in the face.....lol! i plan on getting a breast lift no matter what after i lose all my weight and if they go smaller then a C i will have gummies put in and plump those girlies back up to a D....my sister is super skinny (5'11" and 130lbs--makes me sick) and she got boobies (D's) and they are beautiful! she got the gummies and she let me feel them (nothing gross, just wanted to know if they felt real) and I totally couldnt tell the difference.

Needing somewhere to be free
Manda, Some times we have a lot of things piling up on us all at once and it feels so overwhelming that you dont think that you can ever find your way out. I know this feeling and i have had to cope with it in the past. I did go to a psychiatrist for some prescription meds to help me get balanced again. sometimes your chemicals can get a little out of wack, and it doesnt mean there is anything mentally wrong with you, but a surgery like the one that we have been through can change our chemicals around so much that it can make a big difference in the way that we think and deal with our emotions. i work in a mental hospital and have to give out these kinds of medications all the time and i see the wonderful things that they can do for people in need. know that you are not alone and sometimes you just need to speak up and let your family know what is going on. you will be surprized how much they will support you. even if you dont tell them, they probably are sencing something is wrong. there are tons of people on here that are willing to talk with you all the time, and if you really need someone to talk to we are here. i would be personally willing to talk with you one to one if you need someone just to listen to you. i am a psychiatric technician and have given therapy to many people and sometimes it helps just to have someone listen to you who doesnt have a personal attachment to your life so that they may be without bias. i hope that you take the help that so many people are willing to give you. you are loved and cared about. ---sassy

5 days post op and its getting better
my body is feeling really good. i was able to go to the park with my family today and swing on the swings with my kids. they enjoyed a picnic while i drank muscle milk and had about 3 pieces of honey dew melon (really well chewed). i felt pretty good after eating it. i think i feel so much better because i started taking vitamins yesterday along with b12. i have lost 9.5 pounds in 5 days already! i know we arent supposed to weigh ourselves but once a week but i knew i lost weight already because i was able to fit into a size 16 jeans! i just wanted to see how much. i cant wait until my check up with my nutritionist. i bet she will just be blown away. family and friends are seeing the weight loss finally. my mother in law, who never makes comments about my weight other than to tell me that im gaining weight. she doesnt like me being fat, she thinks that her son deserves a skinny wife....but thats another story. she even told my husband that she could tell that i lost some weight. (she would never tell me, but at least she said something to him) she doesnt know about the surgery because i know what she would say. anyhow......the point i was trying to make is that i feel so much better today then yesterday, and im sure i will feel better tomarrow and so on and so forth. i love this sleeve!!!!

Just need a little advice.
my doc told me to get a little med cup from the pharmacy. take a gallon of water with you wherever you go. fill the little med cup up and sip on that. finish one of them every ten minutes, and then fill it again. if you sip on one of those every ten minutes for 12 hours you will have drank one gallon of water in that time and you wont get dehydrated. he made sure to tell me not to take it like a shot but sip from the med cup. my surgery was on the 16th and i could go back to work tomarrow if i wanted to. but we all handle recovery differently. it also depends on how many incisions, if you have a drain or not and so on and so forth. most people have been taking one week off from work though and been fine with that. good luck on your surgery and keep us posted on how it goes. congrats on starting your new lives together. i think you guys will have an advantage over others because you both will be there for eachother and both know what your going through together. its hard to explain what you are going through to people that havent gone through it.

skin issues
it can be from anesthesia, it can also be from the lortab. a common side effect is itching. if it bothers you really bad you can take some childrens liquid benidryl. another is to just stop taking the lortab and try childrens tylenol if you dont have to much pain left after surgery.

Hospital stay ???'s
it depends on how well you do really. my doc usually keeps you for one day after, but he kept me for 2 days because i lived 2 hours away. some people stay 3 or even 4 days. i think the average stay is 2 days though.

Can we take vicodine?
i tried swallowing it whole and it made me feel like throwing up

getting off of the PPIs
the best way to increase bone strength is weight baring exercise. like running, fast walking and such. this will build new bone and help in that area. if you are worried that you are not getting the calcium absorption due to the acid reducers then exercise more and this will help your new bone growth. as for stoping medications it is always better to titrate down then to quite cold turkey.

Three Day sPost Surgery - Can't get anything down
split pea soup luke warm helped me. my surgery was on tuesday, and i am having a hard time swallowing anything because i get this painfull feeling afterward, like my stomach is squeezing the food back up my esophogus. not plesant at all! good luck to you hope you can handle the soup like i can. cheer up...all will get better
-
Can we take vicodine?
ps-dont take lortab in the same time frame for other pain as this is the same type of medicine and it would not be good to combine the two. figuring you are 2 months out im guessing you dont have it anymore, but i just wanted to be sure.

Can we take vicodine?
the reason motrin is a nono is that it really irritates the lining of the stomach. i took a vicodin already last night for a migrane and didnt have any trouble, and im only 5 days post op today. crush it up and add it to a little water first to help disolve it first...that way it will go right through to you intestines where it gets absorbed anyways and it wont hurt you tummy. i hope you feel better
