  1. I see the biggest difference in your face so far. I love it when the weight comes off the face first because people notice it faster. You look beautiful! Keep up the good work!
  2. When I was first starting out my RN gave me the riot act over having surgery.told me that I would most likely become a drug user or an alcoholic. They do only see the negative parts....but remember a DOCTOR is doing the surgery! If they didn't think it was healthier for you then being obese then they wouldn't be doing the surgery in the first place!
  3. It will get better with time. I am a year and 7 months post op. I really enjoy going out with the girls. You will get there...just be patient!
  4. I don't have a problem having any kind. But that might be a good thing for you...not being able to drink...there are a lot of empty calories you are avoiding!
  5. I waited 4 months...I found it helped getting highlights and low lights to add depth, and volume. I also cut it into a short bob, which helped it look even thicker and healthier getting rid of the dead ends. I waited until I hit one of my short term goals as a reward. I did this with a lot of things...25,50,75,100...and so on of weight loss. Little rewards all the way like my hair, my nails, a massage, new clothes. It made it fun along the way. Good luck!
  6. Doing great! Keep up the good work!
  7. It is very hard for people like us to accept complements on our weight, or for our appearance period. We have low self esteem, and we don't feel like we deserve to be complemented. You will get better with this as you gain more self confidence. Head up! 40 pounds is amazing btw! Congrats!
  8. I had pain, the worst was when I first woke up. My advise to you is to be your own patient advocate. The nurses and doctors don't want you to be in pain, so if a medication isn't taking the pain away...tell them, they will get you something else. I made sure to tell them when I needed pain meds, and they made sure to give them to me whenever needed. Also most of the docs set you up with a pain pump of morphine, so when you need a little extra pain med you can administer it yourself. Good luck!
  9. Drink lots of water. Keep moisturized. Exercise. That's about all.
  10. Puréed foods didn't do it for me either. Once you are eating real food you will be full a lot longer.
  11. Slimes= really horrible gross slimy saliva. It doesn't stop forever. Makes you feel like you are gonna puke. It sucks! Lol
  12. The pain meds are the key. Some people get weirded out over it....but if you take them and it helps then you are able to move better. More movement equals more blood flow...which equals faster recovery. Everyone heals differently and feels pain differently. You will do fine! Good luck!
  13. Yay! You got this! New life...here you go!
  14. Scales suck! Measure your loss by your clothes. 18 years ago I was in a size 10 at 140.... Now I am in a size 7-10 at 170. Muscle takes up way less space then fat. I didn't need to read a scale to see that I went from a size 26-24 to what I am wearing now! here's to a success story in the making!
  15. A new life...new beginning! Take all the pain meds you can get...they help you be able to move! You will do fine! Best of luck!
  16. Holly crapola! That is some crazy numbers! You go girl!
  17. My doc wanted me on low carb high protein. I pretty much try to stick with proteins....but I don't count anything. I eat meat and cheeses first...then whatever else I want and have room for. If I want something bad...I have it. Just a lot less then I used to. I make sure to exercise a lot...and most of the time eat the stuff I should...but I didn't do this to be stuck on a diet for the rest of my life. I am more then a year and a half out...and less then 20 pounds till goal. I can honestly say that I am not constantly thinking about what I am going to eat...how much...and what is for the next meal. I was so seriously obsessed with food before, and now I eat to live...not live to eat...haha vsg is great...and life is beautiful! Good luck!
  18. First of all....drink more water! This helps so much! Only going 1-2 times a week is very unhealthy. The more hydrated you are the easier it is to poop. Also having lots of water helps your skin stay moist...as well as you to flush fat easier. I wouldn't suggest laxatives...however you can take collace or dss....it doesn't make you go more often, just makes your stool softer. But the best thing to do is drink more water...lol good luck!
  19. I can fit different amounts of food...depending on what I am eating. I am able to eat anything I want...but if it is meat I can only eat about 1/4-1/2 of a cup. You will be fine...plus you are a guy, so you will drop some major pounds fast! Not fair! Girls lose slower, every time! Good luck!
  20. Stop it! No more weighing! It will drive you nuts! Lol...I know..I know! Easier said then done! Good luck!
  21. Yeah...I have watched them. Totally looks dreadful! However I want nothing more then to get rid of this skin on my tummy! I will be getting a lift and implants for my boobs too since the last 20 pounds I have lost hit my poor boobs bad. I went from a double d down to a very heavily padded d! My husband calls them flap jacks! They look like I had a balloon blown up to its ultimate max...then got popped! My surgeon suggested getting bigger ones then I want...he said he has never had a woman say she wished she got smaller implants....I said I don't want my boobs entering a room five seconds before my body does! Lol I just want them to be full and perky...and my stomach flat. I could probably fit into about 2 sizes smaller in my pants if it weren't for my skin on my tummy! But at least I can see my lady parts again! Lol
  22. I have some on my profile...as long as some along the way. I am taller then most women though 5'9".
  23. Mine went down on its own....now I need a tummy tuck bad though! Hoping to get one by the end of this year!
  24. Hey Kirk! You are so brave! This is so true. I am currently in a size 7-10 in pants and weigh 170.... The last time I was in this size I weighed 140.... Muscle makes a huge difference on how you carry your weight. I'm glad you pointed this out.
  25. It's a nice soft food. Have fun!
