  1. i agree with kathy! a lot of the first losses is just water weight from the iv.......i gained 3 pounds after my surgery, and then i lost 10 lbs plus the 3 in water weight my first week....but everyone is different. even after the first week some people just lose slower. it also depends on your pre surgery size...the bigger you are the faster you will lose. the more active you are the faster you will lose. i am now 2 weeks and 2 days out and i have lost 14 pounds. not to much...but the important thinkg to remember is that it will come off in the end, it may just take longer.
  2. when added to the milk it has 15 grams of protein per serving. not as high as some of the other stuff, but much easier to swallow because it tastes good. lol keep rocken it girlie!

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon

my surgeon is Dr. John Garcia in bakersfield cali....surgery was at San Juaquine medical center. my doc is the nicest guy! i havent had any complications and my insicion sites are soooo tiny. i would recommend him to my own child. the hospital was also the best i have ever been to. they have vallet parking for everone!!! no charge, or tips at all!! the nursing staff treated me like royalty! i dont ever want to go to another hospital again! it is a 7th day adventist hospital, but they dont push anything on you, they are wonderful!!! i dont know the price of the surgery as it was covered 100% by my insurance. i stayed 2 days in the hospital, but the normal stay is one day...the only reason for the extra day is because i live 200miles away and the doc wanted me to be close just in case. like i said i would trust this doc and the hospital with my own children, there is no higher of a recomendation then that in my opinion!

You know you lost weight when

when you go to your sons class for back to school night and you fit in the kids desk that is attached to the chair without pushing yourself in and pulling of fat to fit, and you get out of it without the jaws of life lol
  5. sunny, i had my surgery on the 16th and i have only lost 14 pounds. dont be discouraged, losing slower is healthier, as well as easier on the skin. for your protein, have you ever tried high protein slim fast powder. i love the chocolate flavor. it tastes just like chocolate milk. your weight will come off! it has to, its just a matter of time. remember that even though it is going slow, that it is still going. soon it will be gone!!! relax, breathe easy, and enjoy every pound lost.
  6. i too have had this happen to me. it cuts to the core. so sorry. i have even done it myself when i was younger, to a woman that just had had her baby and hadent lost the prego look. i think when i did it i was more embarresed then anyone else at the time. i have learned my lesson thats for sure.. im sorry that this happened to you, and know that soon they will all be calling you the skinny one. that is the best come back ever!

    I'm scared

there is nothing that anybody can say that will take these feelings away. they are normal. you have gone this far because you want to change. remember that. change is hard, we fight it tooth and nail, because it is the abnormal for us. you will find this road difficult, and probably scary, but this is the road that you have chosen for a better life. you will make it, just keep going and soon you will know that you have made the right decision.

    Water pill warning!

the best diuretic is water intake!!!! the reason you retain water is usually because you are dehydrated. your body sees it as a threat and starts holding onto all of your water that is in the body, just in case you wont be getting any for a while. once you rehydrate, your body says, ok we got the stuff we need, let go of the extra water. simple as that. potassium and iodine regulate the heart, these are our electrolytes. when you take a diuretic potassium is depleated, and that is why the irregular heart beat occurs. it is scarry how being out of wack can make the healthiest person scarry sick!

    Boob question

gummies are a kind of implant. not hard like saline can get. they feel mushy like a gummy bear. and are a solid, so that if they are punctured they will not lose their form, like saline will. lil miss diva-your boobs look great!
  11. no worries, soon youl lose that and more!

Breakfast Casserole: High protein, low carb!

i made this receipe, and loved it so i decided to try it with a little twist. i made it for the whole family, and as i type my kids have just gone back for 2nds...they love it! i didnt really messure anything. i crumbled up 1 whole package of the ritz whole wheat crackers and just put them on the bottom of a 11 by 8 casserole dish pour 8 oz of turkey sausage over the top cut up 8 oz of canadian bacon and pour over top. drop spoonfulls of greak yogurt over the top and spread. sprinkle mexican cheese over the top (low fat is fine) dice up red and green bell peppers and mexican onions about 1/2 cup total melt 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter and pou on top finally whip 10 eggs up and pour on the top of mixture. you can sprinkle more low fat cheese on top cook at 375 for 30-35 min (until center is solid) serve you will get a thank you mom its great--plus you can eat it too! i dont know all the carbs and cals but a 2 inch by 2 inch square filled up my sleeve plenty! thank you for this wonderful receipe to start with!

  23. yup..one of the first things on the pre op paper work was not to eat fibrous foods like coconut, and celery! no more of that stuff for anyone. if you need to have your fix on coconut flavor, there are extracts that you can use. dont have to worry about that because it is in liquid form. hope it disolved for you. great that you shared your story so other avoid this problem!

    How tired are you?

i had my surgery on the 16th and i feel great energy wise. i have been taking gummy multivitamins. they are meant for children and they are 2 for a child so i have been taking 4 a day. 2 in morning and 2 at night. they dont upset the sleeve either because i can suck on them and disolve um in my mouth. taste good too. just like a gummy bear. i know you feel like poop, but i also found just dragging yourself out in the sun can boost you mood and make you feel better too. i have been exercising lightly and seem to get some energy from that as well. i hope you feel better!
