    Pre-op liquid diet worries

Hello and welcome. I am currently on my 2 week pre-op diet. my surgery is on week from today...aug 16th. I work in the same field as you (i'm a psych tech) and i have suffered with hypoglycemia as well. i havent had any problems so far with this on the diet. I did get some sugar free popsicles and fudge pops as well as sugar free Jello to help me through the cravings. I'm sure the hard candy..as long as its sugar free wont be bad, but i would ask your surgeon about the juice. it might spike that blood sugar a little to much, as well as take you out of ketosis. i have been cranky on this diet, but it usually is around the times that i have to prepair food for my family to eat, and relize that i wont be able to eat anything for weeks. lol ....good luck to you, welcome again, and im sure you will do great!

    day AFTER sugery

Great info on the post op..congrats too. as far as the lap band...i was going to get the lab band, and actually went to the info meeting on that, my referal was for the lap band. I ended up totally changing my mind when i got all the facts. just make sure you are educated before making any choices.
  4. I just joined about a week ago, and my only regret is not signing up sooner. I am so thrilled to be able to communicate with others that are going through the same things as I am. I love that in every single post that I have read there has been nothing negative or derogitory at all. In a world were it is hard to find people that have kind things to say it is really wonderful to come on here and get the support that I truely need. I hope others are finding this site so rewarding. I love all of the advice out there for us up coming sleevers, those that are hopeful that they can get sleeved soon, and others that have just recently gone through the surgery. There are so many helpful suggestions and such possitive remarks that I find myself being more addicted to being on this site than the food that has been haunting me for years. So just want to really say thank you to all of the wonderful posts that people have made, and say keep it up, it really is helping others on their weight loss journeys.

  13. my regular doctor had the same responce when he read my paperwork about the required weight loss prior to surgery. he was like, "isnt that the point, you cant lose weight." i was freaken out thinking he wasnt going to give medical clearance because he thought that if i could lose 10% on my own, then i should be able to lose it all on my own. i dont have a hard time losing weight, as a matter of fact i have lost a lot in the past. my problem is keeping it off. i always gain it right back plus a few pounds. just cant seem to keep with anything. i hope that i will be able to stick with this for the rest of my life and never have this problem again. arent we lucky to live in a time when we can have some help with these things, and get on a websight like this and get the support that we all need. i have only been on this sight for about a week and im already hooked. i love that everyone is so positive and supportive here. i have yet to see one negative comment in here. its a wondeful thing.
  14. i feelexactly the same way!!!! i am cranky as hell with everyone, i cant stand to even hear people talk right now. my family thinks that i have gone nuts. im on this stupid liquid diet and its horrible. my date is august 16th and it seems like f orever away, even though its just a week away. i wrote about a week ago that i got my date and its coming fast, but that was before the reality of this freakin liquid diet set in. i didnt think it was going to be this bad but i think i would pluck a chickens head right off and eat it feathers and all if one walked infront of me...lol ...all in all im trying to stay positive about this but im finding it hard to wait. i would love to just fall asleep and fast forward to the 16th! good luck to you
  15. my doc put me on a high Protein liquid diet for 2 weeks pre op- i get sleeved on the 16th of august too. the diet sucks but the scale doesnt lie, lol. the only thing i have "cheated" on is with some sugar free fudge pops, 20 calories, but no protein and im sure he wouldnt approve. try drinking more fluids when you get hungry instead of eating. sometimes hunger is our bodys way of telling us you need more h2o. good luck to you, and dont beat yourself up over it. you'l get there.

Y I need to lose weight

its great that you are finally begining the new chapter of your life, you'll get there, just keep it up. I know what it feels like to have a man that looks good and you feel like you dont match him. i'm constantly worried that other women are checking him out and think that because im fat that they could get him if they want to. thankfully i know that my husband loves me how i am, but i know he'l love it when i'm hot again too! heres to being the hot girl again!
  17. My surgery day is august 16th 2011. I am currently on the 800 calorie high protein shake diet. Started that on the 2nd of this month and have already lost 6 pounds with that one. My starting weight was 311 pounds in November 2010, and I am currently 266 pounds. My weight has been all that I have thought about for years now. When I go out with my family I'm always thinking about how everybody is judging me and thinking that I don't fit in with my skinny family. My husband is very thin and so are my three children ages 8, 12, and 16. When I'm at a resturant I think that people are watching me eat, and thinking that I shouldn't be eating that. I feel this way for everything, what I eat, what I wear, where I go, or what I do. My weight is always on my mind. For the longest time I haven't been able to picture myself growing old with my husband, and seeing our children grow up and have families of their own. I bought life insurance a few years ago for fear that I was going to die of my weight and leave my family without my income. Finally my insurance has approved me for the sleevectomy and I see a light at the end of the tunnel and its not death, but life! I'm ready to start living without constantly feeling judged about my weight. I'm ready to fit into my family and not have my kids constantly worried that their mom isn't healthy. I'm ready for my husband to look at me and see the woman that he fell in love with years ago!

I have my date and its coming up fast!

So i'm totally cranky, can't handle this wait! I am hungry all the time on this damn liquid diet. I see that I have lost weight on it, as of today the seventh day of this liquid diet, I have lost 8 lbs, from the begining of my weight loss journey at 311lbs down to 264 lbs. I am so proud of that, but I am ready for my surgery to just be here. I am snapping at the ones I love the most. I hate it when I do it, but I'm so cranky that every word that someone says to me feels like nails on a chalk board. Is it this diet? Or is it hormones? I don't know, but I would really like to be in a better mood!

    Would you consider WLS "elective"?

if it was considered elective surgery then why would insurance companies be willing to pay for it. that responce is exactly why i have chosen to keep my wls to myself. the only people that know about my surgery is my husband and my daughter. i figure its nobody elses business how i lose my weight. im getting healthy for me and my family and not for anybody else. so many studies show how its next to impossible for obese people to lose their weight and keep it off. i say, dont worry about what your friend thinks. good luck to you

    **OFFICIAL** Team Line Up!!

    H.Pylori test required???

I have blue shield and they approved me already without it, but my surgeon requires this test in his office. they arent getting anymore money out of me for doing it, its just something they have everyone do. i went through bariatric solutions and i love them. they have been so wonderful through this whole process. i just found out i have no copay for the surgery at all!!! if i would have known this before i would have done the sleeve years ago! good luck and i hope you get your date soon!
  24. im auf 16th, 35 in a few weeks. 5'8" and 266 lbs now starting weight was 311lbs. just joined today.
